Preprint CNLP arxiv:cond-mat/ v1 15 May 1998 THE GAUGE EQUIVALENCE OF THE ZAKHAROV EQUATIONS AND (2+1)-DIMENSIONAL CONTINUOUS HEISENBERG FERROMAGNETIC MODELS 1 R. Myrzakulov Centre for Nonlinear Problems, PO Box 30, , Alma-Ata-35, Kazakhstan cnlpmyra@satsun.sci.kz Abstract The gauge equivalence between the (2+1)-dimensional Zakharov equation and (2+1)-dimensional integrable continuous Heisenberg ferromagnetic model is established. Also their integrable reductions are shown explicitly. 1 Preprint CNLP Alma-Ata.1994
The concepts of gauge equivalence between completely integrable equations plays important role in the theory of solitons[1,2]. In the(2+1)-dimensions such equivalence have been constructed recently for the Davey-Stewartson and Ishimori equations[3], for the some Myrzakulov and nonlinear Schrödinger type equations and so on[4-7]. In this Letter we wish find the gauge equivalent counterparts of the some (2+1)-dimensional integrable continuous Heisenberg ferromagnet models(the Myrzakulov- IX equation and its integrable reductions). The Myrzakulov-IX(M-IX) equation (according to the notations of ref.[8]) looks like is t [S,M 1S]+A 2 S x +A 1 S y = 0 (1a) M 2 u = α2 4i tr(s[s y,s x ]) where α,b,a= consts and S = ( S3 rs rs + S 3 ), S ± = S 1 ±is 2 S 2 = I, r 2 = ±1 M 1 = α α(b a) y2 x y +(a2 2ab b) 2 x 2; M 2 = α α(2a+1) y2 x y +a(a+1) 2 x 2, A 1 = 2i{(2ab+a+b)u x (2b+1)αu y } A 2 = 2i{(2ab+a+b)u y α 1 (2a 2 b+a 2 +2ab+b)u x }. (1b) These set of equations is integrable and admits the some integrable reductions: the Myrzakulov-VIII equation as b=0 and the Ishimori equation as a = b = 1 [8]. In general we 2 have the two integrable cases: the M-IXA equation as α 2 = 1 and the M-IXB equation as α 2 = 1. Equation(1) is the (2+1)-dimensional integrable generalisation of the Heisenberg ferromagnetic model is t = 1 2 [S,S xx] (the isotropic Landau- Lifshitz equation). 1
The Lax representation of the M-IX equation(1) is given by[8] αφ y = 1 2 [S +(2a+1)I]Φ x (2a) with Φ t = i 2 [S +(2b+1)I]Φ xx+ i 2 WΦ x (2b) W 1 = W W 2 = (2b+1)E +(2b a+ 1 2 )SS x +(2b+1)FS W 2 = W W 1 = FI S x +ES +αss y E = i 2α u x, F = i 2 ((2a+1)u x 2u y ) α Let us now find the equation which is gauge equivalent to the M-IX equation(1). To this end, we consider the following tranformation Φ = g 1 Ψ (3) where Φ is the matrix solution of linear problem(2), Ψ and g are a temporally unknown matrix functions. Substituting (3) into (2) we get αψ y = 1 2 [gsg 1 +(2a+1)I]Ψ x +[αg y 1 2 gsg 1 g x 1 2 (2a+1)g x]g 1 Ψ (4a) Ψ t = i 2 [gsg 1 +(2b+1)I]Ψ xx +g{i[s+(2b+1)i](g 1 ) x + i 2 Wg 1 }Ψ x + form g{g t g 1 + i [S +(2b+1)I](g 1 xx 2 + i 2 W(g 1 ) x }Ψ. (4b) Now let us choose the unknown function g and S in the ( f1 (1+S g = 3 ) f 1 rs f 2 rs + f 2 (1+S 3 ) where f j are satisfy the following equations ), S = g 1 σ 3 g (5) α(lnf 1 ) y (a+1)(lnf 1 ) x = (a+1)(s 3x+S 3 S 3x +S x S+ ) α(s 3y +S 3 S 3y +S y S+ ) 2(1+S 3 (6a) 2
α(lnf 2 ) y a(lnf 2 ) x = a(s 3x +S 3 S 3x +S + x S ) α(s 3y +S 3 S 3y +S + y S ) 2(1+S 3 (6b) It is follows from (4)-(6) that where B 1 = αg y g 1 B 1 g x g 1 = B 0 (7) ( ) ( ) a q, B 0 a 0 =. p 0 Here p,q are the some complex functions which are equal q = f 1{α[S 3y S Sy (1+S 3)]+(a+1)[S 3x S Sx (1+S 3)]} 2f 2 (1+S 3 ) (8a) p = f 2{a[S 3x S + Sx (1+S 3)]+α[S 3y S + Sy (1+S 3)]}. 2f 1 (1+S 3 ) (8b) Hence we obtain pq = 1 4 {α(2a+1)s xs y +iαs(s x S y ) a(a+1)s 2 x α2 S 2 y }. (9) where S = (S 1,S 2,S 3 ) is the three - dimensional spin(unit) vector. After these calculations equations (4) take the forms αψ y = B 1 Ψ x +B 0 Ψ, (10a) with C2 = Ψ t = ic 2 Ψ xx +C 1 Ψ x +C 0 Ψ, (10b) ( ) ( ) ( ) b iq c11 c, C 0 b 1 =, C ip 0 0 = 12, c 21 c 22 c 12 = i(2b a+1)q x +iαq y, c 21 = i(a 2b)p x iαp y. Here c jj satisfy the following system of equations (a+1)c 11x αc 11y = iqp x +pc 12 qc 21, ac 22x αc 22y = ipq x pc 12 +qc 21 (11) 3
The compatibility condition of equations(10) gives the following (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger type equation iq t +M 1 q +vq = 0, (12a) ip t M 1 p vp = 0, M 2 v = 2M 1 (pq), (12b) (12c) which is the Zakharov equation(ze)[9], where v = i(c 11 c 22 ), p = r 2 q. Thus we proved that the M-IX equation(1) is gauge equivalent to the (2+1)-dimensional ZE(12) and vice versa. In fact the above presented the gauge transformation is reversible. It is interest note that the M-IX equation(1) admits the some integrable reductions. Let us now consider these particular integrable cases. a) Let b = 0. Then equations(1) take the form is t = 1 2 [S ξξ,s]+iws ξ w η = 1 4i tr(s[s ξ,s η ]) (13a) (13b) where ξ = x+ a+1 α y, η = x a α y, w = u ξ, which is the M-VIII equation[8]. The gauge equivalent counterpart of the M-VIII equation(13) we obtain from(12) as b = 0 iq t +q ξξ +vq = 0, (14a) v η = 2r 2 ( qq) ξ, (14b) which is the other Zakharov equation[9]. b) Now consider the case: a = b = 1 2. In this case equations(1) reduces to the well known Ishimori equation is t [S,(1 4 S xx +α 2 S yy )]+iu y S x +iu x S y = 0 (15a) 4
α 2 u yy 1 4 u xx = α2 4i tr(s[s y,s x ]) (15b) The Ishimori equation (15) is of the great interest since it is the first example of the integrablespin systems on the plan. This equation is considered as a useful laboratory for experimenting with new theoretical tools ableto handle the specific featuresof soliton models of spin systems in(2+1)-dimensions. As well known equation(15) allows the rich classes of the topologically nontrivial and nonequivalent solutions(solitons, lumps, vortex, dromions and so on) which are classified by the topological charge Q = 1 +inf dxdys(s x S y ) (16) 4π inf The gauge equivalent counterpart of the equation(60) is the Davey-Stewartson equation iq t q xx +α 2 q yy +vq = 0 α 2 v yy 1 4 v xx = 2{α 2 (pq) yy (pq) xx} (17a) (17b) that follows from the ZE(12). This fact was for first time established in [3]. c) Finally let us consider the reduction: a = 1 2. Then (1) reduces to the M-XVIII equation[8] is t [S,(1 4 S xx α(2b+1)s xy +α 2 S yy )]+A 20 S x +A 10 S y = 0 (18a) α 2 u yy 1 4 u xx = α2 4i tr(s[s y,s x ]) (18b) where A j0 = A j as a = 1 2. The corresponding gauge equivalent equation obtain from(12) and looks like iq t q xx α(2b+1)q xy +α 2 q yy +vq = 0 (19a) α 2 v yy 1 4 v xx = 2{α 2 (pq) yy α(2b+1)(pq) xy (pq) xx} (19b) 5
Note that the Lax representations of equations(13), (15) and (18) we can get from (2) as b = 0,a = b = 1 2 and a = 1 2 respectively. In summary, we constructed the gauge equivalent equation to the M-IX equation which is the Zakharov equation. Also the integrable reductions of the M-IX equation and their gauge equivalent counterparts are presented. References [1] Zakharov V E and Takhtajan L A 1979 Theor. Math.
