The Lower Cretaceous Captain, Coracle and Punt sands are potential reservoir targets in the area and many exploration areas may include one or all of these as multiple targets. 2. Upper Jurassic Ross and Burns sands are key reservoir targets in the area. Block 12/30 is located along strike of the Dee discovery and the Ross field which lie on the footwall of the adjacent fault blocks along the Buckie Ridge toward the east 3. Lower Jurassic Beatrice sands form the reservoir for the Beatrice field, the most prolific field in the Inner Moray Firth located to the west. 4. Permian Rotliegendes is the main reservoir for the 13/28d Cob discovery with potential in adjacent footwall faults blocks on the Buckie Ridge. This reservoir may allow for an additional target for many shallower level prospects. Source & Migration Hydrocarbons are likely to be sourced predominantly from the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation. In addition, there may be a component of sourcing from a higher risk, poorly understood Devonian source interval. Migration through the extensive sand networks and along major faults is expected. The kitchen area is to the south in the Banff sub-basin which is proven to be mature by the adjacent fields. Seal Seal lithologies are likely to be present throughout the section. A greater risk exists on breaching of fault traps during later periods of structural reactivation during the Tertiary period of basin inversion. Cromer knoll claystones and shales as well as extensive shales such as the extensive Kimmeridge Clay may provide regional seals

This trapping style is identified for both the Lower Cretaceous sand packages and for the deeper reservoirs. 2. Stratigraphic trapping geometries exist for both the Lower Cretaceous and Upper Jurassic target levels where sand bodies such as the Punt Sst may pinch-out. Exploration Activities Several prospects exist on-block and in the surrounding vicinity: The Spey Prospect is on a central horst block with dip closure to the east and stratigraphic closure to the south and west. The structure is fault bounded to the north. The Kimmeridge Clay Formation and Lower Cretaceous on the terrace to the north of the Spey Prospect have not been tested by a well. The Findhorn lead is mapped on the northern terrace which is poorly imaged by current 2D seismic coverage. However there is a suggestion that there has been rotation and that the BCU dips back to the south. This indicates that the Upper Jurassic Claymore and Lower Cretaceous Punt sands could be present. Gas is expected in the Punt as observed in 13/26a-2 with oil in the Claymore as seen in 13/27a-4 and 13/26a-2.
