Heavy equipments in geotechnical engineering projects. 5. Special construction techniques in geotechnical engineering project. 6. Contract, specification and construction supervision. 7. Dispute and resolution on geotechnical projects. 8. Project case studies on dam, land-reclamation, foundation, cannel, tunnel etc. 9. Self studies and presentations. 10. 2 Course Expectation 1. Student should knows the scopes and natures of Geotechnical Engineering. How to prepare himself to be a good geotechnical engineer. 2. Student can compare the differences of the local and international projects in term of project management, individual practices etc.. 3. Student should has the technical reading skill, key points extraction, summary of the reading materials as a report. 4. Student should learn how to make the good technical presentations. (both written and oral) 3 Course Expectation (cont ) 5. Student should know the principles of heavy equipments in geotechnical engineering projects. 6. Student should get the principles of special geotechnical projects given in the class and during the field trips. 7. Student should learn the type of contracts, the good specification writing and construction supervision attitudes. 8. Student should understand the roles of APEC Engineer, local society and international societies in Geotechnical Engineering. 11. Student should learn how to work independently and as a team to solve the problems. 12. 4 Term Reports and Presentations 1. First Presentation (20%) From selected one technical paper (20-30 pages) of your own interesting, read it through carefully, grasp the important points. Write the report on main points extracted from the paper. Approximately pages Make an oral presentation the contents in your report by Power Point frames Answer the questions from the class, make the relevant comments or discussion. 7 Term Reports and Presentations 2. Second Presentation (20%) From selected one thesis or technical report of your own interesting, read it through carefully, grasp the important points. Write the report on main points extracted from the paper. Not more than 40 pages Make an oral presentation the contents in your report by Power Point not more than 30 frames Answer the questions from the class, make the relevant comments or discussion. 8 4

Third Presentation (20%) From selected several technical reports or theses of your own interesting one topic, read all through carefully, organize the material into easily understand sequences. Write the report from those papers.
