INTRODUCTION Meaureent of phyicocheical propertie uch a denity and ultraonic velocity of pure coponent and their binary ixture are being increaingly ued a tool for invetigation of the propertie of pure coponent and the nature of interolecular interaction between the coponent of liquid ixture [1, 2]. xce propertie and deviation of propertie for liquid ixture can reveal the exitence of pecific olecular interaction. Therefore, the yteatic tudy of thee propertie ha great iportance in gaining a better knowledge of thee interaction [3, 4]. Moreover, the knowledge of the therodynaic and tranport propertie i eential for the proper deign of indutrial procee. Alkoxyethanol are widely ued a indutrial olvent. Studie involving the eaureent of variou therodynaic propertie of binary and ternary ixture of alkoxyethanol with polar and nonpolar olvent are iportant for tudying the effect of the iultaneou preence of etherric and hydroxyl group of the olecular interaction. DNSITY MASURMNT Singlelibed calibrated pyknoeter wa ued for deterining the denitie of the ixture. The pyknoeter te, with unifor fine bore, had unifor graduation of 0.01 l over it. To iniie the lo of liquid due to evaporation, Teflon cap wa ued for cloing the open end of the capillary te, with a all orifice to enure that the preure inide the capillary wa equal to the atopheric preure. The weight of epty, wellcleaned and dried pyknoeter wa taken accurately by electronic balance (AR 2140, OHAUS, Parippany, NJ, USA), and then the liquid wa introduced into the bulb of the pyknoeter with the help of hypoderic yringe having a needle long enough to reach the botto of the bulb o a to avoid the undeired ticking of the olution to the inner wall of the pyknoeter te. Filled pyknoeter wa again weighed accurately. Poible error in the etiation of ole fraction i ± B. VLOCITY MASURMNT The interferoetric technique ha been ued for the deterination of ultraonic velocity. The apparatu i a variable path fixed frequency interferoeter (Model F81, Mittal nterprie, New Delhi, India). It conit of a high frequency generator (2 MHz) and a doublewalled eauring cell. The accuracy in the eaureent of peed of ound i found to be 0.1 /. C. TMPRATUR MAINTNANC Circulating water bath with prograable teperature controller (TC502, Brookfield ngineering Laboratorie, Inc., USA), having variable pup peed, ha been ued for water circulation in water jacket of the apparatue. The teperature controller cover the teperature eaureent range of 20 C to 200 C with teperature tability of ±0.01 C. III. RSULT AND DISCUSSION The experiental value of denity ( ) and ultraonic velocity ( u ) for acetonitrile + 2ethoxyethanol and acetonitrile+2butoxyethanol ixture at teperature 293K, 303K and 313K are given in table 1. The value of V, u and k were plotted againt the ole fraction of acetonitrile and are hown in fig. 1 to 3 repectively. The value of exce olar volue ( V ) for acetonitrile + 2 ethoxythanol and acetonitrile + 2butoxythanol have been found to be negative over the entire copoition range at all the teperature tudied here. 3 Volue 3 Iue 9, Augut 2016 ISSN: According to Fort and Moore [7], a negative exce olar volue ( V ) i an indication of trong hetroolecular interaction in the liquid ixture and i attributed to chargetranfer, dipoledipole interaction and hydrogen bonding between the unlike olecule, while a poitive ign indicate a weak interaction and i attributed to diperive force. The agnitude of the contribution will vary with the coponent and copoition of the ixture. In the preent invetigation, both the ixture exhibited negative agnitude of exce olar volue ( V ). Thi depict the preence of hetroolecular interaction, which upport the view propoed by Fort and Moore. The negative value of V indicate that volue contraction take place upon ixing of acetonitrile with 2ethoxyethanol/2butoxyethanol due to cro aociation between thee diiilar olecule [8]. V becoe ore negative with increae in teperature. Thi indicate that theral energy activate unlike olecule toward coplex foration through Hbonding. Negative trend in V have alo been reported for binary ixture of ethylene glycol + water [9]. role in decribing olecular rearrangeent a a reult of olecular interaction between coponent olecule in the liquid ixture. It ha been noticed fro fig. 2 that u ha poitive value for acetonitrile + 2ethoxyethanol and acetonitrile + 2butoxyethanol binary ixture over whole copoition range at teperature 293K, 303K and 313K repectively. A iilar behavior of u ha alo been oberved for binary ixture of acetophenone+ benzene by Sarvankuar et.al [10]. It can alo be oberved fro fig. 2 that interaction i tronger in cae of acetonitrile + 2 ethoxyethanol ixture when copared with acetonitrile + 2 butoxy ethanol. The order of negative value of deviation in ientropic copreibility ( k ) for acetonitrile + 2ethoxyethanol i greater than acetonitrile + 2butoxyethanol ixture, which ugget that interaction between acetonitrile + 2ethoxythanol ixture i tronger a copared to acetonitrile + 2 butoxyethanol ixture.
