Theme Chemistry of Water mini-grants & awards Goal 1: Engage key researchers, industry decision makers, and consumers to incorporate sustainability into their practice and use of chemistry. Goal 3: Engage networks of chemists and citizens to advance sustainability education and communication. Goal 2: Equip ACS members and advocates to be influential voices about policies in sustainable chemistry via development of appropriate tools for the relevant audiences. 6 Supply Chain Workshop Workshop: Charting the Course to Sustainable Chemistry in the Supply Chain When/where: June 20, 2018 at GC&E Conference (Portland, Oregon) Goal: to develop a plan (and ultimately a publication) to improve incorporation of sustainable chemistry in the supply chain for formulated products (personal care & household products). 3 sessions: (1) Lessons Learned; (2) Gaps, Challenges, and Needs; (3) Facilitated Discussion and Roadmapping Sessions 1 & 2 each consist of Panel Discussion & Breakout Discussion Summary of discussion topics: most critical success factors using (green and sustainable) chemistry to meet a customer s needs facilitating collaboration & communication up and down the supply chain greatest technical gaps/challenges/needs for supply chain integration American Chemical Society 6

8 Roadmapping Roadmap destination is the widespread use of sustainable chemistry throughout the formulated personal care and household products supply chain. What must happen (or must be achieved) to reach that destination? Can we place those must happens in a logical sequence? (What do we tackle 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd )? Does one goal have to be achieved to enable the next? An action plan will be developed from the top ideas (what are the key milestones, champions to lead, accountability plan, who needs to be involved) The end goal will be to publish the conclusions of the workshop to stimulate further research and progress along the action plan.
