2 «I» Tishreen University Journal for Research and Scientific Studies - Biological Sciences Series Vol. (0) No. () 008 A Taxonomic Study of the Sub-Order (Insecta: Odonata) on the Syrian Coast I M. S. Shiha * Dr. S. E. Ihsan * * Dr. A. M. Ramadan *** (Received / / 008. Accepted /6/٢٠٠٨) ABSTRACT In this study, 0 specimens were collected from locations on the Syrian coast during Morphological and taxonomical aspects of collected specimens have been studied. Identification Keys of families, genera, and species were recorded according to the most important taxonomic features. A total of thirteen species belonging to eleven genera and five families are recorded and classified, and these are; Calopteryx splendens intermedia, Calopteryx hyalina, Epallage fatime, Sympecma fusca, Lestes viridis parvidens, Platycnemis dealbata, Ischnura elegans ebneri, Coenagrion lindeni zernyi, Coenagrion scitulum, Coenagrion puella syriaca, Ceriagrion tenellum georfreyi, Erythromma viridulum orientale, Enallagma ciathigerum and Pseudagrion syriacum. The fellowing species Lestes viridis parvidens, Coenagrion lindeni zernyi and Coenagrion scitulum could be considered the first ever recorded in Syria.
