1 Consensus on Moving Neighborhood Model of Peerson Graph arxiv:.9v [cs.dc] 8 Mar Hannah Arend and Jorgensen Jos Absrac In his paper, we sudy he consensus problem of muliple agens on a kind of famous graph, Peersongraph. I is an undireced graphwih vericesand 5edges. Eachagenrandomlywalksonhis graphand communicaes wih each oher if and only if hey coincide on a node a he same ime. We conduc numerical sudy on he consensus problem in his framework and show ha global consensus can be achieved. Keywords: consensus problem; discree-ime proocol; Peerson graph. This is he exended absrac prepped by HA. 2 Inroducion In a consensus problem, a se of agens aim o make an agreemen on some quaniies of ineres via disribuive decision making. The informaion ineracions are based upon local neighboring srucure. A consensus is said o be achieved if all agens in he sysem end o agree on he quaniies of ineres as ime approaches infiniy, cf. survey papers [7, ] and references herein. Especially, he speed of synchronizaion is invesigaed in []. Ali Jadbabaie e al. [5] sudied a simple model of flocking inroduced by Vicsek e al. [] showing ha all agens will reach consensus as ime goes on, provided he communicaion graph swiching deerminisically over ime is periodically joinly conneced. Some researchers have also reaed random siuaions, see e.g. [, 8]. Recenly, a new model called moving neighborhood nework is inroduced in []. In his model, each agen carries an oscillaor and diffuses in he environmen. The compuer simulaion shows ha synchronizaion is possible even when he communicaion nework is spaially disconneced in general a any given ime insan. Subsequenly, several researchers have derived analyical resuls on he moving neighborhood neworks, see e.g. [, 9, 6,, ]. The aim of his paper is o implemen consensus on moving neighborhood nework modeled by he famous Peerson graph []. See Fig.. There are many ineresing characerisics of Peerson graph in mahemaics. For example, i is raceable bu no Hamilonian. Tha is, i has a Hamilonian pah bu doesn have a Hamilonian cycle. I is also he canonical example of a hypohamilonian graph. In his paper, we show ha i is possible o reach consensus on hem by using moving neighborhood model. Preliminaries Le G = (V,E,W) be a weighed graph wih verex se V. E is a se of pairs of elemens of V called edges. W = (w ij ) is he weigh marix, in which w ij > if (i,j) E, and w ij = oherwise. Consider n idenical agens {v,v,,v n } as random walkers on G, moving randomly o a neighbor of
3 Figure : An example of Peerson graph, which has verices and 5 edges. heir curren locaion in G a any given ime. For each agen, he random neighbor ha is chosen is no affeced by he agen s previous rajecory. The n random walk processes are independen o each oher. If v i and v j mee a he same node simulaneously, hen hey can inerac wih each oher by sending informaion. Le X i () R be he sae of agen v i a ime. We use he following consensus proocol X i (+) = X i ()+ε j N i () b ij ()(X j () X i ()) () where ε > and N i () is he index se of neighbors of agen v i a ime. The facor b ij > for i j, and b ii = for i n. Le A() = (a ij ()) be he adjacency marix of he moving neighborhood nework, whose enries are given by, a ij () = { b ij (), (v i,v j ) E(), oherwise for i,j n. Suppose ha := max i n ( n j= b ij()), and we furher assume ε (,/ ) for all. We will show ha he of all agens walking on a Peerson graph reach consensus as ime goes on. Numerical examples For Peerson graph represened in Fig., we ake he weigh marix as he adjacency marix. In addiion, we ake he b ij () randomly from a se of
4 basic funcions such as e, sin(), cos() and so on.
