School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Tianjin University of Technology Tianjin China Abstract: The types of nano iron oxides and their adsorption activities for heavy metal are summarized. The common methods for preparation and modification of nano iron oxides are introduced and the key factors affecting the adsorption process of heavy metals are discussed. The research directions of nano iron oxides in water environment protection are prospected such as developing green and efficient process for nano iron oxides preparation investigating the effects of structure control and surface functionalization on adsorption activities of nano iron oxides and so on.
