2 Continuum The Power of Attraction Each hand made jewelry piece elegantly symbolizes the undeniable force and pull (power) of attraction of one person to another, expressed in a classical yet contemporary design. Continuum is an imaginative extension of this trajectory of celestial beauty in design, and is in part inspired by the work of the Bauhaus. The concave dome-like pieces in this series are meant to evoke the magnetic power of black holes. Crafted from laser cut stainless steel discs, each dome shape is hammered by hand with the use of a dapping block. The amazing diamond dust infused black concrete pieces are set into stainless steel and evoke a velvety blackness interwoven with the illumination of stars, a jeweled net of infinite beauty forming monumentally conceived yet wearable works of art. 02 Ligo Major $ Ligo KONZUK jewelry appeals to design-centric audiences around the world. Featured in the Through a studied use of clean lines and an unwavering commitment to a minimalist aesthetic, KONZUK has become the internationally renowned modern line of hand crafted jewelry for the contemporary design lover. Heralded by Dwell Magazine as wearable architecture, KONZUK s designs mirror the heroic restraint of modernist architectural practice, while marrying balance with minimal form each piece is artfully constructed from the meaningful use of industrial materials. Most recently, the designer s move to the west coast has brought the majestic western sky into the forefront of the designs, incorporating motifs from astronomy, nocturnal views, and the timeless ritual of stargazing. The play of duality in the steel and concrete jewelry reflects the way in which the two astronomical bodies gravitational attraction creates an orbit. KONZUK s newest lines Stellar and Continuum uniquely combine an architectonic approach with a renewed interest in the natural world, allowing the poetics of astronomy and the constellations of the night sky to emerge reflected in the seemingly deep wells of black concrete. prestigious volume Masters of Jewelry Design, 2013, recent international collaborations include Sir Paul Smith s flagship stores in New York and Los Angeles, as well as an exhibit at ICFF NYC 2016 and 2017, with Design Milk. Select shows include LOOT, The Museum of Arts and Design, New York, 2016, and RED + WHITE, Canada House, London, As well, KONZUK has received various awards and honors including the Jewelry Design Award from the A Design Award Event, Como, Italy, 2014 and top honors in Fashion and Jewelry, Western Living s Designer of the Year. The designer was also short-listed for the design of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic medals, and has recently developed production approved prototypes for a unique line of concrete hardware for Schwinn, Germany. 01 Freya Major $195 / Juno Minor Ring 01

11 The Designer Karen Konzuk BRACELETS / RINGS 24 Quadra $ Quadra Minor $ Castor $190 My goal is for others to share an appreciation for the beauty and intrigue of industrial materials in jewelry design. Karen Konzuk Karen Konzuk creates jewelry that is more wearable architecture than simple accessory. The designer holds her BFA, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Jewelry Design and Art History and brings to her creations, a foundation in traditional precious metals and a unique sense of experimentation leading to her work in stainless Ligo Major $ Quadra $ Ligo $ Juno Major $ Juno Minor steel. The designer is above all, a consummate explorer and this material has required a deep understanding of unusual tools and manufacturing methods. The polymath s inspirations are many, and yet come together to form a language of design that incorporates not only the legacy of modernism, but also the systems of the natural world. The designer points out a special affinity for the work of László Moholy-Nagy, particularly the inventive yet distilled geometry of forms, and the deeply felt engagement with materials. She shares her admiration for the work of contemporary artist Richard Serra, and that a trip to the Contemporary Art Museum in Montreal led to the Concrete Collection, and how the wellreceived Vent Collection was inspired by a seminal visit to Donald Judd s work in Marfa, Texas.
