2 6.NS.6c Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.

3 6.NS.6c In 6 th grade, students use fractions, decimals, and integers to represent real-world situations. They extend the number line to represent all rational numbers and recognize that number lines may be either horizontal or vertical which helps sixth graders move from number lines to coordinate grids. Many students struggle with understanding the value of rational numbers and how to place them on a number line, comparing integers, and plotting coordinates on a coordinate plane. To help students with this, we have created some review problems that can help you target this difficulty. There are 3 types of problems included in this set: placing rational numbers on a number line, ordering rational numbers, and plotting points on a coordinate plane. The following 10 slides contain problems that are meant to be used as a Problem of the Day on a daily basis. To see a sample of a POD classroom structure, watch this video: Sample POD.
