This section describes t h e procedure o f setting t h e CT30 Barcode Scanner b y reading t h e setup barcodes a n d provides some example for demonstration. Steps Action Feedback if Successful 1 Turn on CT30 Barcode Scanner... It will response with a long beep(high t o n e ), i t ' s L E D shows red a n d w i t h I n t m t twinkle. N o t e : How t h e CT30 Barcode Scanner establishes a connection w i t h computer o r other compatible device, please refer to Chapter 2. 2 Enter the Setting Mode... TheCT30 Barcode Scanner will response three beeps (tone descending from high t o l o w ), and i t s LED indicator will flashing purple. E n t e r S e t u p 3 Reada Setup barcode The CT30 Barcode Scanner will response three beeps (tone ascending from l o w t o high), a n d i t s LED indicator will flashing purple. For Example: Enable Codabar 4 Exit the Setting Mode... The CT30 Barcode Scanner will response three beeps (tone descending from high t o l o w ), and i t s L E D indicator 8

Steps of Setup: Enter Setup Details (eg: Enable/Disable a Barcode) Exit Setup Enter the Setting Mode F o r t h e scanner t o enter t h e setting mode, y o u must have i t read t h e "Enter Setup" barcode, w h i c h will b e located a t t h e bottom o f almost every page o f t h i s manual. TheCT30 Barcode Scanner will respond with three beeps (tone descending from high to l o w ), a n d i t s L E D indicator becomes purple a n d g o o f f quickly after reading t h e barcode. Enter Setup F o r setting scanner parameters, see "Reada Setup Barcode" below. Exit the Setting Mode with Save F o r t h e scanner t o e x i t t h e setting mode, y o u must h a v e i t read t h e "Exitw i t h Save" barcode, w h i c h will b e located a t t h e bottom o f almost every page o f t h i s manual. 10 Exit with Save Exit the Setting Mode without Save I f y o u want t o e x i t t h e setting mode without saving a n y changes, y o u must h a v e t h e scanner read t h e "Exitwithout Save" barcode. Just like reading the "Enter Setup" barcode, the scanner will respond with three beeps (tone ascending f r o m l o w t o high) after reading t h e barcode. Exit without Save Restore Factory Defaults "RestoreFactory Defaults" is a special barcode. The CT30 Barcode Scanner will respond w i t h a short beep (high tone) after reading t h i s barcode. At t h i s t i m e, t h e scanner system could restore factory defaults, a n d n o need t o read "Exitw i t h Save" barcode again. The Scanner defaults enable HID, PIN defaults RestoreFactory Defaults N o t e : Most of setting mode have restore factory defaults selection. The factory default value for each setting i s indicated b y a n asterisk "*". Y o u could u s e t h i s barcode a t t h e following status: 1 The scanner can n o t w o r k. F o r example, i t can not read barcodes. 2 Y o u forget t h e settings y o u d i d t o t h e scanner before, a n d y o u don't want t o b e affected b y t h e settings when y o u u s e t h e scanner. 3 After u s i n g a function w h i c h i s n o t b e u s e d usually i n t h e scanner. 10
11 Check Software V e r s i o n I f y o u want t o know t h e software version o f CT30, should read t h e Enter Setup a n d Output Software V e r s i o n barcode: Enter Setup Output S o f t w a r e V e r s i o n Checking t h e software version i s done a t t h e enter setup mode, so after output t h e software version, need to read Exit without Save barcode. Exit without Save Save Custom Settings 1. You may change factory defaults, and customize some functions suitable for your own applications when you use CT30, you must read the Enter Setup Function barcode you want t o customize Save CustomSettings Exit w i t h Save barcodes. 14 1.1Battery The scanner is powered by two AA batteries or AAA alkaline batteries. The batteries can support the scanner work continuous for 60 hours, or read barcodes (read an EAN-13 barcode per 5s ) Mounting t h e battery (charging) 1) Hold t h e scanner face d o w n i n o n e hand. 2 )Press the back case and push like picture. 3 ) p u t i n t h e batteries. 4 )close t h e b a c k case H o w t o operate CT30 Barcode Scanner T u r n on t h e scanner Press t h e Power key for about 2 seconds. The scanner will respond w i t h a l o n g beep (high tone), a n d i t s L E D indicator i s flashing. T u r n off t h e scanner Press t h e Power key for about 3 seconds. The scanner w i l l respond w i t h t w o short beeps (high tone) a n d t h e L E D indicator i s t u r n off. 14

16 1.2Transmit Buffer Duringt h e Bluetooth connection, t h e CT30 Scanner u s e s a 2 K B memory a s a d a t a buffer, a n d sends t h e collected data t o t h e h o s t computer o n e b y one v i a t h e Bluetooth. Upon reading a barcode successfully, t h e scanner responds w i t h one short beep a n d i t s L E D indicator becomes green and goes o f f quickly. However, t h e h o s t computer may n o t receive the data immediately if getting out of range. With the 2KB transmit buffer, the scanner can ignore t h e transmission status a n d keep o n reading barcodes u n t i l t h e buffer i s full. When t h e buffer i s full, t h e scanner will respond w i t h a l o n g beep (low tone), t h i s reminds t h e u s e r t h a t t h e space o f buffer i s not enough a n d can not read barcode a n y Once t h e Buffer i s full, t h e u s e r should return t o t h e range o f BT connection quickly, t h e data i n t h e buffer can b e sent b a c k t o t h e h o s t computer a n d release t h e space of buffer. N o t e : The 2KB t r a n s m i t buffer o n t h e scanner can h o l d a s many a s barcodes bases o n EAN13. Y o u can choose t o clear t h e data i n t h e buffer e v e r y t i m e when y o u t u r n o n t h e scanner. Enable ClearDatai n Buffer When Turn On the Scanner *Disable Clear Data in Buffer When Turn On the Scanner N o t e : Y o u can clear t h e d a t a i n t h e buffer v i a enable barcode, y o u can a l s o clear t h e d a t a i n t h e buffer v i a p r e s s t h e Power key l o n g t i m e. After t h e Bluetooth connect successfully, t h e barcodes i n t h e buffer will upload t o appointed position automatically. You also can setup upload the barcodes in the buffer or n o t v i a read t h e following barcodes. By default, i t i s enabled. I f y o u d o n t want t o upload t h e barcodes automatically, y o u can setup a s disabled, when t h e Bluetooth connect, t h e barcodes w o n t upload. Y o u can double click Power key t o start upload t h e barcodes. (*)Enable Auto Uploading Disable Auto Uploading E n t e r S e t u p E x i t with S a v e E x i t without S a v e 16
17 1.2.1 Inventory Mode I f y o u want t o keep t h e barcodes i n t h e buffer o f CT30 for multiple uploading, y o u can choose inventory mode. I n inventory mode, CT30 w i l l count t h e number o f t h e barcodes automatically, and control t h e t i m e, position e t c. for uploading. Also, y o u can clear t h e barcodes i n t h e buffer after uploading. Following i s t h e setup method: 1 ) Read Enter Inventory Mode barcode t o enter i n t o t h e inventory mode Enter Inventory Mode 2 ) If you want to recover to normal mode, read the Enter Normal Mode barcode Enter Normal Mode 3 ) Read t h e Clear t h e barcodes i n t h e buffer barcode t o clear t h e barcodes (only suitable for inventory mode) Cleart h e barcodes i n t h e buffer 4 ) Read Data Uploading barcode t o upload t h e barcodes i n t h e buffer (only suitable for inventory mode) DataUploading 5 ) Read Upload Counting barcode to count the number of the barcodes (only suitable for inventory mode) Upload Counting Note:Inventory function can be used under any scan mode mentioned in

21 1.5Scan Modes Three kinds o f scan modes a r e supported b y t h e CT30 Barcode Scanner: Manual Mode By default, t h e scan mode i s set t o Manual Mode. I f t h e u s e r keeps p r e s s t h e Scan Key, t h e CT30 Scanner will e m i t a red light line. This indicates t h e scanner could scan, t h e scanning will not stop until the scanner under the following situation. * Reada barcode successfully; * Release t h e Scan Key. 24 Delay Between Re-Read The delay time between re-read of above scan modes could be set by the following barcode. 400ms 800ms 1s (*)2s 3s 5s 10s 15s For Example: 1. Read the "Enter Setup" barcode; 2. Read the "Auto Power off Mode" barcode; 3. Read the "1s" of the time interval between each scanning barcode; 4. Read the "Exit with Save" barcode. 26 Chapter 2 H o w toconnect with BT 1 Make CT30 full charged, press Power key. If the scanner never connected with the computer before, it will responds with a beep, and flashing red. 2 Have t h e scanner read t h e "Enter Setup" barcode t o enter t h e setting mode. 3 Have t h e scanner read t h e associated barcode t o activate t h e BT connection interface. 4 Have the scanner read the barcodes for related settings. 5 Have t h e scanner read t h e barcode t o e x i t t h e setting mode. 6 The CT30 Scanner will stay active for 1 minute waiting for a connection request from the host(spp) or trying to connect to the host(hid). 30 The computer will search Bluetooth devices automatically. A few seconds later, y o u will find CT30 i n t h e available devices list, click Next Select Enter t h e device s pairing code, and click N e x t. Input t h e pairing code 10010, a n d click Next 30
31 Y o u can find a prompting a t t h e l o w e r right corner o f your computer desktop, a s following. After around 5 seconds, y o u will hear a beep from CT30, and t h e indicator from red t o blue. T h e n connect successfully. 31
32 Y o u can open a editable textbox (Notepad, w o r d etc.), a n d read t h e barcodes. ( Note: After pairing successfully, open Bluetooth Chat, then you can read the barcodes i n SPP mode.) Now, y o u click Show Bluetooth Devices, y o u can find t h e CT30 i n Devices a n d Printers. 32

35 2.4Connect t o PDAv i a BT PDA i s t r y i n g t o connect t o t h e CT30 Scanner (BT SPP). 1. Press t h e Power key a n d t u r n o n t h e CT30 Scanner w i t h correct BT settings, such a s setting u p SPP a s BT t r a n s m i t interface, a n d BT PIN code specified, e t c. 2. F i n d t h e BT i c o n o n PDA, a n d double-click. 3. Click[ A d d NewDevice]. 35
36 4. Choose "CT30",click [Next]. 5. Enter t h e PIN Code. When setting u p a BT connection, i f y o u choose "TheDefault Value 1 ", input 10010; If you choose "The Default Value 2 ", input 40510; if you specified a unique PIN code o n your o w n, input i t. Click [Next]. 6. Click [Finish]. Click[New Transmit Port] in [COM port]. 36

Active or Hide the Input Method During the scanning, you may use the soft keypad if you want to add remark information, you just need double click Power key quickly, it will active the soft keypad.
