arxiv:3.745v5 [math.ap] 5 Sep 5 ON WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR SOLUTIONS OF THE WAVE EUATION YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO Abstract. In this paper we consider weighted L integrability for solutions of the wave euation. For this, we obtain some weighed L estimates for the solutions with weights in Morrey-Campanato classes. Our method is based on a combination of bilinear interpolation and localization argument which maes use of Littlewood-Paley theorem and a property of Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions. We also apply the estimates to the problem of well-posedness for wave euations with potentials.. Introduction Let us first consider the following Cauchy problem associated with the wave euation in R n+, n : t u+ u = F(x,t), u(x,) = f(x), (.) t u(x,) = g(x). Then it is well nown that the solution is given by u(x,t) = cos(t )f + sin(t ) g t sin((t s) ) F(s)ds (.) in view of the Fourier transform. The aim of this paper is to find a suitable relation between the Cauchy data f,g, the forcing term F and the weight w(x,t) which guarantee that the solution lies in weighted L spaces, L x,t(w). A natural way of approaching this problem may be to control weighted L integrability of the solution in terms of regularity of f,g,f. In fact our basic strategy is to obtain the following type of estimates: u L x,t (w) C s, s,,r (w) ( f Ḣs + g Ḣs + F L tḃ s r, ), (.3) where Ḃ s r, isthe usualhomogeneousbesovspace(cf. [3]), and C s, s,,r(w) is a suitable constant depending on the regularity indexes s, s,,r and the weight w. 2 YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO and the regularity of f,g,f. By considering the operator e it, the estimate (.3) will consist of the homogeneous estimate e it f L x,t (w) C s(w) f Ḣs and the inhomogeneous estimate t e i(t s) F(,s)ds C s,,r (w) F L L x,t (w) tḃ s+ r, Before stating our results, we need to introduce a function class. For α > and p n/α, a function f L p loc (Rn ) is said to be in the Morrey-Campanato class L α,p if f L α,p := sup α/n( f(y) p p dy <. cubes in R n In particular, L α,p = L p when p = n/α, and even L n/α, L α,p for p < n/α. Then we have the following result which can be regarded as the weighted L Strichartzestimatesforthewaveeuation. StrichartzestimatesonweightedL spaces have been studied for the Schrödinger euation ([5,,, ]). Theorem.. Let n. Then we have for (n + )/4 s < n/ and < p (n+)/(s+) e it f L (w(x,t)) C w / L f Ḣs, (.4) s+,p and for s > (n )/ and,r t e i(t s) F(s)ds with < p (n+)/α and L (w(x,t)) C w / L α,p F L tḃ s+ r,. (.5) α = ( s n r + n+4 )+. (.6) Remars. (i) From the definition it is clear that f(λ ) L α,p = λ α f L α,p. Using this one can see that α = s+ is the only possible index which allows (.4) to be invariant under the scaling (x,t) (λx,λt), λ >. (ii) In the special case where s + =, one can see that L r Ḃ s+ r, for < r, and (.6) is just the scaling condition for (.5) with L r instead of Ḃ s+ r,. (iii) From the classical Strichartz s estimate ([9]), one can see that e it f L r x,t C f Ḣs for (n+)/(n ) r < and s = n/ (n+)/r. Then, by this and Hölder s ineuality, it follows that for / s < n/, e it f L (w(x,t)) w L r r eit f L C w r L n+ f. (.7) s+ Ḣ s Hence our estimate (.4) can be seen as natural extensions to the Morrey-Campanato classes of (.7).
WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR THE WAVE EUATION 3 SomeweightedL x,t estimatesarenownforthe waveeuation. In particular, (.4) can be found in [5] for w(x,t) satisfying sup t w(x,t) L,p (R n ) with p > (n )/, n 3. In fact, it is easy to see that this condition implies w L,p (R n+ ) for the same p. For a specific weight w(x,t) = x (s+), < s < (n )/, (.4) is proved in [8] (see (3.6) there). Note that x (s+) L s+,p (R n+ ) for p < n/(s+). But, our theorem gives estimates for more general time-dependent weights w(x, t). Also, the following smoothing estimates (nown for Morawetz estimates) x b/ e itda f L t,x C D (b a)/ f (.8) have been proved by many authors for the wave euation (a = ) [4] and for the Schrödinger euation (a = ) [,, ]. For more general Morawetz estimates with angular smoothing, see [9,, 6]. These estimates can be compared with (.4) for the wave euation (a = ). Indeed, since w(x) is in L α,p (R n+ ) if w(x) L α,p (R n ) for p n/α, the following corollary is directly deduced from (.4) with s = (b )/. Then, (.8) with a = and (n+3)/ b < n is just a particular case of (.9) because x b L b,p (R n ). Corollary.. Let n > 3. Then we have w(x) / e it f L t,x C D (b )/ f (.9) if w L b,p (R n ) for (n+3)/ b < n and < p n/b. Compared with the index α = s+ in (.4), we can have the same index of α in (.5) if n+ s 4 n r + n+4 < n (see (.6)). Hence, setting s = s / n/r+(n+4)/ and using the fact that ( ) f Ḃ s+ r, C f Ḃ s r,, the following corollary is deduced from a simple combination of (.), (.4) and (.5). Corollary.3. Let n. If u is a solution of the Cauchy problem (.), then ) u L (w(x,t)) C w / ( f Ḣs L s+,p + g Ḣs + F L tḃ s r, if n+ 4 s < n, < p n+ n s+, s >, and,r, with s = s n r + n+4. Let us setch the organization of the paper. In Section, we obtain a property of the Morrey-Campanato class regarding the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function, which is to be used for the proof of the weighted L estimates in Theorem.. Then, using bilinear interpolation and a localization argument based on Littlewood-Paley theorem in weighted L spaces, we prove Theorem. in Section 3. Finally in Section 4, we apply the estimates to the well-posedness theory for wave euations with potentials. Throughout this paper, we will use the letter C to denote a constant which may be different at each occurrence. We also denote by f the Fourier transform of f and by f,g the usual inner product of f,g on L. Given two complex Banach spaces
4 YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO A and A, we denote by (A,A ) θ, the real interpolation spaces for < θ < and. In particular, (A,A ) θ, = A = A if A = A. See [3, ] for details.. Preliminary lemmas In this section we present some preliminary lemmas which will be used for the proof of Theorem.. A weight w : R n [, ] is a locally integrable function that is allowed to be zero or infinite only on a set of Lebesgue measure zero, and we denote by w A (R n ) to mean that w is in the Mucenhoupt A (R n ) class which is defined by sup cubes in R n ( )( w(x)dx ) w(x) dx < C A. Also, w is said to be in the class A if there is a constant C A such that for almost every x M(w)(x) C A w(x), where M(w) is the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function of w given by M(w)(x) = sup w(y)dy, where the sup is taen over all cubes in R n with center x. Then, A A with C A C A. (.) See, for example, [7] for more details. Also, the following lemma can be found in Chapter 5 of [8]. (See also Proposition in [5].) Lemma.. If M(w)(x) < for almost every x R n, then for < δ < with C A independent of w. (M(w)) δ A Next we obtain the following property of the Morrey-Campanato class regarding the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function. A similar property when α = can be also found in [4]. Lemma.. Let w L α,p be a weight on R n+, and let w (x,t) be the n-dimensional maximal function defined by ( w (x,t) = sup w(y,t) ρ ρ dy, ρ >, where denotes a cube in R n with center x. Then, if p > ρ and p > /α, we have ( sup α n+ ( w (x,t) p p dxdt Csup α n+ w(y,t) p p dydt. Namely, if p > ρ and p > /α, w L α,p C w L α,p. Furthermore, w (,t) A (R n ) in the x variable with a constant C A uniform in almost every t R.
WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR THE WAVE EUATION 5 Proof. Fix a cube in R n+ with center at (z,τ) and side length δ. Let us define the rectangles R,, such that (y,t) R if t τ < δ and y (z, + δ)\ (z, δ). Here, (z,r) denote a cube in R n with center z and side length r. Also, let R = 4. Now, setting w () = wχ R with the characteristic function χ R of the set R, we may write w(y,t) = w () (y,t)+φ(y,t) where φ(y,t) is supported on R n+ \ R. Then it is easy to see that w (x,t) w () (x,t)+φ (x,t) and ( w (x,t) p p dxdt ( w () (x,t) p dxdt p ( + φ (x,t) p dxdt Since (x,t), it is clear that φ (x,t) =. Also, applying the well-nown maximal theorem, M(f) C f, >, with = p/ρ, we see that if p > ρ ( α n+ ) w () ( (x,t) p p dxdt C α n+ w(y,t) p p dydt 4 C w L α,p. (.) Conseuently, we only need to consider the case where. Let. Since (x,t), it follows that ( w ( (x,t) = sup ( C ( δ) n ( C ( δ) n ρ w(y,t) ρ χ R (y,t)dy w(y,t) ρ dy (z, + δ)\ (z, δ) w(y,t) p dy (z, + δ)\ (z, δ) ρ p, where we used Hölder s ineuality for the last ineuality since p ρ. Thus, w () (x,t) p dxdt C ( δ) n C n τ t <δ R w(y,t) p dydt. w(y,t) p dxdydt (z, + δ)\ (z, δ) z x <δ p.
6 YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO Since we can clearly choose a cube in R n+ such that R and ( δ) n+, we now get ( α n+ ) w () ( (x,t) p p dxdt C α n+ n w(y,t) p p dydt R ( C α n+ w(y,t) p p dydt ( C α+ p α n+ w(y,t) p p dydt. Hence, if p > /α and p ρ, we conclude that ( α n+ ) w () (x,t) p p dxdt C w L α,p. By combining this and (.), if p > ρ and p > /α, we get w L α,p C w L α,p as desired. Finally, to show the last assertion in the lemma, note first that w (x,t) = (M(w(,t) ρ )/ρ. Since w L α,p and p ρ, it is not difficult to see that M(w(,t) ρ ) < for almost every x R n. Now, applying Lemma. with δ = /ρ, we conclude that w (,t) A with C A uniform in t R, which in turn implies that w (,t) A with C A uniform in t R (see (.)). 3. Proof of Theorem. Since w w and w L α,p C w L α,p for p > ρ > and p > /α (see Lemma.), it is enough to prove Theorem. replacing w with w. The motivation behind this replacement is that w (,t) A (R n ) in the x variable with a constant C A uniform in almost every t R (see Lemma.). This A condition will enable us to use a localization argument in weighted L spaces. Conseuently, we may assume that w satisfies the same A condition, in proving the theorem. 3.. Homogeneous estimates. First we prove the homogeneous estimate (.4). Let φ be a smooth function supported in (/,) such that = φ( t) =, t >. For Z, we define the multiplier operators P f by P f(ξ) = φ( ξ ) f(ξ). First we claim that if (n+)/4 s < n/ and < p (n+)/(s+) e it P f L (w(x,t)) C w / L f s+,p. (3.)
WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR THE WAVE EUATION 7 Then it follows from scaling that e it P f L (w(x,t)) C n e it P (f( )) L (w( x, t)) C n w( x, t) L s+,p f( ) C s w L s+,p f. Since w(,t) A (R n ) uniformly for almost every t R, by the Littlewood-Paley theorem on weighted L spaces (see Theorem in []), we see that e it f L (w(x,t)) = e it f L (w(,t)) dt ( C P e it f / = C e it P f L (w(x,t)). L (w(,t)) dt On the other hand, since P P j f = if j, it follows that e it P f L (w(x,t)) = e it ( P P j f ) L (w(x,t)) j C w L s+,p s P j f C w L s+,p f Ḣ s. j Conseuently, we get the desired estimate e it f L (w(x,t)) C w / L s+,p f Ḣs for (n+)/4 s < n/ and < p (n+)/(s+). Now it remains to show (3.). By duality (3.) is euivalent to e is P F(,s)ds C w / L F s+,p L (w ). L x Hence it suffices to show the following bilinear form estimate e i(t s) P F(,s)ds,G(x,t) C w L s+,p F L (w ) G L (w ). R To show this, we first write R e i(t s) P F(,s)ds = K F, where K(x,t) = e i(x ξ+t ξ ) φ( ξ ) dξ. R n Next, we decompose the ernel K in the following way K F,G (ψ j K) F,G, j
8 YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO where ψ j : R n+ [,] is a smooth function which is supported in B(, j ) \ B(, j ) for j and in B(,) for j =, such that j ψ j =. Then it suffices to show that (ψ j K) F,G C w L s+,p F L (w ) G L (w ). (3.) j For this, we assume for the moment that (ψ j K) F,G C j( n+3 (s+)p) w p L F s+,p L (w p ) G L (w p ), (3.3) (ψ j K) F,G C j(n+3 s+ p) w p/ L F s+,p L (w p ) G, (3.4) (ψ j K) F,G C j( n+3 s+ p) w p/ L F s+,p G L (w p ), (3.5) and use the following bilinear interpolation lemma (see [3], Section 3.3, Exercise 5(b)) as in [, ]. Lemma 3.. For i =,, let A i,b i,c i be Banach spaces and let T be a bilinear operator such that T : A B C, T : A B C, and T : A B C. Then one has for θ = θ +θ and /+/r Here < θ i < θ < and,r. T : (A,A ) θ, (B,B ) θ,r (C,C ) θ,. Indeed, let us first define the bilinear vector-valued operator T by Then (3.) is euivalent to T(F,G) = { (ψ j K) F,G } j. (3.6) T : L (w ) L (w ) l (C) (3.7) with the operator norm C w L s+,p. Here, for a R and p, l a p (C) denotes the weighted seuence space with the norm {( j {x j } j l a p = jap x j p p, if p, sup j ja x j, if p =. Note that the above three estimates (3.3), (3.4) and (3.5) become T(F,G) l β (C) C w p L s+,p F L (w p ) G L (w p ), T(F,G) l β (C) C w p/ L s+,p F L (w p ) G, (3.8) T(F,G) l β (C) C w p/ L s+,p F G L (w p ), (3.9) respectively, with β = ( n+3 (s+)p) and β = ( n+3 s+ p). Then, applying Lemma 3. with θ = θ = /p and = r =, we get for < p < T : (L (w p ),L /p, (L (w p ),L /p, (l β (C),l β (C)) /p, with the operator norm C w L s+,p. Now, we use the following real interpolation space identities (see Theorems 5.4. and 5.6. in [3]):
WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR THE WAVE EUATION 9 Lemma 3.. Let < θ <. Then one has and for,, and s s, and Then, for < p <, we have (L (w ),L (w )) θ, = L (w), w = w θ w θ, (l s,l s ) θ, = l s, s = ( θ)s +θs. (L (w p ),L /p, = L (w ), (l β (C),lβ (C)) /p, = l (C) if ( p )β + p β = (i.e., s = (n + )/4). Hence, we get (3.7) if s = (n + )/4 and < p n+ s+ (< ). When s > (n+)/4, note that γ := p (s+ n+3 ) >. Since j and β <, the estimates (3.8) and (3.9) are trivially satisfied for β replaced by β γ. Hence, by the same argument we only need to chec that ( p )β + p (β γ) =. But, this is an easy computation. Conseuently we get (3.7) if (n+)/4 s < n/ and < p n+ s+, and so the proof is completed. Finally, we have to show the estimates (3.3), (3.4) and (3.5). For j, let { λ } λ j Z n+ be a collection of cubes λ R n+ centered at λ with side length j. Then by disjointness of cubes, we see that (ψ j K) F,G λ,µ j Z n+ λ j Z n+ (ψ j K) (Fχ λ ),Gχ µ (ψ j K) (Fχ λ ),Gχ λ, where λ denotes the cube with side length j+ and the same center as λ. By Young s and Cauchy-Schwartz ineualities, it follows that (ψ j K) F,G λ j Z n+ (ψ j K) (Fχ λ ) Gχ λ λ j Z n+ ψ j K Fχ λ Gχ λ ψ j K ( λ j Z n+ Fχ λ Now we need to bound the terms ψ j K, Fχ λ, λ j Z n+ ( λ j Z n+ Gχ λ λ j Z n+ Gχ λ. ). (3.) For the first term we use the following well-nown lemma, Lemma 3.3, which is essentially due to Littman [3]. (See also [8], VIII, Section 5, B.) Indeed, by applying the lemma with ψ(ξ) = ξ, it follows that K(x,t) = e i(x ξ+t ξ ) φ( ξ ) n dξ C(+ (x,t) ), R n
YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO since the Hessian matrix Hψ has n non-zero eigenvalues for each ξ {ξ R n : ξ }. Thus we get n j ψ j K C. (3.) Lemma 3.3. Let Hψ be the Hessian matrix given by ( ψ ξ i ξ j ). Suppose that φ is a compactly supported smooth function on R n and ψ is a smooth function which satisfies ran Hψ on the support of φ. Then, for (x,t) R n+ e i(x ξ+tψ(ξ)) φ(ξ)dξ C(+ (x,t) ). while Next, we have the following bound Fχ λ = ( ) Fχ λ w p p w dxdt λ j Z n+ λ j Z n+ λ ( )( ) Fχ λ w p dxdt w p dxdt λ λ λ j Z n+ ( ) sup w p dxdt λ j Zn+ λ λ j Z n+ ( ) Fχ λ w p dxdt λ C j(n+ (s+)p) w p L s+,p F L (w p ) (3.) λ j Z n+ Fχ λ λ j Z n+ Fχ λ χ λ C j(n+) F. (3.3) Similarly for λ j Z n+ Gχ λ. Now, combining (3.), (3.), (3.) and (3.3), we get the desired estimates (3.3), (3.4) and (3.5). 3.. Inhomogeneous estimates. Now we prove the inhomogeneous estimate (.5). First we claim that for α > n+4 n/r / and < p (n+)/α t e i(t s) P F(,s)ds C w / L α,p F L (3.4) t Lr x L (w(x,t)) if r,. Then, by the Littlewood-Paley theorem on weighted L spaces as before, it follows that t e i(t s) F(,s)ds L (w(x,t)) t C e i(t s) P ( j P j F(,s) ) ds By using (3.4) and scaling, the right-hand side in the above is bounded by C w L α,p ) (α n 3+n r + P j F(,s) L t x, Lr j L (w(x,t)).
WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR THE WAVE EUATION which is in turn bounded by C w L α,p (α n 3+n r + ) P F(,s) L t x. Lr Since, by Minowsi s integral ineuality we see that (α n 3+n r + ) P F(,t) ( ) L (α n 3+n r + ) P t Lr x F(,t) L r x = F L tḃ s+ r, with s+ = (α n 3+ n r + ). Thus, we get the desired estimate t e i(t s) F(,s)ds C w / L α,p F L tḃ s+ r, L (w(x,t)) for α > n+4 n/r / and < p (n+)/α if,r and s+ = (α n 3+ n r + ). (3.5) Note that from (3.5) the condition α > n + 4 n/r / is euivalent to the condition s > (n )/ in Theorem., and so the proof is completed. Now it remains to show (3.4). We will show the following estimate t e i(t s) P F(,s)ds C w / L α,p F L t Lr x L (w(x,t)) L t (3.6) which implies (3.4). Indeed, to obtain (3.4) from (3.6), we first decompose the L t norm in the left-hand side of (3.4) into two parts, t and t <. Then the second part can be reduced to the first one by changing the variable t t, and so we only need to consider the first part. But, since [,t) = (,t) [, ), applying (3.6) with F replaced by χ [, ) (s)f, we can bound the first part as desired. To show (3.6), by duality it suffices to show that t e i(t s) P F(,s)ds,G C w / L α,p F L G t Lr x L (w ). Let us first write t e i(t s) P F(,s)ds = χ (, ) (t s)e i(t s) P F(,s)ds R = K F, where K(x,t) = χ (, ) (t)e i(x ξ+t ξ ) φ( ξ )dξ. R n Then, with the same notations as in the previous section, it is enough to show that (ψ j K) F,G / C w L α,p F L G t Lr x L (w ). (3.7) j For this, we assume for the moment that (ψ j K) F,G C j( n r + +) F L t Lr x G L (3.8)
YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO and (ψ j K) F,G C j( n r + + α p) w p/ L α,p F L t Lr x G L (w p ). (3.9) Then these estimates say that for β = ( n r + +) and β = ( n r + + α p) and T(F,G) l β (C) C F L t Lr x G L T(F,G) β l (C) C w p/ L F α,p L G t Lr x L (w p ), where T is given as in (3.6). Now, by the bilinear interpolation (see [3], Section 3.3, Exercise 5(a)) between these two estimates, it follows that for < p < T : (L t Lr x,l t Lr x /p, (L,L (w p )/p, (l β (C),lβ (C)/p, with the operator norm C w / Lα,p. Using Lemma 3., we get T(F,G) l β (C) C w / L α,p F L t Lr x G L (w ) with β = ( p )β + p β = ( n r + + α ). That is to say, (ψ j K) F,G C j( n r + + α ) w / L α,p F L t Lr x G L (w ). Thus, when α > n+4 n/r /, we get the desired estimate (3.7). Finally, we have to show (3.8) and (3.9). Recall from (3.) that (ψ j K) F,G ( ψj K First, using Lemma 3.3 as before, we have λ j Z n+ Fχ λ ( λ j Z n+ Gχ λ ) n j ψ j K C. (3.) Next, we may write λ = λ(x) λ(t), where λ(x) is a cube in R n with respect to x variable, and λ(t) is an interval in R with respect to t variable. Then, since,r, by Minowsi s integral ineuality it follows that ( λ j Z n+ Fχ λ ( λ j Z n+ ( λ(t) Fχ λ L r x λ(x) r dt ) ) ( Fχ λ L λ(x) t Lr r x λ(t) ) λ j Z n+ C j( n r + ) F L t Lr x..
WEIGHTED L ESTIMATES FOR THE WAVE EUATION 3 On the other hand, we have the following bound Fχ λ = ( ) Fχ λ w p p w dxdt λ j Z n+ λ j Z n+ λ ( )( ) Fχ λ w p dxdt w p dxdt λ λ λ j Z n+ ( ) sup w p dxdt λ j Zn+ λ λ j Z n+ ( ) Fχ λ w p dxdt λ C j(n+ αp) w p L α,p F L (w p ). (3.) Combining (3.3), (3.) and (3.), we get the desired estimates (3.8) and (3.9). 4. Further applications In this final section we consider the following Cauchy problem for wave euations with potentials: t u u+v(x,t)u =, u(x,) = f(x), (4.) t u(x,) = g(x), where (x,t) R n+, n =,3. The well-posedness for this problem in the space L x,t ( V ) was studied for n 3 in [5], when V = V + V with V L t L,p x, (n )/ < p n/, V L r tl x, r >, and V L t L,p small enough. Here our x main aim is to deal with the two-dimensional case n =. Our result is the following theorem. Theorem 4.. Let n =,3. If n = we assume that V L tl s,r x L s+,p x,t for 3/4 s <, < r /( s) and < p (n+)/(s+), with V L t L s,r and x V L s+,p small enough. Similarly, we assume for n = 3 the same conditions with x,t s = and L s,r x replaced by L x. Then, if f Ḣs and g Ḣs, there exists a uniue solution of (4.) in the space L x,t ( V ). Furthermore, u L x,t ( V ) C( f Ḣs + g Ḣs ). (4.) Proof. As a preliminary step, we recall from [6] that the fractional integral I α of convolution with x n+α, < α < n, satisfies the following ineuality I α f L (w(x)) C w / L α,r f L, (4.3) where α > and < r n/α. Indeed, this ineuality follows directly from [[6], (.)] with w = v and p =. Then, using this ineuality, we see that t e i(t s) α F(,s)ds C w / t L α,r x e i(t s) F(,s)ds L x (w(x,t)) L x C w / L α,r e is χ (,t) (s)f(,s)ds x L x
4 YOUNGWOO KOH AND IHYEOK SEO because the integral ernel of the multiplier operator α is given by x n+α, < α < n. Combining this estimate and the following dual estimate of (.4), e is F(,s)ds C w / L s F s+,p L x,t (w ), L x we get for α >, < r n/α, (n+)/4 s < n/, and < p (n+)/(s+), t e i(t s) F(,s)ds C w / L w / t Lα,r x L α+s F s+,p L x,t (w ). L x,t (w(x,t)) Now we consider the solution of (4.) which is given by u(x,t) = cos(t )f + sin(t ) g t (4.4) sin((t s) ) (Vu)(s)ds, (4.5) where f Ḣs and g Ḣs. Then by the homogeneous estimate (.4), we only need to show that t e i(t s) (Vu)(,s)ds L x,t ( V ) u L x,t ( V ) (4.6) in order to obtain the well-posedness using the standard fixed-point argument. But, when n =, one can use (4.4), with α = s and w = V, to conclude that t e i(t s) (Vu)(,s)ds C V / V / L Vu s+,p L x,t ( V ) L x,t (V) L t L s,r x u L x,t ( V ) if V L t L s,r and V x L s+,p are sufficiently small. Also, (4.) follows easily from combining (4.5), (.4) and (4.6). Now the proof is complete for n =. When n = 3, by repeating the above argument with α = using (4.3) replaced by the trivial ineuality f L (w(x)) C w / L f L, one can similarly obtain (4.6) under the conditions given in the theorem.
