5 PROSPECTIVITY Pliocene Play Concept: This play was successfully explored by the nearby fields as a gas bearing sand in slope channel complex (Tennin Development lease) to the north of this block. Reservoir The reservoir rocks are represented by turbidity channel sand with high porosity and permeability. Source Basal Pliocene shale provides excellent source rock for the biogenic gas. Sealing: The thick sand interbedded shale rocks act as a good sealing capacity for this play. Trapping: Stratigraphic traps provide the main trapping style. Charge: Charging carried out through the interbedded and intraformational shales which act as a good source rocks for the biogenic gas. T 1

6 Messinian Play Concept: This play is represented by Abu Madi channel which was successfully drilled and explored as a gas and condensate bearing sand in the Baltim gas fields offset to the block under the evaluation. Reservoir: Abu Madi channel sand is provide an excellent reservoir rocks in the nearby gas discovery. Source: The proposed source rocks are Early Tertiary shales similar to that source provide the thermogenic gas in the offset block. Sealing: Thick and interformational shale bodies provide a good seal. Trapping: The traps are mainly structural traps. 7 Tortonian Serravallian Play Concept: This play is well defined and explored in Wakar discovery and El Temsah gas fields. Reservoir: The reservoir of Tortonian and Serravallian sands are evaluated as a good reservoir in El Temsah gas fields. TOP KAFR EL SHEIKH Source: Oligocene and Early Miocene deposits are considered the main sources for the hydrocarbon generation in the evaluated block. Sealing: Serravallian and Tortonian shales are very efficient seals. Trapping: The trapping for the Serravallian and Tortonian section is ensured by the structural relief of the anticlines involving the sand bodies. El Temsah gas field could be considered as a good example for this mechanism. Charge: It is highly anticipated that the reservoirs in the block are charges from the same basins of the closed gas discovery. 10 PROSPECTIVITY Plio Pleistocene Play Concept: The Eastern Mediterranean Plio Pleistocene play is controlled by the WNW ESE Syn depositional growth faulting that controls the deltaic sediments distributions of shelf and slope environments and the trapping of the reservoir rather than the generated biogenic gas. The Plio Pleistocene play is mainly gas accumulation in stratigraphic and structural traps generally associated with clear Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator ( DHI ) in the seismic reflecting section. This play was already drilled and proved the presence of gas accumulations in Kafr El Sheikh Fm. as in Fahd and Hadeer drilled in the evaluated area. Reservoir: The reservoir sands of this play deposited during the activities of the Plio Pleistocene deep marine system as channel complex and over bank deposits. Source: The Plio Pleistocene sediments provide an excellent source rocks for biogenic gas. The Biogenic gas occurrences are mainly located in the offshore Eastern Mediterranean in the shallow Plio Pleistocene basin. They are composed mainly of Methane, with very low content of heavier components. Sealing: The massive shale of deep marine deposits provide the main seal for both top and lateral sealing for the reservoirs of the Plio Pleistocene sand levels as proven by the results of wells drilled in the (Fahd & Hadeer) area. 11 Trapping: The combined Channel fill stratigraphic features associated with fault induced roll over structures created the main entrapment mechanism and configurations within the Plio Pleistocene growth faulting belts. The biogenic gas accumulations require early trap development, due to its generation took place shortly after deposition. Charge: Biogenic gas occurrences are mainly located in the offshore Eastern Mediterranean in the shallow Plio Pleistocene basin in addition to the Middle Upper Miocene succession. The charging is mainly inferred across faults with possible contributions through permeable lithology. The high sedimentation rate turns in considerable thickness of target reservoir sands and source shale of deep marine facies. Thick regional cap rock secured the sealing efficiency and provided the generation potential of the dry gas. All these factors are composing the main play elements within the Plio Pleistocene sub basin. W PLEISTOCENE FAHD 1 T.D. 12 Miocene Play Concept: The Miocene play type has been extensively and successfully explored and exploited in Wakar, Port Fouad and Temsah Fields. The exploration of the Tortonian Serravallian play is still considered at an early stage in the offshore Eastern Mediterranean, even if several wells are drilled down to this target in respect to basin size. Reservoir: The Miocene reservoirs represented by the Tortonian Serravallian sands are related to slope fan channel turbidities as identified in the Wakar, Port Fouad Marine and Temsah fields. Source: The main thermogenic source rocks in the offshore Eastern Mediterranean of Tertiary reservoir targets are belonging to the Oligocene and Early Miocene mega sequence (Tineh and Qantara formations) of Tertiary age low hydrocarbon index (HI) values resulted from the overall Tertiary sequences encountered in the drilled wells of the nearest Wakar and Port Fouad Fields as areas are characterized by type III kerogen mainly gas and condensate prone. Sealing: The top seal efficiencies of the Tortonian shaly sequence is proven by the hydrocarbon accumulations in Wakar and Port Fouad Marine Fields and from the data coming from RFT results from the wells that confirm a different hydraulic regime. Lateral sealing is essentially intra formational units with shaly lithology that are commonly present in the analyzed sequences. Trapping: The trapping for the Miocene section is ensured by the structural relief of the anticlines involving the sand bodies. Temsah, Wakar, and Port Fouad Marine fields could be considered as good examples for this mechanism. Charge: Thermogenic gas and condensate in the offshore Eastern Mediterranean for Tertiary reservoir targets are belonging to the Oligocene and Early Miocene source rocks. Studies carried out over the Miocene producing fields indicates that a charging mechanism through faults is considered most likely. TORTONIAN/SERRAVALLIAN Seismic Anomaly

13 Oligocene Play Concept: Oligocene play represents an important play of oil and gas discoveries because it is successfully explored in the vicinity of the area by Tineh 1 well to the south of this block which proved to be a commercial oil discovery (The Oligocene sand tested 2682 Bbl/d, 30 API, and 1487 MSCF/D), and recently by Port Fouad Marine deep 1 well to the south of this block where the electric logs and MDT samples proven the presence of gas and condensates in the Oligocene sands. Reservoir: The presence of good reservoirs in the Oligocene sequence inferred through the seismic anomalies analysis and has been confirmed by the results of the Port Fouad Marine Deep 1 well. These are interpreted as laterally confined channel lobe complexes trending NE SW. Source : The source rock are represented by Lower Oligocene shale of Dabaa Fm. and by shale embedding in the reservoir channel system. Seal: The cap rock is represented by the deep water shale interbedded with the target reservoirs. The sealing efficiency has been proved by Port Fouad Marine Deep 1well. Trapping: The reservoir channel system act as a bearing and draining hydrocarbon diffusion from the source rocks to the channels above it. It is subsequently trapped up dip and through the faults. Charge: Charging occurs directly from the source to the reservoirs. 16 PROSPECTIVITY Plio Pleistocene Play Concept: This play is represented by large turbidity channel sands was already tested by Tennin 1 well as gas bearing sands where the Tennin development lease was located in the western part of this block. The Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator (DHI) from the seismic in the Plio Pleistocene sequences is a good indicator for the presence of gas accumulations. SW NE Arbitrary Line Showing Plio Pleistocene Gas Discovery In the nearby field Reservoir: The reservoir is comprised of sand body deposited in the Plio Pleistocene age. The reservoir properties derived from the nearby fields and discovered wells that produce from the Plio Pleistocene which show high porosity and permeability (low risk). Source: The source rocks of the biogenic gas are the shale sediments deposited during Plio Pleistocene time. The presence of biogenic gas is well established from gas samples obtained from existing wells discovered in the adjacent development leases. Sealing: Thick shaly sequence forms both vertical and lateral seals for the reservoir. Trapping: The trap in the area is formed by a mixed trap between four way dip structure closures and stratigraphic. The presence of Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator (DHI) on the seismic section in the main target indicates the effectiveness of this trap. Charge: The petroleum system is regionally proven as gas prone in the Plio Pleistocene sequence.

17 Serravallian / Tortonian Play Concept: The exploration of Serravallian / Tortonian is still considered at an early stage in the block, where the two wells (Gebel El Bahar 1, 1A) drilled by Mobile Company early eighties in the block not reaching this play due to drilling problems and bottomed in the Pliocene sequence. This play is successfully explored in Flower 1 well drilled by in this block, where the electric logs and MDT related to gas bearing sand in 3 m within Wakar Fm. (Tortonian age) and seismic lines indicate that the extension of Wakar sand away from the well location, which means the presence of gas with commercial quantity. In addition, this play successfully explored in the nearby gas fields and discoveries as Wakar, and Akhen. Reservoir: The expected Serravallian sand layers are equivalent to these discovered as gas bearing in El Temsah and Akhen areas. Also the Wakar sand of Tortonian age is expected to be similar to Wakar / Port Fouad Marine 1 well gas discovery. Source: A regional geological study carried out in the area indicates that the Oligocene and Early Miocene sediments are the main sources for the hydrocarbon generation. The expected hydrocarbon type is wet gas in this target. SW Flower 1 T.D. : 5100 m Miocene Reservoir Section: IL1940 NE Evaporitic Complex Tortonian Wakar Sand Sand 1 Temsah Equiv. Sand Akhen Equiv. Sand Sealing: Good sealing capacity is expected for the different targets represented by the thick shaly section deposited above the sandstone beds. Trapping: Structural with large and gentle closure, possible stratigraphic trap might allow the hydrocarbon to be present also below the structural traps since the reservoir distribution is clearly present on the plane. Charge: It is expected that the area is charged from the same basins of the closed fields Temsah and Akhen located southward of the block.

18 Oligocene Play Concept : The Oligocene play already drilled and proved the presence of gas bearing sand in Port Fouad Marine Deep 1 well and commercial oil bearing sand in Tineh 1 well, where the well tested 2682 Bbl/d, 30 API and 1487 MSFL/D. Although this play was success as gas and oil bearing sand but still considered at an early stage of the exploration in the Mediterranean Sea, so intensive exploration activity should be done to drill down to this target looking for the huge discovery. Reservoir: The presence of good reservoir in the Oligocene sediments was proven by the results obtained from the wells penetrated this target. Source : Lower Oligocene shales are considered the main source rocks for this play and generate gas and condensates. 21 PROSPECTIVITY Plio Pleistocene Play Concept: The Plio Pleistocene gas play is well established over the entire offshore Nile Delta region and significant gas discoveries have been found in a variety of structural and depositional settings. The play was proven by recent discovery of Sienna Up 2 and Silva 1 wells adjacent to the area of study. The Plio Pleistocene succession is characterized by thick clastic wedge deposited beneath the present day Nile Delta cone. The combination of basin subsidence and high sedimentation rates have allowed several thousand meters of deposits to accumulate. Reservoir: The reservoir of the area is likely to be slope channel deposits. The petrophysical properties of this kind of Pliocene reservoirs are very good. Source: The expected hydrocarbon type is a biogenic dry gas that has been generated in place. There are occurrences where some thermogenic gas and condensates have been charged the Pliocene reservoirs, but this area appear to be associated with deep seated faults that have acted as vertical conduits for migration from underlying Oligocene source rocks. Sealing: Sealing rocks are inter formational units with shaly lithology. The effectiveness of top seal is demonstrated by the presence of nearby Plio Pleistocene gas fields. 23 Messinian Play Concept: The tectono stratigraphic events of this Missinian Crisis represent a gas and condensate accumulations. This play well established in the offshore Nile Delta region and significant gas and condensate discoveries have been found in mixed traps along Abu Madi incised canyons related to the Messinian Crisis and drawdown the canyon system has a clear NW trend and is filled by proven fluvio marine sediments. This play is considered proven within West Baltim Concession, West Delta Deep Marine Concession (Silva 1), and North East Mediterranean Deep water Concession. It is still very promising in the out broad part of the system where the paleovally is wide variety of stratigraphic and structural traps are present. Reservoir: The reservoirs are likely to be fluvial or tidal sand bars deposited from the Messinian Abu Madi formation. Source: The expected hydrocarbon type is thermogenic wet gas generated from the underlying Oligocene Miocene source rocks. Sealing: The seal efficiency is demonstrated by the presence of nearby Messinian gas field. Trapping: Combination structural and stratigraphic traps are predominated in the area. Charge: Deep seated normal faults are considered the primary charging mechanism for wet gas.

24 Oligocene Play Concept : The exploration activity should be focused in the deeper targets where the Oligocene play is still unexplored, although the Oligocene channel systems are very promising as hydrocarbon potential in the Mediterranean province where it is successes as oil and gas bearing sands. Habbar 1 is the nearest well to the area of study discovered only residual gas in the Oligocene sand which means that this play should be taken in the consideration in the area of study especially this play was discovered oil in Tineh 1 well and gas in PFM Deep 1. 37 Structural Setting The unstable shelf area of the Western Desert extends northward towards the coastal plain area. The characteristics of this unstable shelf are block faulting with, in places, high basement relief; folding is partly compressional and partly extensional. North of this unstable shelf is a hinge zone. The hinge zone runs roughly parallel to the coast and is characterized by rapid thickening of Tertiary sediments. The junction of the unstable shelf and the hinge zone has been considerably affected by erosion and down channeling of Tertiary age. A deep offshore miogeosynclinal area lies north of the hinge zone. On the eastern portion of the area is the Nile Delta cone characterized by thick Pliocene and Miocene sediments. Severe channeling and down cutting in the Oligocene and Paleocene sections is common. The unstable shelf area is characterized by a series of northwest southeast trending normal faults with a corresponding series of northeast southwest trending folds. These folds were generated as the results of right lateral shearing in an east west direction during the late Cretaceous. This compressional folding has produced a horst and graben block faulting, and often rotation within the blocks. Dip across these tilted blocks varies from low relief drape to steep basin of lab fill. The age of the majority of the faulting appears to be Cenomanian and Turonian; Only minor faulting has affected the Tertiary sediments. On the western margin of the area several compressional features can be seen on the positive flower type. Strike slip movement is probably the contributing cause of these structures. In the east, the Nile Delta cone is the dominant feature. Composed of deltaic and Prograding shelf facies. An Oligocene submarine fan is probably the earliest evidence of the delta cone. 38 This block lies in the extreme western part of the Mediterranean Sea and extended from the coastal line to about 3000 m water depth northwards, so the southern part of the block represent the stratigraphic sequence similar to the northern part of the Western Desert and this proved by drilling Sidi Barrani 1 well nearest to the area. Also we expected that the northern part represent the stratigraphic sequence equivalent to the stratigraphic sequence of the Mediterranean Sea, so the block involved the play similar to that discovered in the Mediterranean Sea. Pliocene Play Concept: This play is well defined and explored in the Mediterranean Sea and mainly represented by biogenic gas. Source: Shale deposits act as the main source rock of the biogenic gas. Reservoir: Reservoir sandstones occur at a numerous intervals and interbedded with marine shales. Miocene Play Concept : This play is successfully discovered in the Mediterranean Sea by Laghian, Serravallian and Messinian sandstones as gas and condensates reservoirs. Source: Oligocene and Lower Miocene deposits. Reservoir The reservoir is represented by shallow marine sand with high porosity and permeability. Seal: Thick body of shale act as a good seal rocks.
