6 Research Interests; Subjects; Nanoscale structures formed on semiconductor and metal surfaces, semiconductor surfaces and interfaces, metal surfaces. 1. Physical properties (peculiar electronic states, phase transitions, etc.) of exotic nano-structures (one-dimensional wires and quantum dots) on semiconductor and metal surfaces. 2. Organic-molecule, metal and semiconductor ultrathin films on semiconductor surfaces. 3. Adsorbate structures and electronic structures on semiconductor surfaces. 4. Adsorption and reaction of (organic-) molecules on semiconductor surfaces. 5. Atomic level understanding of the oxidation processes of semiconductors. 6. Interaction between large organic molecules and surfaces. 7. Developing new material functions for organic molecules. 8. Magnetic properties of thin films and quantum dots. 9. Clean and metal adsorbed III-V semiconductor surfaces.
