Due to the great development in Sudan in the fields of tourism and communications, there is limited use of Geographic s information systems in the field of tourism and antiquities to contribute to marketing, analysis, and support to decision-makers. The study concerned the problems related to the geographical and statistical analysis of hotels in Khartoum state and its visitors. The study aimed to develop a website for the study area, Khartoum State contains a geographical model that contains geographical databases of hotels in Khartoum state in Geographic Information Systems map, an analytical model for the study of hotel visitors and a statistical analysis to study these categories in order to help make decisions. Keywords: Geographic information System, Khartoum State, Support Decision Making, statistical analysis. 96
I. 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Overview In the recent times, we have noticed how the Geographic information System (GIS) technology has shown immense growth in many areas such as agriculture, military, planning, economic etc. It has made its way into every aspect of our lives. Geographic information System offers a wide variety of functionalities. However, public demand and the availability of Geographic information System developer tools drove rapid expansion into other categories, such as Tourism, E-government, Business, and Decisions Making. GIS has become an integral part of daily life for many individuals and businesses, as well as for the government, military and Consultant Companies.[1] It has been estimated that 80% of the informational needs of local government policy makers and others are 97 related to geographic location. [1][5] 80 % 20 % others Giograp hics Figure 1. Informational Needs 1.2 Problem Statement With the great development witnessed by Sudan in many fields such as technology and tourism and antiquities, we found it necessary to introduce geographic information systems in the field of tourism to contribute in the field and build technical models aimed at development and achieve continuous growth, marketing, and support decision-making better. There are no sites in Sudan, an organization that collects presents and analyzes the geographical and spatial and statistical data of these hotels.
1.2.1Spatial decision support system and visitors Government agencies like the police of tourism security found hard to decision making because those used traditional tools and techniques. In this research we find it most important to introduce GIS to find optimal alternative solutions to making decision support easy and depend on real information. Build spatial analysis model for hotels. Statistical analysis for visitor s data. Build a base map for hotels in Khartoum state. 1.3 THESIS JUSTIFIABLE 1) The weakness of the online tourism content of the state of Khartoum. 2) Lack of a geographical model for the management of hotels for Khartoum State. 3) Lack of GIS websites to a marketing for hotels to a Khartoum state. 4) Difficulty making decisions based on correct information. 1.4 THESIS Objectives The project objectives can be summarized into: 1. Build of a geographical database for hotels in Khartoum state. 2. Make a Geographical analysis of hotels in Khartoum State. 3. Build Statistical Analysis model of visitors of hotels in Khartoum State. 4. Supporting decisionmaking by the government policy makers. 5. Enrich the digital and geographical content of the tourism in the state of Khartoum. 98
II. 2. MATERIALS AND METHOD S To satisfy the abovementioned objectives, the project tends to use descriptive analytical and geographical methods for hotels in Khartoum state by that information of hotels, firstly it begins by collection spatial, descriptive information about the hotels and secondly building GIS web application, finally analysis the final product, so as to examine its strengths and weak points for better decision making support. In the other hand, a semiexperimental method is used in this project. gathers the interest information Selection Methods and Tools Analysis A. 2.1 Data Metadata and spatial data were collected in different ways to achieve research objectives. Hotel data contains spatial and descriptive information about hotels in Khartoum State. Visitor data includes visitors to these hotels by nationalities and months with rates of change for the years Data collection These data are collected for the purposes of this research, in depth interviews were from reliable and different sources from these sources: Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Khartoum State Tourism Insurance Police Khartoum State Other Tools used GPS devices. Google Earth. Results Figure2. Research Stages 99
2.3 Procedures The procedures were executed by Interviews Individual and Focus groups, for getting information that serves the project and research and finally, we got information as documents. Other data collected thought internet. 2.4 Geographical Model Geographic Information Systems is a computer-based tool that analyzes stores, manipulates and visualizes geographic information on a map. [4] We have built a geographic database using the ArcCatalog program to accommodate and connect digital maps and data related to them. After that creating GIS maps and joining spatial and descriptive information using ArcMap. Then publishing using ArcGIS server using ArcGIS API for JavaScript Visitors Data: 100 By analysis a visitor s data building a visitors statistical model to help in decision make. 2.5 GIS applications GIS applications in GIS Web Application Potentials Analysis to Support Decision Making can be viewed from the following: [6] [7] the first Phase (inventory) gathers the interest information (Rhind 1990), [8] the second phase (analysis) Scrutinizes the information gathered and [9] the third phase (management) involves transferring data to A decision support system. Table 1 shows the capabilities of the GIS on GIS Web Application Potentials Analysis to Support Decision Making application. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION In this research, work has been done first to study the problems facing Decisions makers and hotels in Khartoum State and a number of them have been appointed: First: Absence of spatial and geographical analysis of hotels in Khartoum State Second: Absence of work on the analysis and study of tourists and the lack of clear statistics for visitors to those hotels to support the regulations taken Finally: Lack of websites and web content to market hotels and provide a good image and attractive to tourists Information and data that effectively contribute to solving these problems have been collected in several ways. Therefore, it was necessary to introduce geographic information systems with web technologies to implement the optimal solutions that were presented in the method and because they are due to several factors including: 1. Complete tasks. 2. Speed in application and development. 3. They can act as decision-making systems.
4. Ease of use for ordinary users. Here, work has been started to implement these solutions, which were aimed at: 1. Build a map containing the locations and coordinates of those hotels in Khartoum state and places information. 2. Spatial analysis for hotels. 3. Build web application that displays and markets these hotels and facilitates access to them. Build on statistical analysis models of the visitors to these hotels and expenditure and income from and to local tourism with the overview of graphs to support decisionmaking. 102 Figure5: Design Map Figure3. Visitor s data statistical analysis sample [3] Figure4: System Architecture Source: /different-architectures-andhardware.html Conclusion 4.1 Results The problems and challenges faced by government and hotels in relation to decisionmaking, especially related to spatial and descriptive information, as well as the problems faced by government agencies regarding decision-making related to information for visitors to these hotels, study and analysis of visitors, To
study and implement the proposed solutions to those problems and many solutions were reached through that application and where that site is an analytical model, marketing, consulting support for decision-making related to that area. The process of build system went through several stages starting from the analysis and study of the specifications. Collected the information that serves the construct of the projects from several sources and through Internet and others, then determine the system requirements and specifications and choose the Suitable tools and software, then development the web application. 4.2 Challenges 1. Lack of information s about hotels visitors. 2. The cost of tools that we used in development the GIS web application. 3. Lack of geographical contents of the state of Khartoum in the Internet. 4.3 limitations 1. The statistical analysis charts it s not dynamic. 2. Simple information about hotels on the website. 4.4 Recommendations 1. The need to produce a panorama views for hotels to better marketing in the future to. 2. Use data mining tools and techniques to help to make the decision. 3. Development of the website to include apartment hotels, accommodation, and tourist hostels. 4. The need to interest by visitors and tourists for hotels and study the visitors' and care with the Customer experiences. 5. Give more interest in tourist areas in Khartoum State. 103
