1 Pretty Ballerinas is a brand of ballerinas and flat shoes launched in February 2005 via its own website PrettyBallerinas.com. Although the name is relatively new, the shoes have been made in the same village on the Mediterranean island of Menorca by the same family since Each shoe shape is named after a female screen or music legend to help customers remember which shape suits them best. Pretty Ballerinas opened its first boutique at 34 Brook Steet in Mayfair, London in February 2007, followed by stores in Belgravia and Threadneedle Street in The City Of London. The year after saw the first retail outlets in continental Europe, with two stores being opened in "Barrio Salamanca", the most famous shopping district of Madrid. The first stores in North America were opened to great fanfare in autumn 2009 in Montreal, Canada and at 1034 Lexington Avenue in New York. Since then the brand has expanded very quickly, opening stores in Madison Avenue in New York, Beverly Hills, Via Della Spiga in Milan, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bankok, Sydney, Istanbul, Sao Paolo, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Bogota, Mexico City, Santiago de Chile, Johannesburg, Panama, Barcelona, Madrid, Kula Lumpur, Dubai: a current total of 77 stores in 28 countries. Pretty Ballerinas have appeared in many fashion magazines, especially when celebrities such as the international supermodels Kate Moss, Elle MacPherson and Claudia Schiffer have been photographed wearing them. Other celebrities photographed wearing Pretty Ballerinas include Angelina Jolie, Lindsay Lohan, Lily Allen, Katherine Heigl, Kylie Minogue and Kelly Osborne. In 2009 Pretty Ballerinas launched its young princess collection versions of its ballerinas aimed at the younger customer. Not surprisingly, the daughters of the celebrity customers also started to wear Pretty Ballerinas;- the daughters of Claudia Schiffer, Angelina Jolie and Kate Moss, in fact Pretty Ballerinas were selected as the bridal footwear for all sixteen bridesmaids when Kate Moss married Jamie Hince in August Pretty Ballerinas is known for its huge array of styles and colours and the unusual way materials are combined. The stores are designed like tiny chocolate boxes with signature details of French antique gilt mirrors and chandeliers, pink shelving and leopard print sofas.
