1 Strategy for Benchmark Questions: 1. Asking for the interquartile range. The formula is IQ Range = Q3 - Q1. Q3 (42) - Q1 (7) = Asking for the interquartile range. Q1 is 10 and Q3 is 16. 4) The interquartile is Q3 (16) - Q1 (10) = 6 3. This question is a proportion question. You can look at the first sentence. 10 out of 50 would be set up as 10/50. How many people in the total would be x/350? You will set it up as a proportion. Cross multiply and then solve for x. 10 x 350 and 50x = 50x = 3500 divide 50 into 3500 x = This question is a proportion question. 2 out of 5 is 2/5. How many students in all is x/450. Cross multiply and then solve for x. 2 x 450 and 5x. 5x = 900 divide 5 into 900. x = This is a cross section of a 3D shape. The clue word here is rectangular. Because the base is a rectangle, when you make a cross section parallel to base, the cross section will be a rectangle. 6. The sum of a triangle. Remember, the sum of a triangle measures is 180. Since you have two of the three angle measures, you can add those two measures together and subtract that from 180. The second part of the question wants to know what type of angle the third angle is based on it's measure. Since the angle is 60 degrees, it would be acute. Definition of angles: Acute - less than 90; Obtuse - more than 90; Right equal Reading a quartile chart. The first notch is the minimum, the left side of the box is Q1, the center notch is Q2 and the right side of the box is Q3; the last notch is the maximum. A. If the known angle is 38 o, then the unknown is 38 o. 20. Solving for the unknown angle measure. If it is a right angle, it will be a complementary angle. Look for the square in the corner. Since you already have 54 o, you will need to subtract to get the other measurement = 36 o 21. Area of a triangle.. The formula is provided on the formula sheet. Find the area of the total rectangle and then subtract with cut-out. 30 x 15 = 450 cm 2 is the total rectangle Now, find the area of the cut-out. 22 x 11 = 242 cm 2 is the cut-out area of the rectangle. Subtract = 208 cm Random vs Bias Sampling. Remember in order for the sample to be random, everyone in the population The choice of the Student Council does not allow everyone the chance of being chosen. There are three 1, 3, and 5. 3) The probability of rolling an odd number is 3/6 BUT YOU MUST REDUCE THIS. 4) Reduce by dividing the top and bottom by 3.
