All our stainless steel products are made of V2A steel and in many cases are also available in V4A steel.

2 High quality Schlüter stainless steel profiles Stainless steel is enjoying increasing popularity and necessity in architectural projects. In response to this rising demand, Schlüter-Systems now offers a broad assortment of profiles made of this material. All our stainless steel products are made of V2A steel and in many cases are also available in V4A steel. Stainless steel V4A, with its special resistance to chemicals, was developed for applications with an increased risk of exposure to chemicals, such as swimming pools or industrial facilities. Schlüter-Systems is pleased to present an extended range of V4A products. Profiles with special radius perforation are labelled with a R symbol. In addition to the traditional finishing profiles Schlüter -SCHIENE and Schlüter - RONDEC, Schlüter-Systems now also offers edge protection profiles (Schlüter -ECK), stair nosing profiles (Schlüter -TREP-E), movement joint profiles (Schlüter -DILEX- EKSN, Schlüter -DILEX-EKSB and Schlüter -DILEX-EKSBT), as well as cove shaped profiles (Schlüter -DILEX-EHK and Schlüter -DILEX-HKS) in stainless steel V4A. This material with enhanced corrosion resistance is especially suitable for use in the applications listed above. With this addition to the product range, Schlüter-Systems is able to offer lasting protection of tile coverings in applications with heavy exposure to chemicals. What is stainless steel? Stainless steel is the collective term for a group of more than 160 rust resistant steels, all of which have a different composition.

Even though this layer is very thin, it is capable of consistently renewing itself after mechanical damage, which means that this steel will not rust during normal use.

3 What is stainless steel? Stainless steel is the collective term for a group of more than 160 rust resistant steels, all of which have a different composition. The designation is based on the formation of a chromium oxide layer at the surface of the stainless steel in a thickness of thousandths of millimetres. Even though this layer is very thin, it is capable of consistently renewing itself after mechanical damage, which means that this steel will not rust during normal use. This presumes that the protective layer will not be damaged permanently (e.g. by external corrosion or certain chemicals such as hydrochloric acid). Such damage can occur in areas with chemical stresses (such as outdoor areas near the sea, or with high industrial air pollution levels), in the food industry, or in swimming pools. 4 Maintenance recommendations for stainless steel products Stainless steel surfaces exposed to the environment or aggressive substances should be cleaned periodically using a mild household cleaner. Regular cleaning maintains the neat appearance of stainless steel and reduces the risk of corrosion. All cleaning agents must be free of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid. Avoid contact with other metals, such as regular steel, to prevent corrosion. This also includes installation tools such as trowels or steel wool, e.g. for the removal of mortar residue. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents on the sensitive surfaces. The stainless steel cleaning polish Schlüter -CLEAN-CP may be used if necessary. 4
