We find tht the esultnt meti is non-eltivisti-dk-mtte-indued spe-time embedded in stti Fiedmnn-Lemîte- Robetson-Wlke univese. This mens tht the flt ottion uve not only leds to the existene of dk mtte but lso suggests the bkgound geomety of the univese. The flt ottion uve nd the demnd tht the dk mtte be non-exoti togethe indite (nely) flt univese s fvoed by the moden osmologil obsevtions. We obtin the expessions fo enegy density nd pessue of dk mtte hlo nd onsequently the eqution of stte of dk mtte. Vious othe spets of the solution e lso nlyzed. PACS numbes: Gz, h, Jb Keywods: Gvittion; Dk mtte; Glti Hlo I. INTRODUCTION It hs been known fo long time tht ottion uves of neutl hydogen louds in the oute egions of glxies nnot be explined in tems of the luminous mtte ontent of the glxies, t lest within the ontext of Newtonin gvity o of genel eltivity (see fo eview). In ddition, the veloity dispesion in glxy lustes indites muh gete mss thn would be infeed fom luminous mtte ontined in the individul glxies. The most widely epted explntion, bsed on the stndd gvittionl theoy, postultes tht lmost evey glxy hosts lge mount of nonluminous mtte, the so lled gvittionl dk mtte, onsisting of unknown ptiles not inluded in the ptile stndd model, foming hlo ound the glxy. The dk mtte povides the needed gvittionl field nd the mss equied to mth the obseved glti flt ottion uves in glxy lustes. The dk mtte poblem ises beuse of nïve Newtonin nlysis of the ne onstnt tngentil veloity of ottion up to distnes f beyond the luminous dius of the glxies. This leds to the onlusion tht the enegy density Eletoni ddess: fook hmn@yhoo.om Eletoni ddess: kmlnndi952@yhoo.o.in Eletoni ddess: u bhd@yhoo.om Eletoni ddess: mehediklm@yhoo.o.in Eletoni ddess: khkboty28@yhoo.om deeses with the distne s 2 nd theefoe tht the mss of glxies ineses s m(). Thee e sevel poposls fo the dk mtte omponent, nging fom new exoti ptiles suh s those pedited by supesymmety 2 to othe less exoti ndidtes suh s mssive neutinos o even odiny elestil bodies suh s Jupite like objets. Sevel othe nlyti hlo models exist in the litetue inluding those soued by sl fields. Fy 3 onsideed modelling by Bns-Dike mssless sl field while Mtos, Guzmán nd Nuñez 4 onsideed mssless minimlly oupled sl field with potentil. A boson st fomed by self inteting mssive sl field with quti intetion potentil s model of glti hlo ws investigted by Colpi, Shpio nd Wssemn 5. A simil boson st s model of glti hlo ws fist investigted by Lee nd Koh 6. A eent hlo model is disussed lso in the bnewold theoy 7. Some uthos 8 hve onsideed globl monopoles s ndidte fo glti hlo in the fmewok of the sl tenso theoy of gvity. Altentively, explntion of the obseved flt ottion uve is povided though modifition of Newtonin dynmis (in the egion of vey smll eletions) 9,0. Anothe ttempt to esolve the dk mtte poblem lies within the fmewok of Weyl onfoml gvity suggested by Mnnheim nd Kzns, with the distintion tht it does not postulte flt ottion uve s n input but pedit it. Suh pedition is possible lso within the Chen Simmons gvity inspied by sting theoy 2,3.
2 In eent yes, the mount of dk mtte in the Univese hs beome known moe peisely: CMB nisotopy dt indite tht bout 85% of totl mtte in glxy is dk in ntue. Big bng nuleosynthesis nd some othe osmologil obsevtions equie tht the bulk of dk mtte be nonbyoni, old o wm, stble o long-lived nd not inteting with visible mtte. Howeve, despite long nd intensive investigtions, little is s yet known bout the ntue of dk mtte. The pupose of the pesent wok is to show tht, with the input of flt ottion uve nd the ssumption tht dk mtte be desibed s pefet fluid, the genel theoy of eltivity not only ounts fo the dk mtte omponent of glti lustes but lso suggests the sptil uvtue of the univese. The gvittionl influene of n bity dk mtte omponent is ontolled by its stess tenso. In this ontext we note tht, while the existing ppohes of explining flt ottion uves e useful in thei own ight, mny of the models end up with pediting nisotopi dk mtte fluid stess tenso. On the othe hnd, no physil mehnism is stted explining why spheil distibution should hve suh nisotopy. Thee is lso no obsevtionl evidene in suppot of it. Theefoe, it seems moe esonble to onside n isotopi pefet fluid distibution fo dk mtte beuse peditions fom suh model t stell nd osmi sles hve been obsevtionlly ooboted beyond ny doubt. We shll ptiully study the genel fetues of dk mtte suh s its eqution of stte. The mss distibution in glti hloes should povide diet pobe into the ntue of ptiles onstituting the dk mtte beuse the inne stutue of the hlo is ptiully sensitive to the dk mtte popeties 4. In this investigtion, we shll wok only fom fluid pespetive leving the question bout the ptile identity of dk mtte open. whee the funtions ν() nd λ() e the meti potentils. Then the Einstein field equtions beome ( = ): e λ λ 2 + = 8πGρ (2) 2 e λ 2 + ν = 8πGp (3) 2 2 e λ 2 (ν ) 2 +ν 2 λ ν + (ν λ ) = 8πGp. (4) Fo iul stble geodesi motion in the equtoil plne, the onsidetion of flt ottion uve gives the ondition (see Appendix) e ν = B 0 l, (5) whee l is given by l = 2(v φ ) 2 nd B 0 is n integtion onstnt. The obseved ottionl uve pofile in the egion dominted by dk mtte is suh tht the ottionl veloityv φ beomes ppoximtely onstnt with v φ 0 3 ( 300km/s) fo typil glxy. The Eqs. (3) nd (4) then led to the following eqution whee (e λ ) + e λ =, (6) II. GRAVITATIONAL FIELD IN THE DARK MATTER REGION nd = 4(+l) l2 2+l (7) Glti ottionl veloity pofiles 5 of lmost ll the spil glxies e hteized by pid inese fom the glti ente, ehing nely onstnt veloity fom the neby egion of the glxy f out to the hlo egion. Ou tget is to exploit this obseved fetue to obtin the spetime meti in the hlo egion, nd nlyze it. As mentioned ledy, obsevtionl dt suggest tht the dk mtte omponent in the glxy ounts fo lmost 85% of its totl mss. Ntully, luminous mtte does not ontibute signifintly to the totl enegy density of the glxy, ptiully in the hlo egion. Theefoe, we shll tet the mtte in the glti hlo egion s pefet fluid defined by stesses T = Tθ θ = Tφ φ = p, whee Tµ ν is the mtte enegy momentum tenso. The genel stti spheilly symmeti spetime is epesented by the following meti ds 2 = e ν() dt 2 +e λ() d (dθ 2 +sin 2 θdφ 2 ), () An ext solution of Eq.(6) is given by = 4 2+l. (8) e λ = + D, (9) whee D is n integtion onstnt. Sevel obsevtions follow fom the meti (): () Note tht the spe time meti given by Eq.() though Eqs. (5) nd (9) is n inteio solution. This type of spetime definitely nnot be symptotilly flt neithe n it hve the fom of spetime due to entlly symmeti blk hole. Wht n be sid is tht this line element desibes the egion whee the tngentil veloity of the test ptiles is onstnt nd tht it hs to be joined with the exteio egion with othe types of spe time. The extent of v φ = onstnt ends t some lge distne whee the egion beomes symptotilly flt.
3 In piniple, the onstnt D should be obtined fom the juntion onditions but the glti boundy is not obsevtionlly defined yet. It is moe likely tht dk mtte distibution will not emin the sme ne the peiphey of the hlo. (b) Inseting the bove solution in Eqs. (2) - (4), one n edily get the expessions fo ρ, p s ρ = l(4 l) 8πG 4+4l l 2 2 D(6 l)(+l) l(2 l)/(2+l) 2+l (0) p = l 2 8πG 4+4l l 2 2 +D(+l) l(2 l)/(2+l) () w 00 The most notble spet is the pesene of the lst tem in the expessions of both enegy density ρ nd pessue p tht ineses with dil distne (fom glti ente). Note tht oding to the Newtonin theoy, whih is supposed to be indistinguishble fom genel eltivity in vey wek field, one should expet only the tem ρ Newton = l 8πG in 2 geement with the Poisson eqution, whih integtes to give the Newtonin mss M() inesing linely with. But the input of the onstnt tngentil veloity leds to genel eltivisti oetions to Newtonin expessions s evident in Eqs. (0), (). The fist tem of the ight hnd side of Eq.(0) gives the expeted Newtonin tem in the leding ode nd to 5l 2 8πG 4. 2 the sme ode genel eltivisti oetion tem Sinel is smll, the oetion tems e smll s expeted. Howeve, the seond tem in Eq.(0) hs ompletely diffeent ntue thn the onventionl fetue of dk mtte enegy density; the oesponding mss ineses nonlinely with dil distne, though bit slowly s l is vey smll. This ontibution will vnish if D vnishes. We would see tht even 0 is onsistent with the flt ottion uve. () The pmete D is eognized 7 s the sptil uvtue (with negtive sign) of the univese. A ompison of the obtined spe time meti in the limit l 0 with the stti Fiedmnn Lemâite-Robetson Wlke (FLRW) meti ds 2 = dt 2 + k 2 d 2 + 2( dθ 2 +sin 2 θdφ 2) leds to the identifition tht k. Sine ou input ws only the flt ottion uve nd we hve not onsideed nything egding osmologil sptil uvtue while deiving the meti, the ppene of D in the meti element is quite inteesting. The solution thus my be thought of dk mtte indued spe-time embedded in stti FLRW meti. In genel l 0 nd hene is not equl to 2, nd the intepettion of sptil uvtue does not seem t ll evident. An immedite question is how sptilly uved FLRW univese ould be stti. If it is due to blne of the uvtue tem by some othe fluid with eqution of stte ρ = 3p, the question of stbility will ise. It seems tht we hve ended up with stti univese beuse ight fom the beginning we looked fo stti solution (ll the meti element e onsideed time independent). While woking on lol poblem (flt ottion uve), the univese is usully onsideed t ny ptiul epoh fixing the sle fto R(t) to be onstnt (often nomlized to unity,r(t 0 ) = t the pesent epoh). The 0 K00 2#0-33 4#0-33 6#0-33 8#0-33 D FIG. : The vition of ω with D fo typil distne = 200 in Kp. dynmiity of the FLRW meti is thus bsent in lol gvittionl phenomen. Howeve, we see in the pesent wok tht the uvtue effet hs ppeed even in lol gvittionl phenomen. It would etinly be n inteesting but hllenging tsk to study the stbility iteion in this onfigution 7. We eseve it fo septe ommunition. (d) The eqution of stte pmete ω fo the effetive fluid (dk mtte plus uvtue fluid ), n be obtined dietly fom Eqs.(0) nd (), whih is given by p ρ = ω = l 2 +D(+l)(4+4l l 2 ) l(4 l) D(6 l)(+l)(4+4l l 2 )/(2+l). (2) Sine l is smll, effetively ω l2 +4D 4l 2D. If the totl mtte in the flt ottion uve egion of glxies hs to be nonexoti, i.e. if the dk mtte stisfies the known enegy onditions, ω fo the totl mtte ontent must be positive. This is hieved only if we set l 2 /4 < D < l /3. Note tht ou disussion is estited only in the egion of flt ottion uve of glxies fo whih is typilly between few ten kp to few hunded kp nd s mentioned ledy v φ is few hunded km/s. Hene positive ω implies tht D is nely zeo, if not extly. Figue shows tht vition of ω with D fo typil distne = 200 kp ndv φ = 300 km/s. As my be seen fom the figue, the limit on D is muh stingent omped to the (osmologil) obsevtionl estition. The eqution of stte of the dk mtte omponent my be obtined by tking 0 in the bove eqution whih
4 gives ω = l (4 l) (3) Thus p << ρ fo dk mtte implying its non-eltivisti ntue, whih is well known ft. Futhe ω is positive, whih mens tht the fluid is non-exoti. On the othe hnd, the eqution of stte of uvtue fluid is found to beρ+3p = 0 fom Eq.(2) in the limit l 0, whih is fmili esult. (e) Note tht we n ewite e λ in the stndd Shwzshild fom e λ = 2m() (4) whih is often onvenient. Suh fom hs the dvntge tht it immeditely evels not only the mss pmete m() but lso shows tht the pope dil length is lge thn the Euliden length beuse > 2m(). But most impotntly, this inequlity is essentil fo signtue potetion, whih dittes tht e λ >. This is uil ondition to be stisfied by ny vlid meti. Now, fom the meti funtion (9), fo 0, we get e λ = + 4l l2 4 >. (5) This implies tht the essentil equiement is fulfilled fo this vlue ofd. (f) Let us ewite the meti () fo 0 unde the dil esling =, (6) whih yields ds 2 = B 0 l dt 2 +d 2 + ( ) 2 (dθ 2 +sin 2 θdφ 2 ), R FIG. 2: The vition of R with in Kp fo smll diffeent vlues of D. We hoose v φ 0 3 (300km/s) fo typil glxy. gows s 0 6 in units of flt sufe e, whih indites nothe devition fom the mssless sl model in whih it gows s (g) The Rii sl fo the deived spetime is given by R = D2 (4+l) (D+ )(l 2 +2l+4) (20) As l 0, R = 6D, one gin suggesting tht D is the sptil uvtue. We plotrvs. One my note tht the vlue of R is smll. Fo smll diffeent vlues of D, one n not distinguish the vitions of R with espet to ( see figue 2 ). But fo highe vlues of D, figue 3 shows shp vition of R. Note tht lge vlues of D imply ω() < 0, i.e., dk mtte hs to be exoti in ntue. B 0 = B 0 ( ) l (7) III. This is n inteesting esult, whih distinguishes itself fom tht in the mssless sl field model whees sv φ = 4. Fo typil ottionl veloity ofv φ = 0 3 in the glti hlo egion, the diffeene of the two sufe es S 2 S = 4π 2 2(v φ ) 2 (v φ ) 4 +2(v φ ) 2 (v φ ) 4 (9) A. The totl gvittionl enegy: One notes fom eqution (2) tht the hlo mtte is not exoti in ntue nd onsequently, we expet tttive gvity in the hlo. Following the suggestion given by Lyndell - Bell et l 8, we lulte the totl gvittionl enegye G between two fixed dii, sy, nd 2 : 2 E G = M E M = 4π 2 = 4π + D e λ() ρ 2 d (2) 8πG ( D( ) +2 + ( ) ) 2 2 d, (22)

fo test ptile tht hs been pled t some dius 0. This yields the dil eqution d 2 2 = 2 + D ( D + + D ) 2 ( d ) 2 ( ) 2 dt +B 0 l l whih is negtive s the the quntity in the sque bket is positive. Thus ptiles e ttted towds the ente. This esult is in geement with the obsevtions i.e., gvity on the glti sle is tttive ( lusteing, stutue fomtion et ). C. Stbility: Let us define the fou veloityu α = dxσ fo test ptile moving solely in the spe of the hlo (estiting ouselves to θ = π/2), the equtiong νσ U ν U σ = m 2 0 n be st in Newtonin fom ( ) 2 d = E 2 +V() (28) whih gives { E 2 V() = l + } D B D (27), = 0 ) (+ L2 2 (29) E = U 0 m 0,L = U 3 m 0, (30) whee the onstnts E nd L, espetively, e the onseved eltivisti enegy nd ngul momentum pe unit est mss of the test ptile. Ciul obits e defined by = R =onstnt. so tht dr dv = 0 nd, dditionlly, d =R= 0. Fom these two onditions follow the onseved pmetes: l L = ± 2 l R (3) nd using it in V(R) = E 2, we get 2B0 E = ± 2 l R l 2. (32) The obits will be stble if d2 V d 2 =R < 0 nd unstble if d 2 V d 2 =R > 0. Putting the expessions fo L nd E in d 2 V d 2 =R, we obtin, fte stightfowd lultions, the finl esult, viz., d 2 V 2l( 2l) d 2 =R= (2 l)r 2 + D(6l+8l2 4l 3 +2l 4 ) (2 l)(2+l) 2 (33) One my note tht, fo 0 s well s fo D 0, d 2 V d 2 =R < 0. So the iul obits e lwys stble. R l(2 l) 2+l IV. CONCLUSIONS: It is well known tht obsevtion of flt ottion uve suggests tht substntil mount of non-luminous dk mtte is hidden in the glti hlo. Hee we hve found tht the flt ottion uve suggests lso the bkgound geomety of the univese. The spe-time geomety we hve obtined n be intepeted s the one due to dk mtte embedded in the stti FLRW univese. This is pobbly the fist indition tht the sptil uvtue of the univese n be obtined fom lol gvittionl phenomenon. If we demnd tht mtte in the flt ottion uve egion be non-exoti (i.e., obey the usul enegy onditions), we obtin the esult tht the univese should be nely flt, if not extly so, whih is onsistent with moden osmologil obsevtions. The eqution of stte of the dk mtte omponent hs been obtined by teting it s pefet fluid nd the expessions fo genel eltivisti oetion tems fo the pessue nd enegy density ove those obtined fom the Newtonin theoy e lso deived. The oetions e, howeve, smll s expeted. The geodesi eqution Eq.(26) of test ptile in the deived spetime suggests tht the ptile will be ttted towds the ente. We hve quntified the tttive effet in the eltivisti se by lulting the totl gvittionl enegye G ( whih is negtive ) in the hlo egion. We hve lso demonstted the stbility of the iul obits in ou spetime solution. Thus ou solution stisfies two uil physil equiements - stbility of iul obits nd tttive gvity in the hlo egion. Investigtion on othe obsevtionl onstints on the model is undewy. Aknowledgments The uthos e thnkful to n nonymous efeee fo his/he insightful omments tht hve led to signifint impovements, ptiully on the intepettionl spets. These imply the following expessions fo the enegy nd totl momentum of the ptiles in iul obits: 2e 2ν() E 2 = 2e ν() (e ν() ) L 2 = 3 (e ν() ) 2e ν() (e ν() ). Using the tngentil veloity to be onstnt fo sevel dii, the bove expession yields e ν = B 0 l whee l is given by l = 2(v φ ) 2 nd B 0 is n integtion onstnt. Refeenes G. Betone, D. Hoope, nd J.
