New Two Step Laplace Adam-Basfort Metod for Integer an Non integer Order Partial Differential Equations arxiv: v1 [mat.ap] 4 Aug 17 Abstract Rodrigue Gnitcogna*, Abdon Atangana** *Department of Matematics, Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Science University of te Free State Bloemfontein. *Department of Matematics, University of Namibia. **Institute of Groundwater Studies, University of te Free State Bloemfontein Sout Africa. Tis paper presents a novel metod tat allows to generalise te use of te Adam-Basfort to Partial Differential Equations wit local and non local operator. Te Metod derives a two step Adam-Basfort numerical sceme in Laplace space and te solution is taken back into te real space via inverse Laplace transform. Te metod yields a powerful numerical algoritm for fractional order derivative were te usually very difficult to manage summation in te numerical sceme disappears. Error Analysis of te metod is also presented. Applications of te metod and numerical simulations are presented on a wave-equation like, and on a fractional order diffusion equation. Keywords: Laplace Transform, Adam-Basfort, PDE, Fractional PDE, Caputo Derivative. 1. Introduction Adam-Basfort metod as been recognised as a powerful numerical tool to solve Partial Differential equations P.D.E [1]. It is a numerical sceme tat is used in many field of applied science. epidemiology, engineering in dynamical systems, in caotic problems []-[6]. Te numerical sceme Preprint submitted to Elsevier October 19, 17
is good for bot differential equations wit classical derivatives, and differential equations wit non integer order derivatives. However Te metod is not fully applied to P.D.E wit local and non local operator as it was designed only for Ordinary Differential Equations O.D.E [1]. Various oter metods are used instead for P.D.E wit integer order differentiation, and tose wit real order derivatives[7]-[15]. Noneteless, Due to te accuracy and efficiency of Adam-Basfort tecniques, tere is a need to extend te metods to P.D.E. By eliminating one variable and transforming a P.D.E to an O.D.E via Laplace transform, te newly obtained O.D.E can be analysed in Laplace space, and a furter application of te inverse transform will return te solution to te real space. Tis paper derives a new numerical sceme tat combines te Laplace transform and Adam-Basfort metod to andle P.D.E wit integer order and non integer order derivatives.. Numerical Metod for P.D.E wit Integer order Consider te following general P.D.E ux, t t = Lux, t + Nux, t.1 Were L is a linear operator and N a non linear operator. We start by applying Laplace transform on bot sides of te equation, wit respect to te variable x to obtain ux, t L = L Lux, t + Nux, t = t d up, t = L Lux, t + Nux, t dt d ut = F u, t. dt Were ut = up, t and F u, t = L Lux, t + Nux, t. Next we apply te fundamental teorem of calculus on equation. to obtain ut = ut + t F u, τdτ

we ave u n+1 u n = F n 1 t n+1 t n+1 t n 1 1 t n + t n t n 1 F n 1 1 t n+1 t n t n+1 1 t n + t n u n+1 u n = F n 1 t n+1 t n t n+1 +t n t n 1 t n+1 t n F n 1 u n+1 u n = F n 1 t n+1 + t n t n 1 F n 1 1 t n+1 + t n t n 1 1 u n+1 u n = F n t n+1 + t n t n 1 F n 1 t n+1 + t n t n 1 t n+1 t n t n+1 +t n t n t n+1 t n u n+1 u n = F n 1 1 n n n 1 F n 1 n n n u n+1 u n = F n n + 1 n + F n 1 n + 1 n 3 u n+1 = u n + F n 1 F n 1.3 Applying te inverse Laplace transform to return into te real space, we ave: 3 L 1 u n+1 = L [u 1 n + F n 1 ] F n 1 3 ux, t = L [u 1 n + F n 1 ] F n 1 3. New Numerical Metod for P.D.E wit non integer order To illustrate te metod we consider te general fractional P.D.E ux, t t = Lux, t + Nux, t 3.1 4
Were L is a linear operator and N a non linear operator. Applying Laplace transform on bot sides of te equation 3.1, we ave ux, t L = L Lux, t + Nux, t t For te Caputo type fractional partial derivative tis will be C ad t up, t = L Lux, t + Nux, t C ad t up, t = F u, t tis is C ad t ut = F u, t 3. were ut = up, t and F u, t = L Lux, t + Nux, t. Te next step is to apply te Caputo fractional Integral operator on equation 3.. Doing so we obtain Wen t = t n+1 Wen t = t n ut ut = 1 Γ u n+1 = ut n+1 = u + 1 Γ u n = ut n = u + 1 Γ t +1 t τ 1 F u, τdτ t n+1 τ 1 F u, τdτ t n τ 1 F u, τdτ u n+1 u n = 1 [ t n+1 ] t n+1 τ 1 F u, τdτ t n τ 1 F u, τdτ Γ +1 n tj+1 t n+1 τ 1 F u, τdτ = t n+1 τ 1 F u, τdτ We approximate F u, t wit te following Lagrange polynomial j= t j 3.3 P t F u, t = t t n 1 F u, t n + t t n F u, t n 1 t n t n 1 t n 1 t n 5
P t = t t n 1 F n + t t n F n 1 t n t n 1 t n 1 t n Te first fractional integral in equation 3.3 can ten be expressed as +1 = = n [ t n+1 τ 1 F u, τdτ = F n t n t n 1 j= n [ tj+1 Fn j= t j tj+1 n j= tj+1 t j t j t n+1 t 1 t t n 1 dt+ F n 1 t n 1 t n t n+1 t 1 t t n 1 dt F n 1 t t n+1 t 1 tn 1 F n + t t n F n 1 dt t n t n 1 t n 1 t n tj+1 We now implement te following cange of variable. For = 1 we recover te classic Adam-Masfort Numerical sceme. In fact u n+1 u n = n n + 1 n + n + Fn n + 1+n n + 1 F n 1 Γ1 u n+1 u n = n n 1 n n 1 Fn n + 1+n n n 1 u n+1 u n = 3 F n 1 F n 1 To find te numerical Sceme in te real space we need to apply te inverse Laplace 3.4. We obtain te following iterative sceme in te real space: { [ u n+1 x, t = L 1 u n + n + 1 n + n+1 n F n Γ n n+1 n Fn 1 F n 1 ] }
Te above equation can be discretised in x using any classical metod, including but not limited to forward, backward difference, Crank Nicolson. 4. 24 7. Conclusion In order to extend te well-known Adams-Basfort numerical sceme to partial differential equations wit integer and non-integer order derivatives, we introduced a new reliable and efficient numerical sceme. Te metod is a combination of Laplace transform, Adams-Basfort and forward or backward numerical sceme. We developed te metod for general partial differential equations wit local and non-local differentiation. We presented in detail te error analysis and te convergence of te metod. In te case of fractional partial differential equations, te metod provides a numerical algoritm tat is easier to implement. Unlike te conventional metods, forward, backward, Crank-Nicolson, te cumbersome summation tat always appears in te additional term of teir numerical algoritm for te case of fractional partial differential equations, does not exist wit our metod. Tis leads to an easier proof of stability and convergence. We illustrated te metod by solving two partial differential equations including wave equation for te local case and a diffusion equation for fractional case. We studied te stability of eac example. Te proof sows witout doubt tat our metod is very stable and also converges very quickly to te exact solution. We believe tis metod will turn out to be a very useful numerical sceme tat will elp solving nonlinear and linear partial differential equations wit local and non-local operators. 4
