2 Thirsty Plants Just a friendly reminder that it hasn t rained since July 4 th (shh! don t tell the tourists or they ll all want to stay here.) A friend described the Northwest climate as 9 months of rain forest and 3 months of desert. We actually get less rain here in the summer than the southwest deserts. So be kind to your plants, please water them regularly. Add compost to the soil to help it retain moisture and mulch your plants. For more tips on watering go to: and scroll down to click on the watering tips. Rochester Farmer s Market Stock up on fresh local produce, get some unique handcrafted items, and visit with friends and neighbors right here in downtown Rochester. Join us Saturday mornings at the middle school on Hwy 12, 9 AM to 2 PM. More info and pictures go to: Visit Some of Olympia s Best Gardens The garden conservancy is opening up some of the best private gardens for touring. Seven lovely gardens in the Olympia area will be open for tours on August 21 st from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission to each garden is $5.00 and the proceeds support the national preservation work of the conservancy and designated local gardens such as the Chase garden near Graham Washington. You get to see lovely gardens and be inspired and it s for a good cause.
