Present activities : As owner of the "Consulenze geologiche Rinaldo Volpers" the activities were started January 1989, the list below gives some informations on the geological activities undertaken by this office.
5 List of references : 1) Hydrology - Hydrogeology : Groundwater protection areas for different municipalities as : Calonico, Giornico, Faido, Airolo, Osco, Ghirone, Prato Leventina, mainly communities and towns in the Italian part of Switzerland (Ticino), Micro Hydroelectric Plant for local communities, Water pollution (underground Reservoirs), Waste sites investigations. 2) Geology : Drilling supervision for several soil and rock investigations for road and rail building, foundations, tunnelling, etc., Geological mapping, assistance for georadar, seismic, geoelectric and other geophysical investigations. 3) Geological Risks Analysis : Geological investigations for landslides, rock slide and fall, slope mouvements, slump and earth flow, permafrost, etc., Geomorpholgical analysis, photogeology. 4) Geotechnics : Geology for road, rail, bridge und tunnel building, Renewal works of tunnels of the 100 years old Swiss railways, between Airolo and Biasca, slope stability along railway track in Ticino (core drilling and rock anchors). AlpTransit Project : geological activities related to the planning/building of the New Railways Tunnels crossing the Swiss Alps as well as in charge of the exploration tunnel Piora Synform. My office was in charge of the geology/geotechnics of the section Faido - Sedrun, over a length of 18 Kms (total length of the base tunnel is 56 Kms), just accomplished (15 th October 2010). Underground car park project in Ascona. Activities and interpretation of seismic data related with the planning of the Torino Lione Tunnel and Brennero Base Tunnel. Other Activities : 1) Consortium : my office is associated with two groups/consortiums of engineers for water resources investigations and for geological risks analysis, specially related with landslides and seismic data acquisition. 2) Teaching : geology teacher for HTL/High School students in Lugano, and also unemployed young engineers on AlpTransit projects.
