3 DSC ANALYSYS (Differential scanning calorimetry / Calorimetria a scansione differenziale) The differential calorimetry is a technique used to study the transformation of a polymer when this is heated according to a program of thermal growth established, in an inert atmosphere (nitrogen) or oxidation (oxygen). The DSC curves reflect the variations in energy and structural analysis of the polymer. 4 TGA ANALYSYS (Thermal Gravimetric Analysys / Analisi Termogravimetriche) The thermogravimetry is a method of analysis which is carried out for continuous recording of changes of weight (mass) of a sample, in an inert atmosphere (nitrogen) or oxidation (oxygen), in function of temperature or time. The analysis result is usually expressed with a termogravigramme that reports on the abscissa the temperature or the time and on the ordinates the mass change, usually in pecentage; this graph is also defined curve of thermal decomposition. 5 FT-IR ANALYSYS (Fourier Trasform Infrared Spectroscopy / Spettrofotometria Infrarossa in Trasformata di Fourier) The infrared absorption spectroscopy (FTIR whose acronym is derived from Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) is an analytical technique widely used for the identification of organic materials and, in some cases, inorganic too. OUR laboratory is also equipped with a special tool (Transfer Line) capable of analyzing, by means of infrared spectrophotometry, the fumes coming from the TGA analysis, and this is particularly useful to identify the compounds of thermal degradation developed from the sample (example: volatile compounds). With this type of analysis wecan have answers : Type of components present in the sample analyzed Possible quantitative measures of the components Composition of fumes / Vapors from the sample

6 L.O.I. ( Limit Oxigen Index / Indice di Ossigeno) The room for the 'Oxygen index precisely determines the relative in flammability of plastics and other materials, by measuring the minimum concentration of oxygen that triggers the combustion according to ASTM D2863 and ISO 4589 specifications. The specimens are burned in an atmosphere of nitrogen and oxygen precisely controlled. The operator adjusts the feed gas and uses the readings of the flow meter to calculate the index of oxygen..
