1 Science 24 Study Guide Final Exam June 2013 Those students writing the exam in two parts, Unit A & B will be written on Thursday, June 20th from 8:45am - 12:00pm in Room #165 (Sports Medicine Room). Units C & D will be written on Monday, June 24th from 8:45am - 12:00pm. Room TBA. Those students writing the exam in one part will write on Monday, June 24th from 8:45am - TBA. Room TBA. Unit A: Matter & Chemical Change Lesson 1 - Useful Chemistry (pages 4-19 in text) explain how synthetic chemicals are used today and provide examples; explain how soap & water are able to clean grease; explain what a polyme r is and provide an example; explain what an alloy is and provide an example; provide advantages to using alloys and polymers. Lesson 2 - Common Reactions in Our Lives (pages in text) define the term chemical reaction ; identify indicators of chemical change; understand what a combustion reaction and neutralization reaction is; define the term precipitate ; provide examples of an exothermic reaction ; provide examples of an endothermic reaction ; Lesson 3 - Types of Chemical Reactions (pages in text) write word equations for chemical reactions; understand what a simple composition reaction is; understand what a simple decomposition reaction is; understand what happens in a combustion reaction ; understand what happens in a neutralization reaction ; determine chemical names for compounds; balance chemical equations.
