1 Kathryn Andren Time for Soul: Turn your midlife crisis into a season of success. Welcome back to The Summit. I am Amanda 'Pua' Walsh, and I am the co-founder of AstrologyHub.com. For our next presenter, we are going to be talking to Kathryn Andren, and Kathryn Andren is one of the most amazing contributors on Astrology Hub, and I am so happy to have her here with us today. She is going to be talking to us about The Seasons of the Soul and how to strategically navigate your soul cycles for This is really one of the most perfect talks for anyone who feels like they are going through some sort of mid-life crisis or major transition. She is going to be going through specific birth dates, so you can understand what is going to be active for you, in 2016, and then also what you can do with this, how to use this energy to your advantage. Make sure you grab your pen and calendar, and that way you will be able to note important dates and keep those top-of-mind. Kathryn, are you here? Hi, there. Aloha, Amanda. Yay, another former Hawaii resident. It's nice to talk with you, Kathryn. Great to be here. Thank you. Yeah. All right, let's go ahead and dive in, Kathryn. One of the most important things that comes up when I am offering and sharing astrology readings, Amanda, most people are coming to astrology because there is something that is going on, in their life, right now. You know? There is many reasons why you might see an astrologer. You might want to know something about your career, have further definition about your life intention and purpose. You may see an astrologer because you want to have a better understanding about relating to your family, whether it's your parents or talking with your children. Some people like to visit astrologers because they want to get a handle on my past-life patterns and how those past-life

2 patterns are helping me, or how I can work through them today, but what I am going to look at and share with you today is what we call the change agents in astrology. These change agents are four planets: Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Amanda, we could probably take a whole week on each one of these planets, but I want to deliver this today in a little appetizer version because I want people to understand that when the planetary patterns are active and alive in your personal birth chart, this is as if we were going to an acupuncture session. When these planets are touching, energizing or activating a specific part of our birth chart, then there is some part of our lives that is creating an invitation for change. Each of these four planets has their own flavor and their own character. You may even have them as distinct as winter, spring, summer and fall. Now, I lived in Hawaii for many years. We have wet season and dry season, but I grew up actually in New York, on the East Coast, so we had the full four range of seasons. In our discussion today, I am going to take some time with each one of these planets and look at, number one, when these planets are touching or aligning with themselves, meaning when the planet is in the sky story and when it aligns with itself in your own personal birth chart. This, for example, could be a Saturn return or a Uranus opposition. The other thing that we are going to look at today, which I am going to call the hot dates for That is the other topic title for this talk. If you are born during a certain time of the month, then these planets are energizing and aligning specifically with your sun this year. When there is a planet in today's sky story that is aligning with the sun, in your birth chart, the sun is your light in your life, and your fuel. There is a very significant change that can happen. Does that make sense, what I said? It does. I love how you talk about the acupressure. That analogy is really helpful, definitely. Because we are the third rock from the sun, and all of these planets are all orbiting around the sun, and then the sun is actually spinning and spiraling through space, right? Astrology, again, is a language of symbol, and it is a language of relationship, so where are the planets at the time of your birth, that is the snapshot. That is your sacred geometry. That is your mandala. Where are the planets in today's sky, and where are they, in relationship to you, in your chart, gives us another piece of the picture. I want to be a little more personal here so we can identify these Seasons of the Soul. What is a Saturn soul season? A theme for Saturn would be who's the boss? Saturn is the last planet we can see with the naked eye. We have our seven days of the week. We begin with the sun, Sunday, and Saturn is for Saturday. Because Saturn is the last planet, it gives an archetype or a symbolic energy of the edge or the end or the limit. When I am teaching classes, and we have groups of people in the room, I actually get people rubbing up against the wall and rubbing up against each other, holding, holding and touching, putting your hands on the desk. The Saturn is where I meet the edge. When I

3 am in a soul season of Saturn, we come up with experiences of limitation, what can I do and what can't I do. Think about when you may have had experiences of this in your life, when you either had to face authority, face rules or challenges that says, "You can do this, but you can't do that." Saturn is about integrity, and it is an anchor in the birth chart. It supports creating healthy boundaries. I wanted to touch briefly, then, on the challenges, the gifts and the lessons of a Saturn cycle. Saturn, as I mentioned, it could be I feel like I am under pressure here. There is not enough time to get stuff done. I like to talk about Saturn in some ways. If you are experiencing a Saturn cycle, it is as if, in some ways, in your life, literally or figuratively, you have to close up shop for a little while. Like when you are driving past a store, and it says, "We are temporarily closed," or, "We are under reconstruction so we can serve you better," that is one of the challenges of Saturn. You have to stop and slow down. The gift, however, the gift of Saturn, is about refinement. When I pull back, when I draw in, I am making it better. Saturn is also known as the Lord of Time, so it has also to do with time management. If I am managing my time well and properly, I actually can get more stuff done. Saturn is also about being discerning and selective. There is these gifts that come up with Saturn cycles that say, "I need to say yes when I mean yes, and no when I mean no." That is really one of the big opportunities of a Saturn cycle, and it has to do with cutting away or letting go of people, projects or plans that no longer serve you in your life. Saturn has to do with getting a reality check. If you are floating around, or if things are going not according to your plan, Saturn is sort of like the bouncer at the door, or he is the chaperone at the party. He is going to want to make sure that you are in check and that you are living your life in integrity. Those were a few of our lessons for Saturn. It really has to do with growing up and being responsible. Now, I thought that I would want to break it down and... When I say "do the math," let's do the math for Saturn cycles. Saturn takes approximately 29 years to go around the Sun one time, so if you are 29 years old, plus or minus one year, 28 to 30, if by chance you are 58 or 59, or even if you are 87 to 88, you will be having a Saturn return this year. Saturn, this year, 2016, Saturn, in our sky story, is in Sagittarius, so there is an opportunity, if you are having your Saturn return this year, to review and reconsider your belief systems. Now, Saturn can touch not only itself in your birth chart. Saturn can be touching any one of multiple places in your chart. As you are listening and tuning in, it can be like, "Oh, yeah, I feel like maybe I am in a Saturn cycle. I feel like I am up against the wall, or under pressure." 4 Here are our hot dates for Saturn will be aligning with your sun in your chart. If by chance your birthday is December 3 through 13, March 1 through 11, June 1 through 12, or September 12 through 13, there is a little theme going on for you that says something about "refine how you shine." Maybe it's time to draw in a little or pull back this year so that there is further refinement coming for you, in the following year. Do you have any questions, Amanda? I wanted to make a comment. Yeah, please. Okay, a couple of things. Number one, the dates that Kathryn reported to us, or shared with us, are in her free gift offering. I was finding myself really quickly trying to scribble them down, but then I remembered that they are actually in the pdf. You will be able to access them there. Then also, a question. For the 28th to 30th, Saturn returns. Yes. It seems like a lot of people at that point decide they want to start a family, or they get serious about their career. Can you talk to us a little bit about that? Absolutely. The Saturn return, in some ways, we think of it as a maturation point, or it is a growing-up phase. While maybe, in U.S. culture, you have the right to vote when you're 18, or you get to drink when you're 21, there are certain things that are rights of passage. Astrologically speaking, the Saturn return cycle is a right of passage. Each one of these are, each one of these cycles, as I will be discussing, are rights of passage in their own way, but the Saturn return in some ways is really about, as I was saying, being responsible. It is like it's time to grow up. I am the boss of my own life. I am at a point, whenever Saturn is touching a part of your chart, there is an invitation to further embody your own inner authority. It is really about tuning in and accessing your innate wisdom. Brilliant. I love it. Thank you, Kathryn. Now we are going to blast off into our outer planets. The outer planes are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Uranus is the first outer planet. It is one that we cannot see with the naked eye, and because t is the first outer planet, again, remember, symbolically, the symbolic language of astrology, Uranus then is the one that represents let's take things to a higher level. When there is Uranian activation happening in your birth chart, it is fast. It is quick. There is something inspirational going on. The theme would be full speed ahead. You could even hear it in my voice. I start talking faster when I am speaking about Uranus because it is actually so exciting. Uranus is the change agent that is like lightening. Uranus in mythology was the Sky god, so if you think about lightening,

5 if you were out in a field or watching a lightening storm, from a distance, it looks very exciting, but if you happen to be under it, you are getting fried. Uranus energy is quicker and faster than the wind, and the idea with Uranian cycles is that, if you know that you are in a soul cycle of Uranus, then your strategy is about how can you adapt quickly and be spontaneous with situations as they arise. Okay? That is a little strategy. Each of these soul cycles has a strategy. Now I want to talk a little further about the challenges, the gifts and the lessons about Uranian energy. If you are in a cycle of Uranus, sometimes you may feel like I am knocked off my feet, or there is too much happening, too fast. You could feel potentially that there is some kind of information overload, or even maybe accident-prone. Okay? The gifts, however, of Uranian energy is, again, that idea of we are moving full-speed ahead. We are taking things to a higher level. If I am embodying and working with the energy productively, then there is insights for inspiration, and there is motivation for inspired action. One way to do that, on a physical level, is it's time for an upgrade. I am getting a new computer. Again, there is a letting go of people or projects or plans that are heavy, or not in alignment with you anymore. You want to be putting yourself with people who are in the same vibration, or higher. Take note of that. It is good to know anyway, but especially in a Uranus cycle. Finally, the lesson, then, is about really I want to take this, whatever the this is, I am taking this to a higher level. Now, here is where we do the math, and for me this is the non-negotiable piece of astrology. Amanda, as I mentioned earlier, I know that we could talk about many different things, about astrology, and we have modern astrologers or traditional astrologers. There is Vedic astrology, and there is the tropical zodiac, but we are looking, here, very specifically, at a Sacred Geometry, meaning, oh, yeah, when it's full moon, the sun is setting in the West, and the moon is rising in the East, and they are at 180 degrees, they are in exact alignment with each other. That is non-negotiable. When we are looking at these soul cycles, we are really looking at the orbits of the planets around the sun, and where they are in relationship to each other, or in relationship to other specific planets in your own personal birth chart. When someone comes to me, and I say, "Oh, you are in a Uranus cycle, or you are in a Uranian soul season," these are the themes to work with, and these are the strategies that can be up, for you, these days. For example, Uranus takes 84 years to go around the sun one time. If you cut that number in half, that is 42, so people who are 42 this year, plus or minus one year, if you are in your early 40s, you are likely experiencing a Uranian cycle. For 2016, that is people who were born in '72 or '73. The other hot dates for Uranus, Uranus right now, in today's sky, is in Aries. Uranus, in 2016, is in the range between 16 and 24 degrees. If you have a copy of your personal birth chart, I want to invite you to look at where do these middle degrees or late degrees of Aries fall in your chart because that is going to give you a clue, "Oh, yeah, I am in one of these Uranian soul cycles." Very specifically, then, your sun is touched by

6 Uranus if you were born April 5 through 14, July 8 through 16, October 9 through 17, as well as January 7 through 15. You might know some people in a Uranus cycle. I am one of them. Nice, Kathryn. This one sounds really kind of exciting. It is exciting. It is exciting, and it's full speed ahead. Yeah, right. Part of that theme is that you've got to keep up. I have got that, oh, I don't know how to do this, but let me figure it out and do it. You need to keep up with it, and the gift is don't get knocked off your feet. Use the energy, use it as fuel. I remember that you said... I heard you speak in your webinar earlier today, and there was something that you mentioned, which I am really aligned with, Amanda, which is about having the access to resources. It is like when I am in my fullness of my energy body, when I am getting care, when I am getting a massage or body work, or I am doing all the things I am supposed to be doing, to help take care of myself, whether it's healthy eating or exercise or my meditation practice, I have more access to energy. When I am accessing energy, more clearly, in my life, in my world and in my body, then perhaps I can be working with some of these soul cycles in a more productive way, or I can harness the gifts of these soul cycles without getting knocked off my feet. No question, yeah. Yeah, it seems like it makes it easier for us to align with the energy in a productive way, for sure. That is true, no matter what, if we are going through a cycle or not, but these times it seems particularly important. Yeah. My intention here is to sort of qualify these cycles. People go through different cycles of change all the time, but if I can say, oh, I am in this particular season, like if I am approaching the winter, I need some better sweaters, or if it's rainy season, I don't need to water my plants, but I might need a rain coat. You know? I have certain strategies about what I can do, and it helps me go with the flow. Why push the river when I can go with the flow? That brings me to Neptune's cycle. My theme for Neptune's cycle, forgive me, please, but one of the themes of Neptune is, "Help me. I am drowning," so Neptune is the Lord of the Sea, has everything to do with water. One of my analogies for Neptune, if someone that I know is in a Neptune cycle, or if I am working with a client, and I see that there is Neptune active in their chart, sometimes it may feel for that person that the fog has rolled in. I can't see that far ahead. I can't quite... Look, I am stuttering. I can't quite get that far down the road, okay? The idea with a Neptune cycle is that it is a really strong inward time, really contrasting to Uranus, right? A very contrast to Saturn, where Saturn is all about structure and order and managing things and taking care of detail,

7 Neptune is let's go with the flow. It is literally the place of letting go and letting God. There is a strong sense of surrender that comes up with Neptune's cycle. Our challenge with Neptune could be even confusion or delusion or disappointments in some way. There can be the challenge of Neptune cycle where you have that feeling like I want to get out of this. There is this thing about escape: "Get me out of this." Here is the opportunity to turn that challenge into a gift, and turn it around as, if I want to get out of this, whatever the this is, there is the acknowledgement about raising it up to another spiritual vibration of there is nowhere to go but in. When that fog has rolled in, or if I feel that the emotions are overwhelming, here is an opportunity, when I am in a Neptune phase or a Neptune cycle, to really go deep inside and feel what I am feeling, and drop my attention further, deeper inward. Many of my clients have given me feedback around this when it is like they feel such a sense of relief because they can feel lethargic, or "I don't feel like doing that today," whatever the that is. My really big gift in sharing about these soul cycles is that, when we have a sense or understanding that these seasons have a beginning, a middle and an end. It is so helpful to learn, if I am at the beginning of this phase, or I am coming out of this phase, because a Saturn cycle may take a year or a year and a half maybe, at most, but we are talking about Neptune now, and when we look at Neptune and Pluto, those soul cycles can be two or three years. You could have multiple cycles happening at the same time, for example, as if I were listening to a magical symphony, and I hear the strings and the percussion and the wind instruments, you may have some of these cycles or patterns happening, concurrently. There is an invitation about facing the challenges and embodying the gifts of each. Finally, then, about Neptune, the lesson would be about checking in rather than checking out. There can be a strong desire to escape. Funny that I made this analogy with music, right? Music is actually a really strong supportive element for a Neptune cycle. When there is nowhere to go, the only place is in. Trust, trust is a huge lesson for Neptune. One of my teachers used to say, "I have been led, I will be led, and I am being led," so it is a really great mantra to remember, particularly if you are in Neptune cycle. Then the hot dates for Neptune cycle, if we do the math, here, Neptune is in Pisces right now. It is within seven to 11 degrees of Pisces, so, again, take note in your own personal birth chart where is Pisces in your birth chart. If by chance your sun is in Pisces, or if you are one of the mutable signs, the mutable signs are really lit up like a Christmas tree this year. I know that several of our other presenters are discussing that, in more full detail. We will hear a lot about the mutable signs this year, but if your birthday is between February 26 through 29, and early March, if you birthday is the last few days of May, or early June, if your birthday by chance is the last couple of days of August, and the first few days of September, or if your birthday is at the very end of November and very beginning of December, Neptune is touching, aligning and activating with your personal birth chart. Have a little compassion for yourself this year.

8 In 2016, you are in a Neptune cycle and there is an invitation to maybe rest and reset, and be really open to creative muse and inspiration. When I go in, see what comes out. Oh, that's great stuff, Kathryn. A question. You didn't mention when that happens in our life, overall. Yes, thank you. I was about to, and that's easy. Neptune is forgetfulness, or I am missing things. Neptune, I skipped over something. There is the details are a little fuzzy here. Anyway, I tend to weirdly embody the planets as I am talking about them. Yes, there is a life cycle, a Season of the Soul, called the Neptune Square. Interestingly, this happens very close to the timeline of the Uranus opposition. It is important to mention here, about this Neptune Square, for people right now, people are experiencing the Neptune Square if they are between age 38 and 41. Okay? Late 30s, early 40s really lit up for midlife cycles, mid-life transits, but if we look over time... This is hard to explain now, but have an understanding that the Neptune Square is happening for people now between age 38 and 41. However, if we look over decades of time, that number shifts a little bit, and that is simply because of the orbit of Neptune. It is generally closer to age 42, plus or minus a year or two. I think that these things are important to remember because some of these cycles are things that everyone is going to go through in their lifetime. Everyone is going to have their Saturn Return. Everyone will have a Uranus Opposition, a Neptune or a Pluto Square. Understanding that certainly helps us be compassionate towards each other as we are going through different cycles. Yes. That's one thing. The other thing that I was thinking, as you were speaking, is that it is like this in-breath and out-breath of our soul. There is these periods of time that are predetermined where it is best for us to go in, and then we get the inspiration. We are rested enough, or rejuvenated, and then we go out, and the action and everything that happens with the Uranus Opposition... Am I saying that right? Yes. It is like this period of time where we go in, and then we go out, and I love that. My children go to a Waldorf School, and they design the day around the in-breath and the out-breath. There is activity, and then there is downtime, and activity and downtime. It is amazing to see that our lives are designed that way, if we pay attention and if we give ourselves permission too. Exactly.

9 That's the thing. It is hard for people in our Western society to give themselves that opportunity to really just go in because we have all this programming around not being productive and not being of value and not getting things done. I can see how this would be a really challenging one for people. Yes, and this year, in 2016, Saturn and Neptune are in a direct relationship with each other, almost half of the year. Okay? The first half of 2016, if someone is in a Neptune cycle, you are also in a Saturn cycle. If you are in a Saturn cycle, you are also in a Neptune cycle. These planetary patterns are lining up in today's sky, and there is this extra energy and intention. Like the music, when I was talking about the music, like, oh, if I am in a Neptune cycle, it means to chill and go with the flow, yet simultaneously, if you are in a Saturn cycle, it means you need to create structure and healthy boundaries. How do we have a marriage and integration of these two planetary patterns? Really, 2016 is about having this really big, big vision and connecting in with that creative muse, and then having an anchor, a productive strategy or a plan, to work it. Saturn is about doing the work. That was another interesting thing to add in there because 2016 is this marriage of Neptune and Saturn, of heaven and earth, really. Wow. Beautiful, Kathryn. Okay, is the last one Pluto? Yeah. I will touch on that one, briefly. It is huge, but I will jump right in because I have lived on Hawaii Island for so many years. I know that you live on the islands, too, Amanda. Usually, I like to talk about Pluto like Pele. Pele is the fire goddess in the Hawaiian Islands. Pele is the lava. She is that hot stuff under the ground, and when that lava comes up to the surface, it can destroy. It will take things out, in its path, but eventually that lava will meet the ocean and create new land and new life. Pluto is like Pele in the sense that Pluto, in traditional mythology, he is the Lord of the Underworld. Okay? If I am in a Pluto cycle, or if you are watching, you see your friends, people... the age of Pluto squaring itself, the age is 37 to 39. I will give the hot dates for Pluto a little later, but everyone who is in that age range is in a Pluto cycle where the gift and the opportunity is I need to dig deep. I need to go under the surface, or things may be coming up and bubbling up, from under the surface, for me to look at and clear. Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld. He is the Lord of Death, so the challenge is that I may have to face death, literally or figuratively. This is the time of life where I am shedding skins, big time, or I may seem... I have to seemingly move through some kind of insurmountable difficulty. The gift of a Pluto cycle is truly about finding a renewed sense of empowerment. While Neptune cycle is the let go, let God, surrender phase, Pluto is you're going to take the bull by the horns, and we are going to do something. Okay? That is the main difference. It is literally about I have to let go of what's not working, and things are shedding and falling away, dissolving, like the lava maybe, and then new life is happening. When we

10 see those forest fires? I lived in Montana for a year also, and you drive through, and there will be a forest fire, and it looks so traumatic and dramatic, but we know that the pine cones and the earth gets fired up. Literally, it gets refueled from that fire, and all kinds of life bursts forth from it. My invitation to you, if you know now that you are in a Pluto cycle, if you are in that age range, between 37 and 39, and your hot dates for Pluto this year, the Pluto in our sky story will be touching the sun, in your personal birth chart, if you were born January 5 through 9, April 3 through 6, July 6 through 9, and October 7 through 10. This is because Pluto is in Capricorn right now, and that means, when Pluto is in Capricorn, it is touching all of the other cardinal signs. We are at the tele summit, at this forecasting summit, and we are in the Capricorn new moon. Capricorn is the first sign of the winter season in the northern hemisphere. These are the zodiac signs that initiate the season. We can learn more about these zodiac signs in my new class that is coming out, real soon, too. It would be so cool to create support groups through Astrology Hub. Yes. I am in the Pluto Square cohort of people. How great, to share experiences and how we are navigating the energy and working with it. Is it safe to say that the Pluto Square...? You mentioned the webinar that I spoke on. Actually, I was a speaker on another summit called Your Extraordinary Life, and my topic was The Shadow. Yes. It is like exactly what you would be talking about when you are Pluto Square, the underworld, the shadow. It seems like God, or the universe, whatever you want to think of, has created a design where this is a necessary cleansing period. If you think of it in terms of toxicity or accumulation, that we have spent the first part of our lives accumulating some degree of out-of-alignmentness. Right? We made choices that maybe aren't totally aligned with our soul, so this is a period of cleansing, where it is like, okay, it is all going to come up. You are going to see it. It might be uncomfortable. It might be dark, but it is time for it to come to the light so you can let go and move beyond it. Absolutely, Amanda, and really, it is this awesome opportunity to appreciate these nonnegotiable change agents. There is these non-negotiable phases of life, and there is that expression, "Chance favors the prepared." If I have a little bit of an inkling, this is like my cosmic weather report. Right? Or, if I know that I am in this age range or this bracket, or if I know my birthday is at a certain time, and that Pluto, in today's sky, is going to be touching my birth chart because I am a Capricorn, Cancer or Libra, if I am one of the cardinal signs, then I have tools that can empower me to perhaps navigate my life with a little more grace and ease. I don't know. It helps create... I like to say, about astrology,

11 that astrology provides context and compassion for my life experience, and then I may even have some tools and strategies, then, to work with it, in a more productive way. Love it. Okay, Kathryn.
