5 DET CRC Background DET CRC will develop more cost-effective, safer and more environmentally-friendly methods for deep mineral exploration incorporated entity with independent board $55M cash & $64M in-kind support over 8 years ( ) from Australian government and participants participants include miners, research providers and service companies DET CRC head office is co-located with Boart Longyear s new Asia Pacific head office in Adelaide 12 projects scoped by industry have commenced and are contracting over 100 researchers in 9 different organisations unique model of commercialisation of IP through the service sector participants: $450k pa (~31x leverage) affiliates: $10k pa with colleges for junior explorers, service providers and geological surveys DET CRC will deliver revolutionary new technology such as coiled tubing drilling systems with logging-while-drilling capability. Drilling and logging results will be fed real-time to remote geological modelling capability in order to plan immediate (within 24 hours) follow-up drilling.

6 Coiled Tubing Drilling (CTD) for Mineral Exploration flagship project to deliver CTD for minex project receiving ~$2.3M cash and ~$4.1M in-kind over CTD achieves 2x ~1,000m Alberta gas wells per day with 2-3 hours move in and rig up time and penetration rates up to100m/hr CTD offers improved cost, safety, environment and hole stability in minex key challenges for CTD in minex include: low WOB hard rock drilling & coil durability initial target: greenfields rig to 500m, weight less than 10 tonnes and $50/m small CT rig has been ordered from Axon and will be key experimental platform CTD-related percussion and rotary drilling test facilities, material testing lab and cuttings flow loop commissioned

7 World s First Successful Drilling with Carbon Fibre Drill Rod DET CRC undertook the world s first minex drilling with a composite (carbon fibre) rod composite rods are less than half the weight of conventional rods and with greater strength composite rods offer better OH&S, easier carriage to remote locations, smaller rigs (less hoisting capacity) and lower consumables sensors can be embedded in composite rods for real-time data from exploration holes Video press release available on YouTube:

8 Downhole and Lab-At-Rig Sensing improved productivity and new drilling technologies require in situ, near real-time analysis of exploration holes DET CRC has built and successfully tested a prompt gamma neutron geochemical wireline logging tool for HQ holes DET CRC s new autonomous shuttle has successfully logged natural gamma radiation in a borehole: pumped down inside drill rods and logs as rods are pulled DET CRC has successfully embedded sensors in carbon fibre drilling rods in addition to downhole techniques, DET CRC is investing $1M cash into lab-at-rig techniques encouraged by recent early results at the Brukunga Drilling Research and Training Facility Autonomous shuttle Wireline Geochemical Logging Tool

Logging-whiledrilling will remove or greatly reduce need for core and lengthy core analysis. Combined with real-time geological modelling, these will permit follow-up drilling without rig de-mob and re-mob.
