Calcium chloride (used to melt ice in the winter)? - The combination of atoms gives rise to molecules or compounds. - Compounds are NOT elements but rather the combination of elements. - Compounds are formed based on the number of electrons on the element s outer most shell. - Recall: Family Electrons on outer most shell Will likely to gain / lose electrons?
