The Bulldogs recorded nine hits against the Tigers pitching staff, finding most of the success with slap hitters Sydni Emanuel, Samantha LaZear and Cortni Emanuel. S. Emanuel was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day while C. Emanuel also had three and LaZear finished with a hit and two runs. Chelsea Wilkinson threw a phenomenal game for the Bulldogs, striking out eight batters and only allowing two hits. The senior closed each of her six innings with a strikeout, as five of those frame stranded one or more LSU runner. Brittany Gray earned her fifth save of the season, throwing the final inning with no hits and one strikeout. For the series, S. Emanuel hit.636 while Alex Hugo led the team with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. In the circle, Wilkinson held the Tigers to a.180 average while striking out 12 in two appearances. THE EMANUELS BATS HEAT UP Going 1-2 in the Georgia lineup, the Emanuel sisters are back-to-back in many of the batting average rankings. Younger sister, Cortni, who set the school record with a 23-game hitting streak earlier in the season, is currently first in the SEC and ninth in the nation with a.480 average. Sydni is right behind after a stellar weekend against LSU, now sitting second in the league and 10th in the nation with a.474 mark. No other school has two players in the top 15 nationally, let alone two that are sisters. WILKINSON, GRAY WITH 100+ STRIKEOUTS After falling one short last season, Gray notched her 100th strikeout of the season against LSU, after tying her career high with 11 strikeouts in game two against the Tigers. Now the sophomore and Wilkinson each have over 100 strikeouts on the year with plenty of games to add more. The duo makes Georgia just one of four schools in the nation to have two pitchers on staff with 100+ strikeouts, joining Florida, Lipscomb and Charlotte. ALEX HUGO - Led team with 3 runs vs. LSU - 2 of 3 hits against Tigers were doubles - Had 2 RBI over series CHELSEA WILKINSON - Held LSU to a.180 batting average - Struck out 23 over last week - Fanned 12 LSU batters

Notes GEORGIA MOVES TO NO. 17 IN NCAA RPI The NCAA released its third RPI of the year, as Georgia moved up a spot to No. 17 after notching wins last week against in-state rival Georgia Tech and nationally-ranked LSU. The Bulldogs are now 4-3 against the top 20, 7-6 against the top 50 and 14-7 against teams in the top 100 RPI, having faced 15 teams. This week provides challenges for Georgia, as it faces No. 42 North Carolina and No. 9 Missouri on the road while the remaining schedule has five in the top 60. GEORGIA USES WALK-OFF PLAYS IN LAST WINS OVER UNC, MIZZOU In both of the last meetings against North Carolina and Missouri, Georgia used walk-off hits to take the wins. After falling 15-9 in a game that had 28 hits and nine errors combined in the regular season, Georgia fought back against North Carolina in a win-or-go-home game at last year s Athens Regional. UNC came back to knot the game in the top seventh with a home run, but Alex Hugo answered the call, sending an 0-2 pitch over left center to seal the win. Against Mizzou in the series finale, the Tigers also made it a tied game in the top seventh using a three-run frame. Hugo was then intentionally walked followed by an Anna Swafford five-pitch walk to let a Tina Iosefa single bring in Hugo s winning run. GEORGIA RECORDS PROGRAM S 500TH HOME WIN With the shutout win over Georgia Southern on Wednesday, Georgia secured its 500th home win in program history. The program started in 1997, as it now holds a home record of 505-141, good for a winning percentage of.782, while 381-80 since Jack Turner Stadium opened in 2004. HARRIS-CHAMPER NOTCHES 750TH WIN AT GEORGIA Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer notched her 750th win at Georgia after winning six games in Charleston, S.C. Now in her 16th year in Athens, Harris-Champer has never had a losing overall record while notching 40 or more wins 14-consecutive seasons. Earlier this season, the California native hit her 950th career win, as she is in her 20th season coaching. Over that span, she has guided teams to 18 Regionals, eight Super Regionals and four Women s College World Series appearances. TRIO OF BULLDOGS NAMED TO USA SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST Georgia softball s seniors Alex Hugo and Chelsea Wilkinson along with sophomore Cortni Emanuel were each selected to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. Georgia is one of eight SEC schools with a student-athlete on the list, as 15 conference players were named. The three honorees are also tied for the most among all schools with Michigan and LSU. The Top 25 Finalists for the 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 13. While an athlete does not have to be on the Watch List to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The Top 10 Finalists will be announced May 11 and the Top 3 announced May 25. The 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 31. CHALLENGING 2016 SCHEDULE The challenges will come in plenty in the Bulldogs schedule with 12 foes claiming a spot in a 2015 NCAA Regional along with five of the eight teams in last year s Women s College World Series, including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and UCLA. Of the 36 opponents on the slate, 23 ranked in the top 100 RPI by the end of the 2015 season, including 14 in the top 50 and five in the top 10. With nine ranked or receiving votes in the final national polls, 14 teams finished the year with 35 or more wins, including eight with 40 or more. HEAD COACH LU HARRIS-CHAMPER Head coach Lu Harris-Champer is entering her 20th season of coaching while her 16th at Georgia. Overall, Harris-Champer has accumulated 971 career wins, including 762 with the Bulldogs. She has guided the squads in her career to four Women s College World Series, eight Super Regionals and 18 Regional berths. Harris- Champer has reached 40 or more wins in 18 of 19 seasons coaching and has never had a losing overall record. NEW COACHES Georgia welcomes two new coaches to its staff in assistant coach Rachele Fico and volunteer assistant coach Nick French. Fico was a two-time All-American pitcher at LSU and comes to Athens after serving as pitching coach at top-25 program South Alabama. Spending the last four years at Holy Cross, French comes to Georgia with experience from coaching at Arizona and Memphis as well. WINNING TRADITION Since the opening season in 1997, Georgia has accumulated 877 wins, including 303 in SEC action. A majority of those wins have come under the helm of Lu Harris-Champer, 762 to be exact in her 16 years in the Classic City. The Bulldogs have had 14-straight seasons with 40 or more wins, including seven of those with 50 or more victories. POSTSEASON STAPLE The Bulldogs have made themselves a mainstay in NCAA Championship action, making it to a NCAA Regional in each of the past 14 seasons. Its stellar track record into the postseason slate puts Georgia as one of 11 teams in the nation to appear in a Regional for 14 or more straight years. Within that realm, Georgia is one of three Southeastern Conference teams to produce such success. Georgia isn t just a staple in Regional fields, but also into the next round, appearing in eight Super Regionals since 2005. The Bulldogs have made it to Super Regionals the last two seasons, just one of 12 teams to do so. The pinnacle of college softball is in Oklahoma City, and Georgia made back-to-back showings at the Women s College World Series in 2009 and 2010, finishing as one of the last four teams standing in both. JACK TURNER STADIUM The Bulldog softball team will play its 13th season in the multi-million dollar Jack Turner Stadium in 2016. The grandstands hold close to 1,400 fans with additional standing room while outfield seating was added in 2015. The Jack Turner Stadium, named for the late Jack Turner thanks in part to gifts from himself and his son Jimmy Turner, has been chosen to host eight NCAA Regionals and four NCAA Super Regionals since its inception in 2004. Georgia is 381-80 since Jack Turner Stadium opened while 505-141 in all home games. Jack Turner Stadium saw its top crowd of 1,986 against Tennessee in 2013 while its top attendance in 2015 was versus Florida with 1,848 fans in the stands.
