1 4930 Research Drive Huntsville, AL (256) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BARON END-TO-END HYDROLOGICAL MODELING SOLUTION NOW AVAILABLE IN NEW BARON LYNX DISPLAY Powerful scientific display provides intelligent interface for viewing advanced hydrological information, including single-site and composite radar images, hydrographs, observations and more. MADRID, Spain, Sept. 27, 2016 Baron, the worldwide provider of critical weather intelligence, announced the availability of its comprehensive hydrological modeling solution within its newest scientific display product Baron Lynx. The weather display will make it possible to view and analyze advanced hydrometeorological observations within one intuitive system, improving flood and flood-forecast warning and guidance to meteorological agencies. Floods claim more lives and damage more property than any other type of natural disaster, said John McHenry, Chief Scientist at Baron. Hydrology solutions from Baron deliver the tools to make flood management thorough, accurate and effective. Integrating the technology into Lynx will allow agencies to better anticipate flooding events and alert the public sooner. Baron Lynx has the ability to integrate data in real-time from several observational assets, including the weather surveillance radar networks, surface automatic weather stations, stream gauge observations and available satellite information. The display will offer a fully integrated solution for the forecasting and notification of flooding events with access to a wealth of hydrometeorological datasets: Surface Rainfall Intensity Surface Hourly Rainfall Vertically Integrated Liquid Precipitation Accumulation Rainfall Intensity Histogram Point Rainfall Total + Table Rain Gauge Baron was a science contributor to the WARF Hydro model, which was implemented as part of the U.S. National Weather Service Hydro Model. Agencies have access to tools that aid in accurate short-term forecasting, rainfall estimates and much more. Several unique model
2 classes help address different issues and domains, while helping officials better predict overbank flooding, flash floods and other flooding events. Hydrometeorological measurements and modeling can be implemented into national composites, providing agencies with advanced situational awareness. In addition, meteorologists can easily send site-specific alerts of heavy rainfall and official flash-flood warnings to be delivered via , mobile devices and alert radios only subscribers in threatened areas receive the notification. Information on Baron hydrology and flood forecasting will be available today and on display in the Baron booth at Meteorological Technology World Expo, stand number About Baron Baron s meteorological hardware, software and data are indispensable tools for organizations, businesses and individuals critically impacted by weather conditions. Baron s world-class scientists are continuously inventing new and more effective ways to collect, interpret, package and display real-time, hyper-local meteorological information so that those who depend on the most precise weather intelligence for their safety and livelihood have access to professional decision-making solutions. Baron delivers critical weather intelligence when precision matters. Baron products are used in numerous industries such as automotive, transportation, aviation, insurance, marine, government and media. Over 226 million people have access to Baron weather intelligence through major media outlets in North America including major brands like CNN, AccuWeather, WeatherNation and The Weather Network. For more information, visit Images are available for download. ###
