8 Petroleum System Petroleum System Elements & Hydrocarbon Plays Basin: The area lies in Southern central province of the GOS near the South- Belayim trough. Sources: The principal source rock is almost certainly the pre-rift, Campanian Brown Limestone, Thebes limestone and the deep marine syn-rift Miocene Rudeis shales, have probably contributed also. Reservoirs: The main reservoirs in West Amer block is mainly the Miocene and L. Miocene age (Belayim Nullipore, Kareem, Rudeis & Nukhul Fms) in addition to Pre Miocene age (Thebes and Matulla Fms). Seal: Main vertical seal is Anhydrites & Salts of South Gharib Fm in addition to the shales of Rudeis & Kareem Formations. Trap Mechanism: The Block have mainly structure trap rotated Tilted fault block and horst block, in addition to stratigraphic element Red Beds Patches
