1 Researching the Major Norse Gods We have learned about the Greek and Roman gods and now its time to see how peoples from a different region of the globe made sense of their ancient world. To do this, you will begin by researching the gods of Norse mythology. REQUIREMENTS: Notecards : 1) Minimum 7 note for EACH god/goddess 2) Bibliography entry in MLA formant for each resource used for notes Gods/Goddesses (10 points for each god = 150 points): 1) Odin 6) Loki 11) Ve 2) Balder (Baldr) 7) Freya (Frehya/Freja) 12) Forseti 3) Frigg (Frigga) 8) Sif 13) Heimdall 4) Thor 9) Bragi 14) Hel 5) Tyr 10) Vili (Hoenir) 15) Ostara (Eostre) What to research about each god 1) Realm he/she rules over and/or powers or duties he/she has 2) Explain where he/she lives 3) Spouses/lovers, parents, children 4) Personality 5) 1 entire mythological story which he/she is involved (other than Ragnarök) 6) Contributions to the universe (stories, creations, etc ). What, if any, role does he/she have in Ragnarök? And does he/she survive Ragnarök? 7) Modern day relevance. Where do we still see this god in today s world (company names/logos, days of the week, etc ) 8) Picture of the god (3X3 copied or printed). NO PICS from movies, TV or comic books (Thor, Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., etc ) Works Cited page (15 points WRITING POINTS) 1) At the end of the research, you are to create and submit a works cited page for all the resources used to obtain your cards.
