4 BYU Winter 2009 Class Schedule 4 7:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Class Schedule Work Sheet We suggest that you use the following form to plan your ideal schedule. Be careful not to select classes that meet at the same time on the same days. After listing your ideal schedule, list additional courses or sections for submission if your first choices are not available. The computer will not schedule you in more than one section of the same class (except for R classes and labs). Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Instructions for Internet Access How to Access BYU Web Registration You may access BYU Web registration from your own home if you have the Internet and have downloaded Netscape Communicator 7.0+, Internet Explorer 5.5+, or Mozilla Firefox 2.0. These browsers are available for downloading on the World Wide Web. If you can t access the Web from home, you can use computers on the BYU campus. These are available at access point labs and kiosks in most buildings. You can also find computers connected to the Web at most public libraries. 1. Log in to Route Y with your Net ID and password. This can be done from (If you do not remember your Net ID, click the Route Y tab for instructions on how to proceed.) If you continue to experience problems with your Net ID and password, please contact the Registration Office at (801) Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time. 2. Once you have logged on, type MyMAP in the white search box on the upper right side of the screen (Quick URL box). When this page loads, select the Plan MyMAP tab. This page is the foundation of MyMAP. Similar to the progress report, the Plan MyMAP tab not only tracks academic progress but also provides you with the capability of building your academic plan leading to graduation. The Plan MyMAP page allows you the opportunity of indicating specific classes for general education, major and minor requirements, and any desired elective course. A link to the suggested sequence of classes on the major academic plan (MAP) for your major is provided to reference, if necessary. 3. Next click the Organize MyMAP tab, which allows you to assign a semester or term to each class planned on the Plan MyMAP page. 4. Finally click the Register tab, which will allow you to view your planned classes as you register for a currently open semester/term. You may also register in the traditional way by clicking the Add Classes button at the bottom of the semester/term tab. 11:00 a.m. 12 noon 1:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 5:00 7:30 p.m. 7:30 10:00 p.m. University Devotional Registration Information and Procedures Are You Eligible to Register? You are eligible to register for winter semester 2009 if you registered for and completed regular day school classes during fall semester 2008, or if you have been issued a valid letter of admission for winter semester 2009 by the Admissions Office. Continuing BYU students can interrupt their studies for one semester (fall/winter) by submitting a Continuing Student Enrollment and Scholarship Deferment Application. Students leaving the university to serve an LDS mission can defer their admission status by submitting an LDS Missionary Enrollment and Scholarship Application. Both are available from the Admissions Office, D-155 ASB, (801) , or at edu. Students who interrupt their studies for more than one semester (except missionaries) should contact the Admissions Office for the appropriate application materials. Continuing degree-seeking graduate students are eligible if they have fulfilled the minimum registration requirements (6 hours per year) in the preceding academic year. Students who graduate from BYU lose their eligibility and will not be allowed to continue to attend classes unless they have been admitted to a graduate or postbaccalaureate studies program. Do You Have Holds That May Block Your Registration? The following holds will block your registration. Please check with the appropriate office for removal of the hold: Academic Standards... Academic Support (801) CAC and GE... Your college advisement center (see page 1) Collections... (801) Continuing Ecclesiastical Endorsement.... Honor Code Office (801) Financial (prior balance).... 5 Academic Standards A student s academic standing is determined according to the grades the student earns at BYU. College Advisement Center (CAC) Hold The CAC hold targets students with special needs who will be required to seek assistance from their college advisement center before registering. Students with a CAC hold must visit their college advisement center and will be prevented from registering until the hold is cleared by the college advisement center. Continuing Ecclesiastical Endorsement All enrolled continuing, undergraduate, graduate, intern, or Study Abroad students are required to obtain a Continuing Student Ecclesiastical Endorsement for each new academic year. (See page 21 for further details.) Financial (prior balance) Past financial delinquencies must be cleared before a new registration may be commenced. Graduate School It is the responsibility of each graduate student to understand and follow both the specific department requirements and the general university requirements for graduate work. Loans Students past due debts are referred to Student Financial Services for collection. University Standards Violation of the Honor Code will result in a hold being placed on a student s record. (See pages for details.) Delinquent Tuition If tuition is not paid seven days before the beginning of school, a hold will be placed on registration unless the student has pending financial aid. Whatever amount is not covered by financial aid is the responsibility of the student and is due and payable by the tuition deadline. You do not need to have completed your registration in order to pay your tuition. Classes may be dropped but no classes may be added until the hold is lifted. If tuition is still not paid by the final due date (the add/drop deadline), classes will be deleted. However, it is still your responsibility to drop your classes if you do not intend to be enrolled for the semester. How to Add Classes Use the Web registration system to add classes. For winter semester your beginning registration time is determined according to your class standing or number of credit hours completed through summer term This Priority Registration begins with graduate students, then seniors, juniors, sophomores, continuing freshmen, newly admitted freshmen, and non-degree-seeking graduate students. The registration system will be open to you from your beginning time, as indicated on the Registration Notice until midnight January 16. The registration system will not allow you to register before your assigned time. Priority Registration Schedule Credit Hours/Class Standing Begin Registering Credit Hours/Class Standing Begin Registering Grad. students and 145+ Monday, Oct 27, Thursday, Nov Tuesday, Oct Friday, Nov Wednesday, Oct Monday, Nov Thursday, Oct Tuesday, Nov Friday, Oct Wednesday, Nov Monday, Nov 3 5+ Thursday, Nov Tuesday, Nov 4 <5, non-degree grads, 65+ Wednesday, Nov 5 and new students Friday, Nov 14 During priority registration, if all sections of the course you want are full, and you must have this course this semester, use the raincheck option to be placed on the department list of students unable to enroll. Continue to monitor the course on the Web registration system in case students drop. A raincheck will not guarantee that you will be able to register for the class. You may add classes from your beginning priority registration day until January 16. During this time some classes may be added using the Web registration system. Other classes require an add card with the instructor s signature, after the first day of class. Please be aware of the following when you are adding classes: Maximum Hours per Semester or Term Undergraduate students in good standing may register for as many as 18 credit hours in one semester (9 per term) by following the regular registration process. The college advisement centers may authorize a student who has demonstrated superior academic ability to register for a maximum of 21 hours (11 per term). This approval is to be noted by the college advisement center on the add/drop card or indicated by an over-hours flag in AIM. Auditing classes (registering for a class without receiving credit) or registering for Evening Classes constitutes a part of your total registration. Exception to these rules must be presented to: University Registrar, B-150 ASB, starting on the first day of instruction. Official Enrollment Students whose names are on the university class roll are officially registered. If your name is not on the class roll, you should contact the Registration Office, B-130 ASB, (801) , immediately. Auditing Classes Students desiring to audit classes (register for a class without receiving credit) can only do so on an add/drop card during the first ten class days (six days of a block/term). Students must obtain the instructor s approval on a signed add/drop card. It is not possible to register for an audit class on the Web registration system. You are charged the same tuition for auditing classes as for taking classes for credit. Classes taken on an audit basis will not appear on your official records, are not considered when calculating financial aid and scholarship eligibility, will not be considered in calculating enrollment verifications, and do not fulfill the minimum registration requirement for graduate degree-seeking students. Students who are registered for credit and wish to change to audit must first drop the class. The class may then be added for audit during the add period only (first ten days of a semester, six days of a term). Evening Classes and Salt Lake Center Classes Daytime students taking courses through Evening Classes or the Salt Lake Center may register for the courses at the same time they register for day school. Please note that the Salt Lake Center sections are taught in Salt Lake City. Independent Study Independent Study can provide scheduling flexibility and the convenience of taking university courses away from campus. You may register for courses any time during the year and take up to a year to finish each course. Tuition is $141 per credit hour this fee is not included in your regular BYU daytime tuition. Independent Study courses are indicated in the course list by the phrase Offered by Independent Study. Many courses are now available by Internet, and new courses are continually being added. For further information and a free catalog, contact the Independent Study Office, 206 HCEB, Provo, UT , (801) , or Note: Unless you are a BYU student, Independent Study courses do not apply toward a BYU degree. Generally, Independent Study courses cannot be applied toward BYU graduate degrees. Independent Study will not count toward eligibility. Contact Graduate Studies for more information (801) How to Drop Classes Winter classes can be dropped from your schedule using the Web registration system until midnight January 16. Add/drop cards can be obtained from the Registration Office, academic department, or CAC offices. Note: A student can be registered for more than one section of an R-suffix course and therefore must drop each unwanted section. A W will be given for any class withdrawal January 17 February 9. To withdraw from a class, simply log into the Web registration system and click the W next to the class you d like withdrawn. A pop-up message will inform you that a $10 fee will be charged to your student account and a W will be placed on your transcript. Select Okay and you will be withdrawn. A W is an official withdrawal and means you registered for a class and did not officially withdraw before the tenth day of the semester/sixth day of a block. It does not figure into your GPA. Withdrawal for nonacademic emergencies can be done February 10 April 1. Between these dates, if you encounter a nonacademic emergency, such as a serious accident or illness, which affects your performance in a class(es), you may petition to be withdrawn. It is the student s responsibility to obtain the necessary supporting information from the instructor, physician, employer, etc., to accompany the request. A committee will consider your request, which may or may not be approved. If you have experienced a nonacademic emergency, you may contact the Petitions Office, B 150 ASB (801) , to discuss your options. BYU Winter 2009 Class Schedule 5

6 BYU Winter 2009 Class Schedule 6 Discontinuance (Withdrawing from All Classes for the Semester) What to do before the add deadline (Until January 16) If you are not coming to school this semester, you must discontinue (drop all your classes) by the add deadline to avoid a tuition reassessment fee. Classes may be dropped individually or by clicking the Drop All Classes link on the Student Registration page in AIM. What to do after the add deadline (January 17 April 1) To discontinue after the add deadline you will need to complete a Request for Discontinuance form. Contact the Discontinuance Office at B-150 ASB ( ) or download the form from discontinuance.byu.edu. Tuition will be charged to the date of discontinuance at the percentage rate listed in the Tuition and Fees section of this class schedule. If discontinuing after the withdraw deadline (February 9), you will need to obtain signatures of the individual instructors (after this time students are responsible for grades earned in class). The instructor will indicate an official withdrawal (W) or an academic failing withdrawal (WE) grade. The last day to discontinue from winter semester is April 1, Warning: Discontinuance from winter semester will forfeit your eligibility to attend future semesters without reapplying or deferring through the Admissions Office. Undergraduate students who have completed at least one semester are eligible to fill out a deferment form, found here: byu.edu/depts/admissions/cont_deferment.aspx. Students who were newly admitted to winter semester should contact the discontinuance counselor at (801) about future readmission eligibility and deferment options. Adding and Dropping Information for Block Classes Dates for First-Block Classes Classes begin: January 5 Adding classes: Until January 16 Dropping classes: Without a W: Until January 16 Withdraw with a W: January Discontinue for nonacademic emergencies: January 23 February 9 Classes end: February 25 Dates for Second-Block Classes Classes begin: Feb 26 Adding classes: Until March 5 Dropping classes: Without a W: Until March 5 Withdraw with a W: March 6 16 Discontinue for nonacademic emergencies: March 17 April 1 Classes end: April 14 How to Obtain Enrollment Verification Contact the Records Office, B-150 ASB, (801) for enrollment verification. An undergraduate student s enrollment status is determined by the number of credit hours taken, as follows: Hours Enrolled Semester Term Enrollment Status Full-time Three-quarter Half-time Less than half-time Audited courses do not count in total enrollment hours, but are charged tuition and fees. Graduate students should refer to the Graduate Education section of this class schedule. Remember! Update Your Address Information It is important that your mailing address be updated. This will help you receive university mailings in a timely manner. You can accomplish this by going to the BYU homepage ( clicking on Route Y, then logging in and selecting Personal Information. The Registration Office, B-130 ASB, (801) , will also be happy to help you with an address change. Registration for Faculty, Staff, Administrative Personnel, and Their Spouses (See University Personnel Tuition Policy in the University Electronic Handbook.) Eligibility Regular full-time faculty, staff, and administrative personnel may register for classes, up to a maximum of 6 credit hours per semester, and will not be required to pay tuition. During spring and summer terms, full-time personnel may take 3 credit hours per term or 4 in one and 2 in the other. This benefit is applicable to undergraduate and graduate tuition. To be eligible for tuition benefits during a given semester/term, individuals must be regular fulltime personnel by the add deadline for that semester/term. For their dependents to be eligible for tuition benefits, personnel must (a) be at least age thirty or (b) have completed five years of full-time service with the university. Eligible individuals must meet university admissions and registration requirements. Personnel or dependents enrolled through day school (registration eligibility: DC day-continuing) who withdraw from all classes in a semester/term are required to do so through the Discontinuance Office, B 150 ASB. Part-time, adjunct, on-call, or temporary personnel and their dependents (spouse and children) are not eligible for tuition benefits. Daytime Classes Written approval is required for personnel taking classes during the hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and/or TBA. This includes thesis and dissertation hours and audited classes. The Personnel Request for Class Attendance form can be obtained from Benefits Services, D-240 ASB, or the Benefits Services Web site ( hr/managers/forms). Please register for classes, through Admissions or Evening School, before submitting your completed form to Benefits Services. You are required to submit a separate form for each semester/term in which you take 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and/or TBA classes. The tuition benefit will not be paid until the completed form is received and processed by Benefits Services. Evening Classes Eligible personnel who wish to register for evening classes only, and whose registration eligibility is not DC day continuing, should contact the Evening Classes Office, 122 HCEB, (801) To receive the tuition benefit for evening classes, a completed Clearance to Register Form and current BYU ID must be presented to the Evening Classes Office. Personnel registering for evening classes (section type: evening) beginning before 5:00 p.m. must also complete a Personnel Request for Class Attendance form (see Daytime Classes above) and submit it to Benefits Services, D-240 ASB, for the tuition benefit to be paid. An ecclesiastical endorsement is required for spouses and dependents of BYU personnel. Personnel and spouses withdrawing (discontinuing) from all courses in Evening Classes are required to do so through the Evening Classes Office. A $10 fee is charged to the individual for discontinuing after the last day to add classes. Audit Eligible personnel and spouses who only audit daytime and/or evening classes, and whose registration eligibility is not DC day-continuing, should contact the Evening Classes Office, 122 HCEB, (801) , for auditing procedures. Audited classes will not appear on official records; however, the credit hours listed with classes that are audited, as well as Conferences and Workshops courses, will count toward the semester/term credit-hour limits (see Eligibility above). Employees who audit classes during daytime hours (7:00 a.m 5:00 p.m. and/or TBA) must also complete a Personnel Request for Class Attendance form (see Daytime Classes above) and submit it to Benefits Services, D-240 ASB, for the tuition benefit to be paid. Audited classes do not count toward the minimum required credits for financial aid and scholarships. Spouses There are no credit-hour limitations for eligible spouses. However, in the event a spouse is taking classes and is then hired full-time by the university, the individual s personnel status supersedes the spouse status, and the tuition benefits/limitations (see Eligibility above) are then administered accordingly. Tuition Taxation In some cases the IRS considers graduate tuition for spouses to be noncash taxable income. Each semester/term in which an eligible spouse is enrolled in a graduate degree-seeking program and is taking graduate classes, the employee is required to complete a Tuition Taxation Form for Spouses Taking Graduate Classes. The form can be obtained from Benefits Services, D-240 ASB, or the Benefits Services Web site ( forms). The tuition benefit will not be paid until the completed form is received and processed by Benefits Services.

7 Tuition and Fees Tuition Rates Tuition rates and class fees for all academic programs are established annually by Brigham Young University s Board of Trustees. Tuition rates are based on graduate or undergraduate status, full- or parttime status, and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church). There are also separate rates for graduate students attending the J. Reuben Clark Law School and the Marriott School of Management. BYU is owned and operated by the Church, and a significant portion of university operating costs are paid with the tithes of Church members. In recognition of this support, Church members are assessed lower tuition fees than those who are not members. This practice is similar in principle to that of state universities charging higher tuition to nonresidents. Students are considered members of the Church if they have been baptized at any time during the semester or term. Tuition rates for the academic year are as follows: Tuition and General Fees per Semester Undergraduate Students LDS Non-LDS Full-time $2,040 $4,080 (12 or more credit hours) Three-fourths time $1,970 $3,955 ( credit hours) Part-time (8.5 credit hours or less) per credit hour $ 209 $ 418 Graduate Students LDS Non-LDS Full-time $2,580 $5,160 (8.5 or more credit hours) Part-time per credit hour $ 287 $ 573 Graduate School of Management Students and Law School Students LDS Non-LDS Full-time $4,620 $9,240 (8.5 or more credit hours) Part-time per credit hour $ 513 $1,027 The university reserves the right to change tuition and fees without notice. Noncredit and Audited Course Fees Tuition for noncredit courses or for courses being audited is charged at the same rate as for credit courses. Noncredit and audit hours will be considered when determining part-time, three-quarter-time, or full-time status for tuition assessment purposes. Student Status for Tuition Assessment Purposes Graduate Status. Students (both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking) who have received their first bachelor s degree prior to the beginning of the semester or term for which they are registering. Note that the preceding tuition rate table does not apply to students of the J. Reuben Clark Law School and the Marriott School of Management. Separate tuition and fee schedules are available for these management programs within the respective schools. Full-time Status. Undergraduate students registered for 12.0 or more credit hours per semester or 6.0 or more credit hours per term. For graduate students, full-time status is defined as registration for 8.5 or more credit hours per semester or 4.5 or more credit hours per term. Three-quarter-time Status. Undergraduate students registered for 9.0 to 11.5 credit hours per semester or 4.5 to 5.5 credit hours per term. There is no threequarter-time status for graduate students. Enrollment as a three-quarter-time student does not entitle the student to physical education suit and facility privileges. Part-time Status. Undergraduate students registered for 0.5 to 8.5 credit hours per semester or 0.5 to 4.0 credit hours per term. For graduate students, parttime status is defined as registration for 0.5 to 8.0 credit hours per semester or 0.5 to 4.0 credit hours per term. Enrollment as a part-time undergraduate student does not entitle the student to health service, student activity privileges, or physical education suit and facility privileges. Payment of Tuition and Fees Tuition and fees are considered due and payable seven calendar days prior to the first day of class. Failure to pay by this date will result in holds being placed on the student s account, restricting the ability to add additional classes, unless the student has pending financial aid. Class registrations will be deleted if payment of tuition and fees is not received by midnight of the add deadline. Classes will generally not be deleted if adequate financial aid is pending. However, it is the student s responsibility to ensure that financial aid or other forms of payment are available to satisfy tuition and fees prior to the deadline. Class registrations that are dropped for nonpayment will not be reinstated for payments received after the payment deadline. Short-Term Loans The university makes short-term loans available to assist students to meet the tuition payment deadline. These loans are intended to be used for short- duration financing needs. Short-term loans are due as follows: Semester/Term Due Date Fall 2008 November 1, 2008 Winter 2009 March 1, 2009 Spring 2009 June 1, 2009 Summer 2009 August 1, 2009 A $20 processing fee will be charged for each shortterm loan. No interest is charged on those loans if they are paid by the due date. Short-term loans outstanding after the due date bear interest at the rate of 12 percent per annum. Holds on registration for future semesters or terms are placed on all student accounts the day the short-term loan is disbursed and are not released until the loan is paid in full. This may affect the ability of some students to take advantage of priority registration. Pro-Rata Charges for Dropped Classes Students may drop classes without penalty until the add deadline. After the add deadline, tuition will be recalculated based on the student s current enrollment status. A pro-rata tuition charge will be applied for dropped classes that result in a student moving from full-time to three-quarter time or three-quarter time to part-time or fewer hours within part-time status. This charge also applies to students who discontinue. The pro-rata charge applies to tuition and most class fees. Certain class fees relate to the delivery of required supplies or services and are not refundable. The pro-rata charges are as follows: If class is dropped The pro-rata charge beginning: will be: Fall Semester September 16, % September 22, % October 27, % November 10, % Winter Semester January 20, % January 26, % March 2, % March 16, % Spring Term May 6, % May 11, % May 26, % June 1, % Summer Term June 30, % July 6, % July 20, % July 27, % The recalculation of tuition and fee charges may result in a refund. The amount of the refund a student will receive is based on the date the classes are dropped, or in the case of an official discontinuance, the date that the student reports such discontinuance to the Discontinuance Office (B-150 ASB). Any refund due the student will be paid by check through the mail approximately ten days after the classes are dropped. If the student has elected direct deposit for student account refunds, the refund will be deposited into the student s bank. Payments originally paid by credit card will be returned to the credit card. Unpaid university charges may be deducted from the refund amount. Refunds will not be paid to students whose tuition has been paid by a loan, scholarship, or benefit. If a student with federal loans drops below halftime enrollment (undergraduate, 6 hours per semester or 3 hours per term; graduate, 4.5 hours per semester or 2.5 hours per term), the federal program or lender may require that a portion of the refund to be returned. A petition for exception to the refund schedule will be considered for students forced to discontinue because of circumstances that are beyond their control, such as death in the immediate family, life-threatening situations, medical incapacitation, a university error, or military leave. Students should not submit petitions based on ignorance of university policies and procedures. These will be denied. Petition forms are available in D-155 ASB. Collection of Unpaid Tuition and Fees BYU retains all legal remedies to collect unpaid tuition, fees, and other amounts due to the university for housing, traffic fines, etc. BYU uses a variety of methods to keep students informed of amounts due the university, including financial Web sites, statements, and various forms of correspondence. It is the student s responsibility to remain aware of obligations to the university and to make payment on a timely basis. If BYU is unable to collect amounts due the university within a reasonable time, the debt may be referred to an outside collection agency and/or attorney for collection. All collection costs, including collection agency fees, attorney fees, and court costs will be charged to the student s account. Failure to pay all amounts due BYU, including collection fees, may also result in various actions, including but not limited to withholding services and restricting the student s ability to register for class, participate in graduation, receive a transcript or diploma, or be considered for readmission to the university. The university also reserves the right to report both positive and negative payment histories to credit-reporting agencies. Payments for Tuition and Fees Tuition and fees include charges such as tuition, class fees, tuition reassessments, tuition late fees, Study Abroad fees, and health insurance premiums. Students are responsible to pay the correct amount BYU Winter 2009 Class Schedule 7

8 BYU Winter 2009 Class Schedule 8 of tuition, fees, and past due balances in U.S. dollars (checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank). A current billing statement is available on Route Y by clicking the My Financial Center link under the School heading. The following options are available for making tuition and fee payments. For more information on making payments to BYU, please visit Pay Tuition Online BYU encourages you to take advantage of the fast, easy, and secure ways to pay online. Payments may be made online by logging into Route Y and selecting the My Financial Center link under the School heading. 1. echeck (BYU s preferred payment method) echeck is a free electronic check option that uses a secure Web transmission to electronically deduct payments directly from a checking or savings account. The payer s bank routing and account numbers are required when making echeck payments. Payments from mutual fund, money market, line of credit, and brokerage accounts cannot be accepted. 2. Credit Card with a Service Fee The university no longer accepts credit card payments for tuition and fees directly, but BYU has arranged for a third-party vendor to accept American Express, Discover, and MasterCard. The third party charges the payer a nonrefundable service fee equal to 2.75 percent of the transaction amount. This fee will be in addition to the tuition and fee charges. Visa is not accepted because its operating rules prevent participation in service fee programs of this type. Debit cards are considered credit cards for tuition and loan payment purposes and would therefore be subject to the same credit card restrictions and service charges. Because echecks and debit cards both deduct payments directly from a checking or savings account, students can avoid the service charge by choosing the echeck option. Note the Credit Card Refund Policy: Existing credit card regulations prohibit BYU from making a refund to you in cash or check when you make a payment by credit card and there is an adjustment made to the charges paid. When you pay by credit card and there is a reduction in the amount of your charges, we are required to refund the amount back to the credit card you used to make the payment. The third-party vendor will not refund any portion of the service fee even though a refund has been made to the credit card. Pay Tuition by Mail Check or money order payments may be mailed to Student Financial Services, A-153 ASB, Provo, UT Please make checks payable to Brigham Young University or BYU. Do not mail cash. Include with your check the student s BYU ID number and the amount to apply to each category. You may print a statement and remittance slip by logging into Route Y, selecting My Financial Center, and then clicking the Print a Statement button; however, this is not required to make payment. Pay Tuition in Person Payments may be made throughout the year in person at D-155 ASB. However, during the first two weeks of each semester or term, only limited services are available at this location. Full cashiering services during these periods are available at the OneStop Student Services in the Wilkinson Student Center. Tuition may be paid using check, money order, or cash. Credit cards and the Signature Card cannot be used to pay Tuition or Fees at BYU cashiering locations (see Pay Tuition Online above for acceptable use of credit cards). Check or money order payments may also be left in the drop boxes at OneStop Student Services in the Wilkinson Center or D wing on the main floor of the ASB. Pay Tuition by Telephone echeck payments may be made over the telephone by calling (801) Credit card payments for tuition cannot be made over the telephone. Credit card payments for tuition can only be made online through the third-party vendor. Pay Tuition Through Western Union This option is probably most advantageous for international payments. Using cash rather than credit card as the payment method will greatly reduce the amount of Western Union fees. Follow these instructions to make a tuition payment using Western Union Quick Collect: 1. Go to a Western Union agent location. To find a location call toll-free , press 2, 1; or go to the Web site at com 2. Complete the blue Quick Collect form. You will need the following information to complete the form: Pay to: Brigham Young University Code city: BrighamYoung (case sensitive and no spaces) State: UT Account number: (nine-digit BYU student ID) 3. Provide payment to Western Union Payment amount includes amount owed to BYU plus Quick Collect fee (between $11 and $15 U.S.) $5,000 U.S. limit for each cash transaction 4. Receive the receipt with the ten-digit money transfer control number (MTCN). This number can be used to track your Quick Collect payment. The notification of cash payment is sent within a few minutes. Pay Tuition by Wire Transfer To pay tuition using an international or domestic wire transfer, please contact us for wire transfer instructions via phone (801) or via at wiretransfer@byu.edu.
