1 8 IJCSNS International Journal of Computer Science and Netork Securit, VOL. No., March Designing a Segment Displa for Bengali Compound Character Md. Shahnur ad Chodhur, Ms Sultana kter and Md man Ullah International Islamic Universit Chittagong, Bangladesh Summar Characters can be represented in hardare using dot matri sstem or segmented displa. Dot matri displa costs etra memor, poer and time compared to segmented displa as large numbers of dots are required to be manipulated in dot matri sstem. But due to the high cost and compleit of matri displas, segment displa is generall used to displa characters. lthough recentl different segmented displa models for Bangla characters have been proposed, the qualit of the characters sta belo the mark. In this paper, - segments displa for Bangla compound character has been proposed. From the revie it appears that it is the first proposed displa in the orld for Bangla compound Character. Keords: Compound Character,-segment displa.. Introduction Bangla language is no one of the popular languages in the orld. bout million people use Bangla as their communicative medium. s a natural language, Bangla as neglected in research for man ears. But no scientists all over the orld are tring to computerie Bangla language. To do this computeriation, recognition of characters plas an important role in research. Man researches have been done for recogniing Bengali simple characters. In this paper an idea to recognie compound Bengali character is presented. space.(). Sabbir hmed and Serajum Monira developed a segment displa for the bengali and english digits here no segment interacts ith each other and its eas to design and the used onl single circuit to represent Bangla and English as ell as to different circuits for these to numeric.(). Tanin Rahman, Tanvir Khan, Sarder Saadat hmed, Chandan Kumar Karmakar proposed a -segemented displa, hich represents the unavoidable, distinct curves present in Bangla numerals, ithout using curved segments(). Segment Model Design We have discovered a grid structure consisting of segments as shon in fig. d f d d e c f f i i a a e c b b i. Literature Revie Fig : segment displa Md. bul Kalam ad,reana Sharmin and S. M. Kamruaman proposed uniform displa architecture to displa multiple language digits and mathematical epression ith higher and simplicit b using segment displas. Their proposed segment displa can be used to displa numbers of languages and mathematical epression.(). hmed Yousuf Saber,Mamun l Murshed Chodhur,Suman hmed and Chodhur Mofiur Rahman designed an - segment displa sstem to manipulate onl -segments hich saves considerable amount of memor and storage Manuscript received March, Manuscript revised March,

5 IJCSNS International Journal of Computer Science and Netork Securit, VOL. No., March Conclusion In our proposed Segment displa all the segments are of uniform sie. The proposed segmented displa is the unique segmented displa that proposes a single circuit ith straight segments of uniform sie. lthough e have used minimum number of segments, this displa still provides appearances of digit to etended level of accurac. So it is epected that this segment displa ma be used as an ideal circuit for displaing maimum number of Bengali compound characters.
