1 Research Interests Curriculum Vitae for Studying the impact of aerosol mixing state, reactivity, and structure on climate through the scattering and absorption of solar radiation and alteration of cloud properties. Additionally I am interested in the impact of aerosols on human health and providing links between atmospheric aerosol properties and toxicological responses to aerosol inhalation, as well as links between aerosol inhalation and epidemiological studies. Integrating online (mass spectrometry) and offline (microscopy/spectroscopy) single particle measurements to probe the detailed chemical and physical properties of aerosols Developing new methods to study heterogeneous reactions between both laboratory and ambient aerosols and trace gases to probe the detailed chemical processes involved in atmospheric aging of particles Specific Interests: Heterogeneous Reactions on Aerosols, Aerosol Sources and Evolution In the Atmosphere, Microscopy, Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, Nanoparticle Toxicology, Aerosol Light Scattering and Absorption, Field and Laboratory Measurements, Instrument Development Education University of California, San Diego (UCSD), La Jolla, CA Ph.D., Chemistry, 2010 & Biochemistry, advisor: Prof. Kimberly Prather Dissertation: Investigations into the Impact of Transported Particles on Air Pollution and Climate Using Aerosol Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry Carleton College, Northfield, MN B.A., Chemistry, 2005, advisor: Prof. Deborah Gross Honors and Awards Fulbright Award to Canada (2011) (offered, but declined by Dr. Ault) Department of Energy Global Change Education Program Graduate Research Environmental Fellowship ( ) American Association for the Advancement of Science 2010 Student Poster Competition Honorable Mention, Physical Sciences Division San Diego Unified Port District Environmental Advisory Committee Graduate Research Grant ($10,000) ( ) American Association for Aerosol Research Student Travel Grant (2009) San Diego Association of Environmental Professionals Scholarship, Honorarium (2008) UCSD Urey Fellowship, for excellent promise as a graduate student ( ) American Chemical Society I.M.
