5 Math is the language of physics. Mr. T s Problem Solving Strategy a.k.a. G.U.E.S.S. Method 1. Read the problem. Seriously, actually READ the problem all the way through! 2. Annotate (that means underline or highlight) the important information. 3. Identify and chart the known and unknown values. 4. Determine which formula you need to solve the problem. 5. Isolate the unknown variable on one side of the equal sign. 6. Insert the known values into the formula. 7. Solve the problem.

13 Digits from 1-9 are always significant. Zeros between nonzero digits are significant. Zeros to the right of the decimal and a significant figure are significant. Zeros used for placing the decimal point are not significant.
14 Multiplication and Division o When multiplying or dividing, the answer may only show as many significant digits as the multiplied or divided measurement showing the least number of significant digits. Addition and Subtraction o When adding or subtracting your answer can only show as many decimal places as the measurement having the fewest number of decimal places.

21 Line graphs are used when one variable (independent) affects another, which is the dependent variable. Useful for predicting trends Continuous Data o A set of observations usually associated with physical measurement that can take on any mathematical value within specified parameters.

23 The data for this graph are non-numerical and discrete for at least one variable. Axes may be reversed to give a graph with the categories on the x axis. Bar graphs can be drawn horizontally or vertically. This type of graph is very useful for comparing two or more similar items. Discrete Data o Data that can only take certain values.
