2 International Conference will be organized under the auspiecies of: Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Geology, VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava prof. Ing. Hodonín Objectives of the Conference: The Conference will be concentrated on the evaluation of special methods of deposit utilization in practice, on the alternative possibility of utilizing prospect bore holes, or negative bore holes (dry wells) and depleted deposit spaces. The view of the Conference has been chosen with regard to solving of these problems within the framework of grant-projects by the above-mentioned institutes. Main Topics: Geotechnical mining methods of mineral raw materials using the surface bore holes. Secondary producing methods applied at hydrocarbon deposits. Waste deposition in worked out (depleted) deposits. Production effect on environment. Completion of production activity at depleted mineral deposits, issue of redevelopment. Modelling and evalution of coal deposits foundation for their utilization. Additional Possibilities of Presentation: Possibilities of CO 2 geosequestration. Experiences in coal methane exploitation by surface bore-holes and methane exploitation from abandoned old mining areas (abandoned workings). Possibilities of utilization of negative bore holes (dry wells); (e. g. geothermal energy, deposition...). Building and operation of underground gas storages. Utilization of renewable energy resources. Ecological and safety aspects of the well abandonance, area redevelopment and reclamation. 3 Basic Information: Date and Location: The conference will be held at Institute of Geonics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Ostrava - Poruba, on September 9 11 (13), (September 12, 13 technical excursions adressed especially to foreign participants) Language: Official languages of the conference are Czech, English, Polish and Russian - simultaneous interpreting will be provided. Accommodation and Boarding: Accommodation and boarding will be reserved in the campus of VŠB-TU Ostrava. Preliminary Programme: Sept. 9 in the afternoon - registration and lodging of participants; Sept. 10 registration, opening the Conference, sessions, presentation of posters and firm stalls; in the evening unofficial social party (meeting); Sept. 11 in the morning - sessions, evaluation and conclusion of the Conference; in the afternoon - for interested persons the following visits are posssible: small and large thermal polygon + heat pumps, the Pošepný Geological Museum (campus of VŠB Technical University); the Silesian Geophysical Observatory of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Racibórz. Observatory was set in 1927 and it is still in operation. The Observatory holds also an exposition of historical seismological equipment; Important Deadlines: sending of preliminary registration form and registration of papers (it s possible to send max. one page abstract in the one of the official languages) March 30, 2009 confirmation of accepted papers April 15, nd Circular April 30, 2009 sending of obligatory registration forms May 30, 2009 sending of full texts of accepted papers June 30, 2009 delivering of posters September 9, 2009 Proceedings: Accepted papers (max. 5 pages including supplements) will be published in Scientific Papers of the Silesian University of Technology - Series: Mining. Presentation of Commercial Firms and Other Institutions: Presentation of activities results and advertising materials of commercial firms, budgetary and contributory organizations will be an important part of the Conference. Registration Fee: Presumable registration fee will be about 150 EUR It covers: entrance fee, conference materials (proceedings), advertising materials, participation in the excursion (September 11, 2009), participation in the Party, refreshments in the course of sessions, two dinners.
