Forecasting cosmological constraints from future X ray cluster surveys. BARBARA SARTORIS University of Trieste in collaboration with S. Borgani, C. Fedeli, S. Matarrese, L. Moscardini, P.Rosati, J. Weller Moriond, 14 March 2010
Evolution of galaxy clusters m=0.3, =0.7 m=1 Borgani & Guzzo 2001
Grossi et al fnl= 1000 Evolution of galaxy clusters fnl= 0 fnl= 1000
Non Gaussian intial conditions Parametrize deviations from NG with: Mass function f =145 red; f = 12 black Linear bias Fedeli et al 2009
The method Fisher matrix method: abbundance of galaxy clusters + distribution of galaxy clusters Self calibration method: The probablity of assigning a mass Mob to a cluster of true mass M: Lima & Hu 2005, Majumdar & Mohr 2003

Selection function LX > M500 relation calibrated by Maughan (2007)
Reference model 9 cosmological parameters : WMAP 7 4 niusance parameters : BM,0 = 0.15 = 0 LnM,0 = 0.25 =0
Redshift distribution Detection samples Bright samples
Constraints on cosmological parameters Strong complementarity NC and PS to constrain 8 and fnl. NC: weakly sensitive of the high end of the mass function to non Gaussianity and so on fnl. PS: through the scale dependence of bias strong constraints on fnl
Constraints on cosmological parameters Combine all the information obtainable from the three surveys Most of the constraining power from Wide survey larger statistics out to z 1 better sample long wavelength modes Timing of structure formation: fnl 12 FoMSFT 26
Constraints on cosmological parameters Weak prior: BM, LnM,
Constraints on cosmological parameters w(a)= w0+ (1 a ) wa Weak prior: BM, LnM, w0 Strong prior: Weak prior: No prior: wa FoMDE ~ 1208 strong prior FoMDE ~ 818 no prior Sartoris et al in preparation
Constraints on cosmological parameters XMMU J cluster (Jee et al. 2009) z~1.4, M= 5 x 1014Mo, detected in 11 sq.deg. Non Gaussian mass function: LoVerde et al. (2008) dot dashed curves Matarrese et al. (2000) solid curves. Curves from right to left: 0.05, 0.02, 0.01 and clusters
Conclusions Power spectrum and number counts of galaxy clusters are highly complementary in providing constraints on fnl Most of the constraining power for these two parameters lies in the Wide Survey Combining number counts and power spectrum information for the three surveys turns into fnl 12 for local shape model (FoMSFT 26 ). Constraint on fnl is weakly sensitive on the priors assumptions for nuisance paramenters The presence of XMMU J at z 1.4 (Jee et al. 2009) is an unlikely event even allowing for an exceedingly large non Gaussianity consistent with current constraints.
