By the time the project closes (June 2013), it will have financed 1,032 sub- Page 1 of 9

projects, thus abundantly surpassing its 915 target. As of October 31, the sub-projects completed include 2,628 classrooms in almost 400 schools, 67 markets, 108 water points and sanitation sub-projects, 49 roads or bridges (rehabilitated or built), 101 health centers and 16 mini-electric networks. On average enrollment rates in schools built through the project have increased by 65 % and utilization rates in health centers have increased by 72%. Over 1 million people have benefited directly from the project. Under the Labor Intensive Public Works (LIPW) component more than 222,000 person days of employment have been created. In particular, under the first Additional Financing approved in 2010, 138 sub-projects have been completed, 187 are ongoing and 2 are awaiting final approval; by project end, a total 327 sub-projects will be implemented against 300 targeted. Concerning the second Additional Financing approved in 2011, out of the 60 sub-projects initially envisaged, 54 are ongoing and 4 are awaiting final approval,. Disbursement problems linked to the Bank required transferring of FSRDC's project accounts to the BCC were resolved last June, when FSRDC was allowed to revert to the original banking arrangements. Problems with procurement activities related to the departure of the national procurement specialist for another Bank project should finally have also found a solution, as the recruitment process for a replacement was finally concluded in October. Direct project beneficiaries Number Value 0.00 1136132.00 487500.00 01-Feb-2005 This indicator will have to be reviewed as until now it has been underestimated, because it counted as beneficiaries only members of project committees rather than the whole community. It has been agreed that for most types of sub-projects, the whole community should be considered beneficiary (e.g., water supply, health, sanitation, transport). NB: The percentage of female beneficiaries (a sub-indicator) is estimated on the basis of census figures; the previous Page 3 of 9
