Claudio, Ap 62, Sao Paulo SP, CEP , Brazil Tel FIELDS OF INTEREST My scientific interests lie primarily in the field of Quantum Field Theory with spatial inhomogeneities and/or under external conditions, and primarily are concerned with the investigation of the Casimir effect and related vacuum phenomena. The aim of the research is to construct renormalizable gauge-invariant and local QFT models describing systems with sharp boundaries and/or volume imperfections of most general kind. Such models allow one to extract selfconsistently all possible observables induced by existence of the media, not merely the Casimir energy itself. The specific part of my research is concerned with the application of QFT methods to condensed matter systems, and in particular investigation of the interaction of carbon nanomaterials with classical and quantum electromagnetic field, and with single atoms and molecules. The outstanding properties of graphene (its monoatomic thickness, high mobility of the charge carriers and their relativistic nature) make the relativistic quantum physics (that is the QFT) fully applicable for description of its characteristics, to which I lately devote a significant part of my activities. My former studies also included research on resonance interaction of waves propagating in non-uniform media (with heterogeneities treated within perturbation theory) and construction of exponentially localized exact solutions to wave equations (including non-linear ones and high dimensional). During the study years at the University I have been involved considerably in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have been carrying on the practical trainings on Complex Analysis, Electrodynamics and Many Body Systems.
