AN OUTSTANDING -18 FOR DUKE Duke was the only athletic department in the country during the -18 school year to win a football bowl game and send both men s and women s basketball programs to the NCAA Round of 16. Brown finished his rookie year tied for second in rushing touchdowns by a Duke freshman with seven. Redshirt junior quarterback Daniel Jones also has scored a rushing touchdown in five consecutive games. During the entire campaign, the Blue Devils had just two games with two or more passes covering 35+ yards. RECENT RED ZONE SUCCESS Duke reached the red zone five times against Army West Point and scored on all five opportunities. In the last five games, the Blue Devils have made 27 red zone trips and scored points on 25 of those visits (.926). In the previous four contests, Duke converted six-of-eight trips (.750). POINTS IN EVERY QUARTER Duke scored in every quarter last Friday against Army West Point, pushing its streak of consecutive frames with a point to 17. The Blue Devils last scoreless quarter was the third at Army West Point on November 11,. JONES INTERCEPTION FREE AGAIN Jones turned in an interception-free game against Army West Point and has been picked off in just one of his last four contests after throwing an interception in six straight games from September 29-November 11,. IMPRESSIVE START FOR JONES Jones led off the season with a passing efficiency rating of against Army West Point. The performance was nearly onthe top-10 single game chart in Duke history and was his highest efficiency rating in a contest since a mark against N.C. Central in his first career start, September 3, Against Army West Point, Jones had four incomplete passes and just one in the second half, on his first attempt of the third quarter. Jones ended the game completing his final five passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Troy Duke...4 Tied with six others...4 NEW OFFENSIVE LINE STARTERS For the first time since 2009, Duke is breaking in three new starters along the offensive line, replacing the graduated Gabe Brandner (left tackle), Austin Davis (center) and Evan Lisle (right tackle). Filling those shoes are left tackle Christian Harris, center Zach Harmon and right tackle Robert Kraeling. Harmon shifts from right guard, where he started the last two years, to center with Rakavius Chambers sliding in at guard. The group held up against Army West Point, allowing just one sack, zero holding penalties and one false start. The three are the only scholarship true freshmen offensive linemen to play in the Cutcliffe era. 3 RAHMING IN TOP FOUR NATIONALLY Senior T.J. Rahming led Duke with five receptions last Friday against Army West Point. His five receptions gave him eight consecutive games with three or more catches. JACKSON FINDS THE END ZONE Sophomore running back Deon Jackson scored his first career touchdown in the third quarter with a seven-yard run. Jackson also rushed for a career-high 25 yards. He had not reached 20 rushing yards since week two against in. Following spring practice, he shared Most Improved Offensive Player honors with OT Robert Kraeling. BROWN HITS 75 GROUND YARDS Brown finished his debut with 75 rushing yards, good for the fifth game of his career reaching the 75-yard plateau. WAREHAM DRILLS ALL SIX KICKS Fifth-year senior Collin Wareham made his Duke debut against Army West Point and converted all six placement kicks with two field goals and four extra points. Wareham, a three-year letterman at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., graduated from Duke in May,, with a degree in economics and is pursuing a master s degree in management studies. Wareham enters Saturday s game tied with Andre Szmyt of Syracuse and Greg Huegel of for the most made field goals in the ACC. Wareham s two field goals also are tied for the 12th most nationally. HUMPHREYS SWATS ASIDE A FIELD GOAL For the second consecutive year, Duke blocked a field goal in the fourth quarter against Army West Point. Last Friday, senior linebacker Ben Humphreys knocked aside a 45-yard try. A year ago at West Point, redshirt senior defensive tackle Mike Ramsay tallied the block on a 20-yard attempt. Duke was one of 22 FBS programs to register a blocked kick during the opening weekend. NO FIELD GOALS ALLOWED Army West Point did not convert on either field goal attempt against Duke. Since the start of the season, opponents are just nine-of-15 (.600) in field goal conversions versus the Blue Devils.
