8 (4) INTRODUCTION The block lies in the eastern side of the central part of the Gulf of Suez basin north and south of BP Ramadan, SB and Morgan fields. Northeast Ramadan block occupies an area of about 219 km 2 and has 000 km 2D seismic lines and 00 3D seismic, it comprises 5 (five) wells. EXPLORATION HISTORY: Exploration history dates back to 1970 when Amoco acquired the area. The wells were drilled in the block subsequently by Amoco, Deminex and BP. The zones of interest are the Lower-Middle Miocene, Nazzazat group and Nubian sandstones. Summary of the Wells: SB well (1984) SB 284-1well was recommended to test a separate Pre-Miocene closure 3 km south of thegs277-1kareem discovery and 8.5 km north of the Ramadan oil field. The closure is represented by an easterly dipping Pre-Miocene fault block bounded to the west by a north-south striking fault zone and by cross faults to the north and south. Primary Objectives were Nazzazat group and Nubia sandstones. The well encountered the Pre-Miocene reservoir (main objective) low to prognosis because of the unexpected complete Pre-Miocene section. Oil Shows: Good oil shows observed in the Matulla, Wata sandstones and Basement. Five intervals were evaluated from logs to be the best oil bearing sandstones and tested (13720'-13710', 13700'-13090', 13653'-13643', 13560' ', 13476'-13460'). SB well established deep oil water contact ( ft subsea) up-grade the Pre-Miocene prospectively of the surrounding area. The well tested 684 BOPD of API from Matulla Formation. 1

9 Status: the well was plugged and abandoned as a non-commercial oil well. GS well (1980) The primary objectives were Belayim carbonates and Nubian sandstone. The well was drilled directly from Lower Rudeis into Basement. Fair oil staining in the Kareem and poor oil staining in the Rudeis are shown while drilling. The well reached a total depth of 8,165 in Basement, it plugged and abandoned as a dry hole. KK 86-1A well (1980) Structure: KK-86 prospect is separated from the Ramadan structure by a deep narrow NW- SE trending syncline. On its western side of the structure is bounded by a normal down to the west fault. It is believed that Matulla lies in a transition zone and that an oil column may exist in an adjacent up thrown block, i.e. to the east of KK 86-1A, where they can be expected to lie above the local contact, where Nubia "A" & Other Cretaceous reservoirs would be good objective Source Rocks: Thebes & Brown Limestone are mature good quality source rocks. The nature of kerogen in both is an intermediate type II-III kerogen. Kareem contains type II Kerogen and considered as having some potential for oil and gas. All others can be classified as type III Kerogens. Gas and/or Gasoline source rocks have been encountered in the lower section of Rudeis Formation (10,200'-10,950'), in the Thebes Formation (11,250'-11,400') and in the Brown Limestone Formation (11,750'). Results: The primary objectives were Paleozoic & Nubian sandstone while the secondary objective was Upper Cretaceous Sandstone. KK 86-1A was drilled in a proven oil productive area. Fair oil shows in Matulla sandstone streaks. The well reached a total depth of 12,339 in Nubia sandstone, so, it plugged and abandoned as a dry hole. 2
