1 AIM HIGH SCHOOL Curriculum Map W. 12 Mile Road Farmington Hills, MI (248) COURSE TITLE: Algebra 1 PREREQUISITES: Pre-Algebra DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: Algebra 1 focuses on the operations associated with linear and quadratic equations. The course starts off with a review of basic algebraic concepts, such as variables, order of operations, exponents, and problem solving skills. By the end of this course students will have the knowledge necessary to solve and graph equations and inequalities. Students will also be able to apply this knowledge to other areas of math, such as word problems, ratios, and proportions. Paced Algebra 1 is another option for students who may need an additional year to complete the course curriculum. Every student should understand and use all concepts and skills from the previous grade levels. The standard is designed so that new learning builds on preceding skills.
