3 Marine Geosciences Division Geospatial Sciences & Technology NRL Geospatial Hub (G-Hub) used as common information space for live, multi-sensor data at ONR s Operational Adaptation: Development Test 2 Warfighter Impact Successful deployment of NRL GHub over tactical mesh network for low bandwidth, high latency and intermittent networks Delivery of EPMA build updates environmental products in near real time (will be part of MIW mission module on the Littoral Combat Ship) Successful demonstration of data connectivity from NAVOCEANO Data Server (NGDS) to Environmental Post-Mission Analysis (EPMA) and interaction with Mine Warfare Environmental Decision Aid Library (MEDAL) Tactical Decision Aid.
4 Direct Numerical Simulation of Small-scale Sand Ripples Preliminary Results: Intermediate fluid solver coupled to DEM. Schematic (top) shows scale of simulation relative to larger scale wave processes. Illustration (bottom) shows turbulence production at the relevant length scales. Parallelization, testing, and validation are ongoing.
5 Littoral Environmental Reconnaissance Capabilities Demonstration Warfighter Impact Demonstrated concepts of operations and techniques for rapid environmental assessment (REA) in the littorals. Lessons learned influenced operational planning, equipment procurement and sensing strategies used by the Naval Oceanography commands performing today s operations. Mapped and surveyed an approximate 200-km 2 region using manned and unmanned airborne and seagoing sensing platforms. exercise tested new optical, meteorological and oceanographic sensor technologies, and trained military personnel in the use of environmental reconnaissance techniques in support of expeditionary warfare.
