1 FLOOD MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM CENTRE IRRIGATION & WATER RESOURCE DEPARTMENT, LUCKNOW Current Rainfall of September 17, 2018 and Three Days Forecast for Rapti River Basin Current Status Rainfall Summary and Alert Monsoon is active over the whole Rapti basin. The average daily rainfall in Indian side of catchment is 0.47 mm. Observed maximum rainfall (22 mm) at Balrampur Block in Balrampur district. Forecast (Based on forecast at 0530 hrs. on 17 September 2018 using GFS model from IMD) Light Rainfall is forecasted for next 3 days in Nepal side of the catchment. No Rainfall is forecasted for next 3 days in Indian side of the catchment. This forecast is being tested on pilot basis for user feedback and improvement. 2 INTRODUCTION Rapti river basin is the one of the most flood prone area of the state (U.P.). The catchment area (basin) is approximately 2.66 million ha including1.14 million ha area in Nepal. The rainfall forecast maps of the Rapti basin for next three days shows forecasted rainfall in different colours. Red colour depicts extremely heavy rainfall in the area. Current rainfall status of daily rainfall till time of forecast observed at 46 automatic rain gauge stations (Real Time Data Acquisition System) deployed in the Indian side of the basin is shown in tabular form.
