Box , Nairobi- Kenya. 20 Jan, Dear Sir/Madam, Ref: Application for Hydrogeologist Position First I wish to express my appreciation for this opportunity to apply for the subject vacancy advertised in the electronic media as of Friday, the 19 th day of January I am a Kenyan male with background and skills in engineering geology, environmental science, hydrogeology and geophysics. I studied at the University of Leeds School of Earth and Environment for my postgraduate degree in Exploration Geophysics. My final project work was based on assessing the impact of a planned nuclear waste underground repository on the environment, particularly, on fluid flow heterogeneity with relation to water aquifer hydrogeology and stability in Sellafield-Cumbria. My bachelors degree in geology at the University of Nairobi was completed with a project investigating the environmental impact from perennial flooding in western Kenya and its effect on livelihoods. I also hold a postgraduate diploma in project management from The Kenya Institute of Management to help me effectively plan and execute projects. My 10years work experience in exploration environment ranges from gold, groundwater, geothermal and geotechnical. While working for IGE, I successfully applied my research skills and recommended exploration mining as a method to achieve desired results and minimize environmental degradation in Lolgorien- TransMara. At GDC, I was responsible for site survey and supervision of borehole and shot-hole drilling for the Baringo/East Pokot environmental seismic study project. I also contributed to the EIA report for Paka, Silali, Menengai and Baringo Geothermal prospects, among other tasks. At Kisima Drilling Company, I was charged with geophysical survey, borehole drilling supervision and reporting. Ultimately, I have done geotechnical surveys for building sites and dam construction. I believe armed with such knowledge enables me to fit in your organization. I am flexible and ready to learn new skills and I am keen to work for a county with a great reputation and high profile such as KAJIADO COUNTY.
