adii of the β uniformly convex of order α of Lommel and Struve functions Sercan Topkaya, Erhan Deniz and Murat Çağlar arxiv: v [math.cv] 4 Nov 07 Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Letters, Kafkas University, Campus, 3600, Kars-Turkey topkaya.sercan@hotmail.com, edeniz36@gmail.com & mcaglar5@gmail.com Abstract In this paper, we determine the radii of β uniformly convex of order α for six kinds of normalized Lommel and Struve functions of the first kind. In the cases considered the normalized Lommel and Struve functions are β uniformly convex functions of order α on the determined disks. Keywords: Lommel functions, Struve functions, Univalent functions, β uniformly convex functions of order α, Zeros of Lommel functions of the first kind, Zeros of Struve functions of the first kind. AMS Class: 30C45, 30C80, 33C0. Introduction and Preliminaries It is well known that the concepts of convexity, starlikeness, close-to-convexity and uniform convexity including necessary and sufficient conditions, have a long history as a part of geometric function theory. It is known that special functions, like Bessel, Struve and Lommel functions of the first kind have some beautiful geometric properties. ecently, the above geometric properties of the Bessel functions were investigated by some earlier results see [ 5, ]. On the other hand the radii of convexity and starlikeness of the Struve and Lommel functions were studied by Baricz and his coauthors [8,0]. Motivated by the above developments in this topic, in this paper our aim is to give some new results for the radius of β uniformly convex functions of order α of the normalized Struve and Lommel functions of the first kind. In the special cases of the parameters α and β we can obtain some earlier results.the key tools in their proofs were some Mittag-Leffler
expansions of Lommel and Struve functions of the first kind, special properties of the zeros of these functions and their derivatives. Let Uz 0, r = {z C : z z 0 < r} denote the disk of radius r and center z 0. We let Ur = U0, r and U = U0, = {z C : z < }. Let a n n be a sequence of complex numbers with d = lim sup a n n 0, and rf = n d. If d = 0 then r f = +. As usual, with A we denote the class of analytic functions f : Ur f C of the form fz = z + a n z n.. We say that a function f of the form. is convex if f is univalent and fur is a convex domain in C. An analytic description of this definition is f A is convex if and only if + zf z > 0, z Ur. f z n= The radius of convexity of the function f is defined by { rf c = sup r 0, r f : + zf } z > 0, z Ur. f z In the following we deal with the class of the uniformly convex functions. Goodman in [3] introduced the concept of uniform convexity for functions of the form.. A function f is said to be uniformly convex in Ur if f is of the form., it is convex, and has the property that for every circular arc γ contained in Ur, with center ς, also in Ur, the arc fγ is convex. In 993, ønning [] determined necessary and sufficient conditions of analytic functions to be uniformly convex in the open unit disk, while in 00 avichandran [0] also presented simpler criteria for uniform convexity. ønning in [] give an analytic description of the uniformly convex functions in the following theorem. Theorem. Let f be a function of the form fz = z + n= a nz n in the disk Ur. The function f is uniformly convex in the disk Ur if and only if + zf z > f z zf z f z, z Ur.. The class of uniformly convex function denote by U C. The radius of uniform convexity
is defined by r uc f { = sup r 0, r f : + zf z > f z zf z f z }, z Ur. In 997, Bharti, Parvatham and Swaminathan defined β uniformly convex functions of order α which is subclass of uniformly convex functions. A function f A is said to be in the class of β uniformly convex functions of order α, denoted by β UCα, if where β 0, α [0, see []. { + zf } z > β f z zf z f z + α,.3 This class generalize various other classes which are worthy to mention here. example, the class β UC0 = β UC is the class of β uniformly convex functions [4] also see [5] and [6] and UC0 = UC is the class of uniformly convex functions defined by Goodman [3] and onning [], respectively. Geometric Interpretation. It is known that f β UCα if and only if + zf z f z, respectively, takes all the values in the conic domain β,α which is included in the right half plane given by β,α := { w = u + iv C : u > β } u + v + α, β 0 and α [0,..4 Denote by PP β,α, β 0, 0 α < the family of functions p, such that p P, where P denotes the well-known class of Caratheodory functions and p P β,α in U. The function P β,α maps the unit disk conformally onto the domain β,α such that β,α and β,α is a curve defined by the equality β,α := { w = u + iv C : u = β } u + v + α, β 0 and α [0,..5 For From elementary computations we see that.5 represents conic sections symmetric about the real axis. Thus β,α is an elliptic domain for β >, a parabolic domain for β =, a hyperbolic domain for 0 < β < and the right half plane u > α, for β = 0. The radius of β uniform convexity of order α is defined by r β ucα f { { = sup r 0, r f : + zf } z f z > β zf z f z } + α, β 0, α [0,, z Ur. Our main aim to determine the radii of β uniform convexity of order α of Lommel and Struve functions. In order to prove the main results, we need the following lemma given in []. 3
Lemma. i. If a > b > r z, and λ [0, ], then z b z λ z a z r b r λ r a r..6 The followings are very simple consequences of this inequality z b z λ z a z r b r λ r a r.7 and ii. If b > a > r z, then z b z z b z r b r..8 a + zb z a rb + r..9 Main results In this paper our aim is to consider two classical special functions, the Lommel function of the first kind s µ,ν and the Struve function of the first kind H ν. They are explicitly defined in terms of the hypergeometric function F by s µ,ν z = µ ± ν 3 / N and H ν z = z µ+ µ ν + µ + ν + F ; z ν+ π 4 Γ ν + 3 µ ν + 3, F ; 3, ν + 3 ; z, ν 3 4 µ + ν + 3 ; z, 4 / N. Observe that s ν,ν z = ν πγ ν + H ν z. A common feature of these functions is that they are solutions of inhomogeneous Bessel differantial equations [4]. Indeed, the Lommel functions of the first kind s µ,ν is a solution of z w z + zw z + z ν w z = z µ+ while the Struve function H ν obeys z w z + zw z + z ν w z = ν+ 4 z. πγ ν + 4
We refer to Watson s treatise [4] for comprehensive information about these functions and recall here briefly some contributions. In 970 Steinig [] investigated the real zeros of the Struve function H ν, while in 97 he [3] examined the sign of s µ,ν z for real µ, ν and positive z. He showed, among other things, that for µ < the function s µ,ν has infinitely many changes of sign on 0,. In 0 Koumandos and Lamprecht [7] obtained sharp estimates for the location of the zeros of s µ, type inequalities for s µ, when µ 0,. Turán were establised in [6] while those for Struve function were and of the Struve proved in [9]. Geometric properties of the Lommel function s µ, function H ν were obtained in [7,8,0,9,5]. Motivated by those results, in this paper we are interested on the radii of β uniformly convex of order α of certain analytic functions related to the classical special functions under discussion. Since neither s µ,, nor H ν belongs to the class analytic functioıns, first we perform some natural normalizations, as in [8]. We define three functions related to s µ, f µ z = f µ, z = µ µ + s µ, µ+ z, : and g µ z = g µ, z = µ µ + z µ+ sµ, z, h µ z = h µ, z = µ µ + z 3 µ 4 s µ, z. Similarly, we associate with H ν the functions π u ν z = ν Γ ν + 3 ν+ H ν z, v ν z = π ν z ν Γ ν + 3 H ν z, and w ν z = π ν z ν Γ ν + 3 H ν z. Clearly the functions f µ, g µ, h µ, u ν, v ν and w ν belong to the class of analytic functions A. The main results in the present paper concern some interlacing properties of the zeros of Lommel and Struve functions and derivatives, as well as the exact values of the radii of β uniform convexity of order α for these six functions, for some ranges of the parameters. In the following, we present some lemmas given by Baricz and Yağmur [0], on the zeros of derivatives of Lommel an Struve functions of first kind. These lemmas is one of the key tools in the proof of our main results. 5
Lemma. The zeros of the Lommel function s µ, and its derivative interlace when µ,, µ 0. Moreover, the zeros ξ µ,n of the function s are all real and simple µ, when µ,, µ 0. Lemma. The zeros of the function H ν and its derivative interlace when ν. Moreover, the zeros h ν,n of the function H ν are all real and simple when ν. Now, the first main result of this section presents the radii of β uniform convexity of order α of functions f µ, g µ and h µ. Theorem. Let µ,, µ 0 and suppose that µ. Then the radius of β uniform convexity of order α of the function f µ is the smallest positive root of the equation rs r µ α + + β, s r + µ + µ, rs r µ, s µ, r Moreover r β ucα f µ < rf c µ < ξ µ, < ξ µ,, where ξ µ, and ξ µ, denote the first positive zeros of s µ, and s, respectively and r µ, f c µ is the radius of convexity of the function f µ. Proof. In [0], authors proved the Mittag-Leffler expansions of s µ, z and s z µ, as follows: s µ, z = zµ+ z. µµ + and s µ, z = n µ + z µ µµ + n ξ µ,n z ξ µ,n where ξ µ,n and ξ µ,n denote the n-th positive roots of s µ, Observe also that = 0.. and s, respectively. µ, zf µz zs z + f µz = + µ, s z + µ + µ, zs z µ, s µ, z..3 Thus, from.,. and.3, we have + zf µz f µz = µ + n z ξµ,n z z ξ n µ,n z. Now, the proof will be presented in three cases by considering the intervals of µ. Firstly, suppose that µ 0, ]. Since 0, inequality.8 implies for z r < µ+ 6
ξ µ, < ξ µ, zf µz + f µz = z ξ n µ,n z µ + r ξ n µ,n r µ + n rf µr = + f µr. n r ξ µ,n r z.4 ξµ,n z On the other hand, if in the second part of inequality.8 we replace z by z and b by ξ µ,n and ξ µ,n, respectively, then it follows that z ξ µ,n z r ξ µ,n r and z ξ µ,n z r ξ µ,n r provided that z r < ξ µ, < ξ µ,. These two inequalities and the conditions 0 µ+ and β 0, imply that zf β µz z z f µz = β ξ n µ,n z + µ + ξ µ,n z β z ξ n µ,n z + β µ + z ξ n µ,n z β r r ξ n µ,n r + rf µr µ + = β ξ µ,n r f µr..5 From.4 and.5 we infer zf µz zf + µz f µz f µz where z r < ξ µ, and α [0,, β 0. α α + + βrf µr f µr,.6 In the second step we will prove that inequalities.4 and.5 hold in the case µ,, too. Indeed in the case µ, the roots 0 < ξ µ,n < ξ µ,n are real for every natural number n. Moreover, inequality.8 implies that z z ξ µ,n z ξ µ,n z r ξ µ,n r, z r < ξ µ, < ξ µ, and z ξµ,n z z ξ µ,n z r ξ µ,n r, z r < ξ µ, < ξ µ,. 7
Putting λ = µ+ inequality.7 implies z ξ µ,n z z µ + r ξ µ,n z ξ µ,n r r µ + ξ µ,n r, for z r < ξ µ, < ξ µ,, and we get zf µz + f µz = z ξ n µ,n z = + r n rf µr f µr. ξ µ,n r µ + z µ + ξ µ,n z r ξ µ,n r.7 Now, if in the inequality.6 we replace z by z and b by ξ µ,n and ξ µ,n we again put λ =, it follows that µ+ z ξ µ,n z ξµ,n z z µ + r ξ µ,n r r µ + ξ µ,n r, provided that z r < ξ µ, < ξ µ,. Thus, for β 0 we obtain zf β µz z f µz = β ξ n µ,n z β z ξ n µ,n z β r ξ n µ,n r z µ + ξ µ,n z z µ + ξ µ,n z r µ + ξ µ,n r rf µr = β f µr..8 Finally the following inequality be infered from.7 and.8 for µ, zf µz zf + µz f µz f µz where z r < ξ µ, and α [0,, β 0. Equality holds.7 if and only if z = r. Thus it follows that [ zf µz inf + z <r f µz zf µz f µz α α + + βrf µr f µr,.9 ] α for r 0, ξ µ,, α [0,, β 0 and µ 0,. rf µr = α + + β f µr, 8
The mapping ψ µ : 0, ξ µ, defined by rf µr ψ µ r = α++β f µr = α +β r ξ n µ,n r r µ + ξ µ,n r is strictly decreasing for all µ 0, and α [0,, β 0. Namely, we obtain ψ µr = + β 4r ξ µ,n n ξ µ,n r 4r ξµ,n < + β n µ + ξ µ,n r 4r ξ µ,n ξ µ,n r 4r ξ µ,n ξ µ,n r < 0 for µ,, r 0, ξ µ, and β 0. Here we used again that the zeros ξ µ,n and ξ µ,n interlace, and for all n N, µ 0, and r < ξ µ,n ξ µ,n we have that ξ µ,n ξ µ,n r < ξ µ,n ξ µ,n r. Let now µ 0, ] and r > 0. Thus the following inequality ψ µr = + β n 4r ξ µ,n ξ µ,n r 4r ξµ,n µ + ξ µ,n r < 0 is satisfy and thus ψ µ is indeed strictly decreasing for all µ 0, and β 0. Now, since lim r 0 ψ µ r = and lim r ξ µ, ψ µ r =, in wiew of the minimum principle for harmonic functions it follows that for µ 0, and z Ur β ucα f µ we have zf µz zf + µz f µz f µz α > 0.0 if and only if r β ucα f µ is the unique root of rf µr + + β f µr = α, α [0, and β 0.. In the final step we will proved that inequality.0 also holds when µ, 0. In order to this, suppose that µ 0, and since see [6] the function z ϕ 0 z = µµ+z µ s µ, z belongs to the Laguerre-Pólya class of entire functions, it satisfies the Laguerre inequality ϕ n 0 z ϕ n 0 z ϕ n+ 0 z > 0, 9
where µ 0, and z. Substituting µ by µ, ϕ 0 by the function ϕ z = µµ z µ+ s µ 3, z and taking into account that the nth positive zeros of ϕ and ϕ, denoted by ζ µ,n and ζ µ,n, interlace, since ϕ belongs also to the Laguerre-Pólya class of entire functions see [6]. It is worth mentioning that zf µ z + f µ z n r ζ µ,n r µ r. ζµ,n r n and zf β µ z f µ z β r ζ n µ,n r + µ r ζµ,n r.3 holds for µ 0,, β 0 and µ. In this case we use again minimum principle for harmonic functions to ensure that.0 is valid for µ instead of µ. Consequently, replacing µ by µ +, the equation. is satisfy for µ, 0, α [0, and β 0. Thus the proof is complete. β =. As a result of the Theorem., the following corollary is obtained by taking α = 0 ve Corollary. Let µ,, µ 0 and suppose that µ. Then the radius of uniform convexity of the function f µ is the smallest positive root of the equation rs r µ +, s r + µ + µ, rs r µ, s µ, r Moreover rf uc µ < rf c µ < ξ µ, < ξ µ,, where ξ µ, and ξ µ, denote the first positive zeros of s µ, and s, respectively and r µ, f c µ is the radius of convexity of the function f µ. = 0. 0

Proof. Let ξ µ,n and γ µ,n denote the n-th positive root of s µ, and g µ, respectively and the smallest positive root of g µ does not exceed the first positive root of s µ,. In [0] with the help of Hadamard s Theorem [8, p.6], the following equality was proved: + zg µz g µz = z γ n µ,n z. By using inequality.8, for all z Uγ µ, we have the inequality where z = r. + zg µz r.4 g µz γ n µ,n r On the other hand, again by using inequality.8, for all z Uγ µ, and β 0 we get the inequality zg β µz z g µz = β γ n µ,n z β z γ n µ,n z β r rg µr = β γ n µ,n r g µr. Finally the following inequality be infered from.4 and zg µz zg µz µr g µz g µz α α + + βrg, β 0, α [0,,.6 g µr
where z = r. Thus, for r 0, γ µ,, β 0 and α [0, we obtain [ inf + zg µz zg ] µz z <r g µz g µz α The mapping Θ µ : 0, γ µ, defined by = α + + β rg µr g µr. Θ µ r = α + + β rg µr g µr = α + β r γ n µ,n r is strictly decreasing since lim r 0 Θ µ r = and lim r γµ, Θ µ r =. As a result in wiew of the minimum principle for harmonic functions it follows that for α [0,, β 0 and z Ur we have if and only if r is the unique root of situated in 0, γ µ,. β =. + zg µz zg µz g µz g µz α > β rg µr g µr = α, α [0, and β 0 As a result of the Theorem., the next corollary is obtained by taking α = 0 ve Corollary. Proof. Let ξ µ,n and δ µ,n denote the n-th positive root of s µ, and h µ, respectively and the smallest positive root of h µ does not exceed the first positive root of s µ,. In [0] with the help of Hadamard s Theorem [8, p.6], the following equality was proved: + zh µz h µz = z δ n µ,n z. By using inequality.8, for all z Uδ µ, we obtain the inequality + zh µz r h µz δ n µ,n r.7 where z = r. Moreover, again by using inequality.8, for all z Uδ µ, and β 0 we get the 3
inequality zh β µz z h = β µz δ n µ,n z β z δ n µ,n z β n r δ µ,n r rh µr = β h µr..8 As a result, from.7 and.8 we have + zh µz h µz zh µz h µz µr α α + + βrh h µr.9 where z = r. Thus, for r 0, δ µ,, β 0 and α [0, we have [ inf + zh µz z <r h µz The mapping Φ µ : 0, δ µ, defined by zh ] µz h µz α = α + + β rh µr h µr. Φ µ r = α + + β rh µr h µr = α + β r δ n µ,n r is strictly decreasing since lim r 0 Φ µ r = > α and lim r δµ, Φ µ r =. Consequently, in wiew of the minimum principle for harmonic functions it follows that for α [0,, β 0 and z Ur we have + zh µz h µz if and only if r is the unique root of zh µz h µz α > β rh µr h µr = α, α [0, and β 0. situated in 0, δ µ,. β =. As a result of the Theorem.3, the following corollary is obtained by taking α = 0 ve Corollary.3 Let µ,, µ 0 and suppose that µ. Then the radius of 4

where r, r and r 3 is the smallest positive root of the equations given Corollary.-.3 for µ = 3. Secondly, the other main result of this section presents the β uniform convexity of order α of functions u ν, v ν and w ν, related to Struve s one. The first part of next theorem is an interesting of Lemma.. Theorem.4 Let ν and 0 α <. Then the radius of β uniform convexity of order α of the function u ν is the smallest positive root of the equation rh α + + β νr rh H νr + ν + ν r = 0. H ν r Moreover r β ucα u ν < r c u ν < h ν, < h ν,, where h ν, and h ν, denote the first positive zeros of H ν and H ν, respectively. Proof. We note that + zu νz u νz = + zh νz H νz + zh ν + ν z H ν z Using the Mittag-Leffler expansions of H ν and H ν [0, Theorem 4] given by H ν z = z ν+ πγ ν + 3 z h n ν,n.0 and H νz = ν + zν πν Γ z ν + 3 h n ν,n. where h ν,n and h ν,n denote the n-th positive root of H ν and H ν, respectively. From.0 and.0, we obtain zh νz H ν z = ν + z h n ν,n z, + zh νz H νz = ν + n z h ν,n z. Thus, we have + zu νz u νz = ν + n z h ν,n z z h n ν,n z. Now, the proof will be presented in two cases by considering the intervals of ν. 6
Firstly, suppose that ν [, 0]. Since 0, inequality.8 implies ν+ + zu νz u νz = z h n ν,n z ν + n r h n ν,n r ν + n = + ru νr u νr. r h ν,n r z. h ν,n z On the other hand, if in the second part of inequality.8 we replace z by z and by h ν, and h ν,, respectively, then it follows that z ν,n z h r h ν,n r and z h ν,n z r h ν,n r provided that z r < h ν, < h ν,. These two inequalities and the conditions ν+ 0 and β 0, imply that β zu νz z z u = β νz h n ν,n z + ν + h ν,n z β z h n ν,n z + β ν + z h n ν,n z β r r h n ν,n r + ν + = β ru νr h ν,n r u νr..3 From. and.3 we get + zu νz zu νz u νz u νz where z r < h ν, and β 0, α [0,. α α + + νr βru u νr,.4 Secondly, in the case ν [ 0, ] the roots 0 < h ν, < h ν,, are real for every natural number n. Moreover, inequality.8 implies that z h ν,n z z ν,n z h r h ν,n r, z r < h ν, < h ν, and z h ν,n z z h ν,n z r h ν,n r, z r < h ν, < h ν,. 7
Putting λ =, inequality.7 implies ν+ z h ν,n z z r ν + h ν,n z h ν,n r r ν + h ν,n r, for z r < h ν, < h ν,, and we get + zu νz u νz = z h n ν,n z r n = + ru νr u νr. h ν,n r ν + z ν + h ν,n z r h ν,n r.5 Now, if in the inequality.6 we replace z by z and we again put λ =, it follows ν+ that z h ν,n z h ν,n z z ν + r h ν,n r r ν + h ν,n r, provided that z r < h ν, < h ν,. Thus, for β 0 we have β zu νz z u = β νz h n ν,n z β z h n ν,n z β r h n ν,n r z ν + h ν,n z z ν + h ν,n z r ν + h ν,n r = β ru νr u νr..6 As a result, the following inequality be infered from.5 and.6 such as. and.3 + zu νz zu νz u νz u νz where z r < h ν, and β 0, α [0,. α α + + νr βru u νr,.7 Equality holds.4 and.7 if and only if z = r. Thus it follows that [ ] inf + zu νz zu νz z <r u νz u νz α where r 0, h ν, and β 0, α [0,. = α + + β ru νr u νr, 8
The mapping ψ ν : 0, h ν, defined by ψ ν r = + + β ru νr u νr = + β r h n ν,n r r ν + h ν,n r is strictly decreasing for all ν and β 0. Namely, we obtain ψ νr = + β 4rh ν,n n h ν,n r 4rh ν,n ν + h ν,n r < + β 4rh ν,n n h ν,n r 4rh ν,n h ν,n r < 0 for ν [ 0, ], r 0, h ν, and β 0. Here we used again that the zeros h ν,n and h ν,n interlace, and for all n N, ν and r < h ν,n h ν,n we have that h ν,n h ν,n r < h ν,n h ν,n r. Observe that when ν [, 0] and r > 0 we have also that ψ νr < 0, and thus ψ ν is indeed strictly decreasing for all ν and β 0. Now, since lim r 0 ψ ν r = and lim r h ν, ψ ν r =, in wiew of the minimum principle for harmonic functions it follows that for ν and z Ur 3 we get if and only if r 3 is the unique root of situated in 0, h ν,. β =. + zu νz zu νz u νz u > α..8 νz + + β ru νr u νr = α, α [0, and β 0. As a result of the Theorem.4, the next corollary is obtained by taking α = 0 ve Corollary.4 Let ν. Then the radius of uniform convexity of the function u ν is the smallest positive root of the equation rh + νr rh H νr + ν + ν r = 0. In [0], the following equality was proved: + zv νz v νz = ν + z νh νz + zh νz νh ν z + zh νz = n z ς ν,n z. By using inequality.8, for all z Uς ν, we have the inequality where z = r. + zv νz r.9 v νz ς n ν,n r On the other hand, again by using inequality.8, for all z Uς ν, and β 0 we get 0
the inequality β zv νz z v νz = β ς n ν,n z β z ς n ν,n z β r rv = β νr ς n ν,n r v νr..30 Finally the following inequality be infered from.9 and.30 + zv νz zv νz v νz v νz α α + + νr βrv, β 0,.3 v νr where z = r. Thus, for r 0, ς ν,, β 0 and α [0, we obtain [ ] inf + zv νz zv νz z <r v νz v νz α The mapping Θ ν : 0, ς ν, defined by = α + + β rv νr v νr. Θ ν r = + + β rv νr v νr = + β r ς n ν,n r is strictly decreasing since lim r 0 Θ ν r = and lim r ςν, Θ ν r =. As a result in wiew of the minimum principle for harmonic functions it follows that for α [0,, β 0 and z Ur 4 we have if and only if r 4 is the unique root of situated in 0, ς ν,. β =. + zv νz zv νz v νz v νz > α. + + β rv νr v νr = α, α [0, and β 0, As a result of the Theorem.5, the following corollary is obtained by taking α = 0 ve Corollary.5 Let ν. Then the radius of uniform convexity of the function v ν is
the smallest positive root of the equation + ν r νh νr + rh νr = 0. νh ν r + rh νr Moreover r uc v ν < r c v ν < ς ν, < h ν,, where h ν, and ς ν, denote the first positive zeros of H ν and v ν, respectively. The graph of the fuction r + ν r νh ν r+rh ν r νh νr+rh ν r for ν { 0.3, 0.5, 0, 0.5} on [0,.] Theorem.6 Let ν and 0 α <. Then the radius of β uniformly convex of order α of the function w ν is the smallest positive root of the equation α + β + ν r νh ν r + rh ν r νh ν r + rh ν r Moreover r β ucα w ν < r c w ν < σ ν, < h ν,, where h ν, and σ ν, denote the first positive zeros of H ν and w ν, respectively. Proof. Let h ν,n and σ ν,n denote the n-th positive root of H ν and w ν, respectively and the smallest positive root of w ν does not exceed the first positive root of H ν. In [0], the following equality was proved, + zw νz w νz = [ ν + r νh ν r + rh ν ] r νh ν r + rh ν r = n = 0. z σ ν,n z. By using inequality.8, for all z Uσ ν, we obtain the inequality + zw νz r w νz σ n ν,n r.3 where z = r. Moreover, again by using inequality.8, for all z Uσ ν, and β 0 we get the
inequality β zw νz z w νz = β σ n ν,n z β z σ n ν,n z β r rw = β νr σ n ν,n r w νr..33 As a result, the following inequality be infered from.3 and.33 + zw νz β zw νz w νz w νz α νr α++βrw, β 0 and α [0,..34 w νr where z = r. So, for r 0, σ ν,, β 0 and α [0, we have [ ] inf + zw νz zw νz z <r w νz w νz α The mapping Φ ν : 0, σ ν, defined by = α + + β rw νr w νr. Φ ν r = + + β rw νr w νr = + β r σ n ν,n r is strictly decreasing since lim r 0 Φ ν r = > α and lim r σν, Φ ν r =. Consequently, in wiew of the minimum principle for harmonic functions it follows that for α [0,, β 0 and z Ur 5 we obtain if and only if r 5 is the unique root of situated in 0, σ ν,. β =. + zw νz zw νz w νz w νz > α. + + β rw νr w νr = α, α [0, and β 0. As a result of the Theorem.6, the next corollary is obtained by taking α = 0 ve Corollary.6 Let ν. Then the uniformly convexity of the function w ν is the 3

Moreover r uc w ν < r c w ν < σ ν, < h ν,, where h ν, and σ ν, denote the first positive zeros of H ν and w ν, respectively. The graph of the fuction r ν + r νh ν r+ rh ν r νh ν r+ rh ν r for ν { 0.3, 0.5, 0, 0.5} on [0,.7] Using the following representation of Struve functions of order / in terms of elementary trigonometric functions H z = cos z πz we obtain u z = cos z 3 cos z 3, v z = z z and w z = cos z. We state the following results for the functions u, v u z UC in the disk Ur =.38, v z UC in the disk Ur = , w z UC in the disk Ur 3 =.4674, and w. where r, r and r 3 is the smallest positive root of the equations z cos z z z + sin z = 0, cos z z 3 z sin z + 3 = 0, 4
