4 Supply Chain Study for: Denmark Objectives for the study: Establish existing and forecast regional expenditure and employment. Determine which companies are suppliers or plan to be. Determine regional capabilities. Assess how benefits may increase through filling supply chain gaps. Recommend actions for further development of the supply chain. 6 Study conclusions - DK Globalization shapes the market on: Import of industry hardware and services Export of the manufactured offshore wind turbines Outsourcing manufacturing to other countries Globalization is depending on a number of factors. 7 Study Conclusions - DK No supply gaps on material deliveries It is necessary for the wind industry to deal with local and foreign politics (subsidies, laws, infrastructure) Handling of electricity (overrun, frequency, storing) from wind turbines is difficult - need to be addressed Interaction between oil/gas offshore industry and traditional wind industry important O f f s h o r e w i n d P O W E R i n g t h e N o r t h S e a R e g i o n J u n e B r e m e r h a v e n G e r m a n y7

9 Windpower in DK - historically 1997 The Offshore Plan for the Danish Sea is launched: Four areas are designated as being the best for offshore wind parks. 10 Windpower in DK - historically 2002 The Danish government requests market based construction of offshore wind farms. Licitation as known within the oil/gas industry is introduced with concessions in a bidding round. 11 Windpower in DK - historically 2004 Political agreement of 29. march 2004: 2 new parks each 200 MW % af DK's electrical consumption covered by windpower. 20% from offshore wind. The licitation winners are DONG Energy (Horns Rev II) and Vattenfall (Nysted II) 2007 The government aims for 30% af DK's electricital consumption to be covered by wind by A majority is expected to be covered by offshore wind.
