We study glueballs with two gluons using the Fock-Tani formalism. Keywords: Constituent Models; Glueballs; Fock-Tani. 1. Introduction The gluon self-coupling in QCD implies the existence of bound states of pure gauge fields known as glueballs. Numerous technical difficulties have so far been present in our understanding of their properties in experiments, largely because glueball states can mix strongly with nearby q q resonances. However recent experimental and lattice studies of ++, 2 ++ and + glueballs seem to be convergent. In the present we follow a different approach by applying the Fock-Tani formalism in order to obtain an effective interaction between glueballs 1. A glueball-glueball crosssection can be obtained and compared with usual meson-meson cross-sections. 2. Fock-Tani Formalism for Glueballs The starting point is the creation operator of a glueball formed by two constituent gluons G α = 1 Φ µν α a µa ν 2 where gluons obey the following commutation relations [a µ,a ν ] = ; [a µ,a ν ] = δ µν 1
2 2 M. L. L. da Silva, D. Hadjimichef The composite glueball operator satisfy non-canonical commutation relations where [G α,g β ] = ; [G α,g β ] = δ αβ + αβ δ αβ = Φ ργ α Φ γρ β ; αβ = 2Φ µγ α Φ γρ β a ρa µ The Fock-Tani formalism introduces ideal particles which obey canonical relations, in our case they are ideal glueballs [g α,g β ] = ; [g α,g β ] = δ αβ This way one can transform the composite glueball state α into an ideal state α by α = U 1 ( π 2 G α = g α where U = exp(tf and F is the generator of the glueball transformation given by with F = g α G α G α g α (1 G α = G α 1 2 αβg β 1 2 G β [ βγ,g α ]G γ In order to obtain the effective glueball-glueball potential one has to use (1 in a set of Heisenberg-like equations for the basic operators g, G,a dg α (t dt = [g α,f] = G α ; d G α (t dt = [ G α (t,f] = g α. The simplicity of these equations are not present in the equations for a da µ (t = [a µ,f] = 2Φ µν 2 β dt a ν g β + 2 Φµν β a ν βαg β + Φ µγ α Φγµ β (G β a µ g β g β a µ G β 2(Φ µρ α Φ µ γ ρ Φ γ ρ γ +Φ µ ρ α Φ µγ ρ Φ γ ρ γ G γa µ G βg β The solution for these equation can be found order by order in the wavefunctions. So, for zero order one has a ( µ = a µ g ( α (t = G α sint+g α cost ; G ( β (t = G β cost g β sint In the first order g (1 α =, G (1 β = and In the second order we found a (1 µ (t = 2Φ µν β a ν[g ( β G β] a (2 µ (t = 2Φ µγ α Φγµ β G β a µ G( α +Φ µγ α Φγµ β G β a µ G α +Φ µγ α Φγµ β G ( β a µ G ( α

The glueball-glueball potential can be obtained applying in a standard way the Fock-Tani transformed operators to the microscopic Hamiltonian H(µν;σρ = T aa (µa µ a µ V aa(µν;σρa µ a ν a ρa σ where one obtains for the glueball-gluball potential V gg and V gg = 4 V i (αγ;δβg α g γ g δg β (2 i=1 V 1 (αγ;δβ = 2V aa (µν;σρφ µτ α Φ νξ γ Φ ρξ δ Φστ β V 2 (αγ;δβ = 2V aa (µν;σρφ µτ α Φ νξ γ Φ ρτ δ Φσξ β V (αγ;δβ = V aa (µν;σρφ µν α Φ λξ γ Φ σλ δ Φρξ β V 4 (αγ;δβ = V aa (µν;σρφ µξ α Φ νλ γ Φ λξ δ Φρσ β. Fig. 1. Diagrams representing the scattering amplitude h fi for glueball-glueball interaction with constituent gluon interchange. The next step is to obtain the scattering T-matrix from Eq. (2 T(αβ;γδ = (αβ V gg γδ. Due to translational invariance, the T-matrix element is written as a momentum conservation delta-function, times a Born-order matrix element, h fi : T(αβ;γδ = δ ( ( P f P i h fi, where P f and P i are the final and initial momenta of the twoglueball system. This result can be used in order to evaluate the glueball-glueball scattering cross-section σ gg = 4π5 s s 4MG 2 dt h fi 2 ( (s 4M 2 G where M G is the glueball mass, s and t are the Mandelstam variables.
4 4 M. L. L. da Silva, D. Hadjimichef. The Constituent Gluon Model On theoretical grounds, a simple potential model with massive constituent gluons, namely the model of Cornwall and Soni 2, has been studied 4, 5 and the results are consistent with lattice and experiment. In the conventional quark model a ++ state is considered as q q bound state. The ++ resonance is a isospin zero state so, in principal, it can be either represented as a q q bound state, a glueball, or a mixture. In particular there is growing evidence in the direction of large s s content with some mixture with the glue sector. It turns out that this resonance is an interesting system, in the theoretical point of view, where one can compare models. In the present work we consider two possibilities for ++ : (i a as pure s s and calculate, in the context of a quark interchange picture, the cross-section; (ii as a glueball where a new calculation for this cross-section is made, in the context of the constituent gluon model, with gluon interchange. The potential V aa is determined in the Cornwall and Soni constituent gluon model 2 where and V2g OGEP (r = λ V aa (r = 1 face f bde[ V OGEP 2g (r+v S (r ] (4 [ω 1 e mr r ] π +ω 2 m 2 D(r D(r = k m 2 m 2 r 2 e k, λ = g2 π/2 4π, V S (r = 2m(1 e βmr (5, ω 1 = S 2, ω 2 = S 2.(6 The parameters λ, m, k and β assume known values,4,5 while the wave function Φ µν α is given in 6. Cross-section comparison for ++ with the following parameters β =.1, λ = 1.8, k =.21, gluon mass m =.6GeV. The s s quark model parameters: m q =.55 GeV, α s = Conclusions In this work we have extended the Fock-Tani Formalism to a hadronic model in which the bound state is composed by bosons. The Cornwall-Soni constituent gluon model has been successful in describing low mass glueballs, in particular the ++ resonance, which is a isospin zero state. This state can be either represented as a
6 6 M. L. L. da Silva, D. Hadjimichef q q bound state, a glueball, or a mixture. In the present work we have considered two possibilities for ++ : a as pure s s and as a glueball. A comparison of the cross-sections reveals that a quark composition for the ++ implies in a larger rms radius than in the constituent gluon picture. This could represent a criterion for distinguishing between pictures. Acknowledgements The author (M.L.L.S. was supported by Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq.
