COWEN-DOUGLAS FUNCTION AND ITS APPLICATION ON CHAOS LVLIN LUO arxiv: v1 [math.fa] 9 Dec 2017 Abstract. In this paper we define Cowen-Douglas function introduced by Cowen-Douglas operator on Hardy space H 2 (D) and get that for any given z 0 D, if the rooter function of a m-folder complex analytic function at z 0 is a outer function, then is a Cowen-Douglas function, that is, the adjoint multiplier M B m( (D)), where D = { z < 1;z C}, H (D) and B m ( (D)) is the set of all Cowen-Douglas operator determined by (D). Moreover, we give some application of Cowen-Douglas function on chaos, such as application on the inverse chaos problem for the operator class of λ+at n, whereλ,a CandT isthebackwardshiftoperatoronl 2 (N), i.e.,t(x 1,x 2, ) = (x 2,x 3, ). 1. Introduction If X is a metric space and T is a continuous self-map on X, then the pair (X,T) is called a topological dynamic system, which is induced by the iteration T n = } T T {{}, n N. n If the metric space X and the continuous self-map T are both linear, then the topological dynamic system (X, T) is named linear dynamic. Especially, if T is a continuous invertible self-map on X, then (X, T) is named invertible dynamic. Similarly, for a Banach space B, if T is a invertible bounded linear operator on B, then the invertible dynamic (X, T) is named invertible linear dynamic. Also, to study the chaos theory of invertible linear dynamic we named that is inverse chaos problem. For invertible dynamic, the relationship between (X,f) and (X,f 1 ) is raised by Stockman as an open question[3]. And [14, 7] and [13] give counter examples for Li-Yorke chaos on noncompact spaces and compact spaces, respectively. However, there is no generally way for this research. Hardy space H 2 (D) is a special Hilbert space that is relatively nice, not only for theoretical but also for computing through complex analytic functions. Because of any separable infinite-dimension Hilbert space are isomorphic, to construct some symbol operators on Hardy space to study the inverse chaos problem may be a good idea. 2 2 LVLIN LUO In this paper we give some properties about adjoint multiplier operators on H 2 (D). We define Cowen-Douglas function introduced by Cowen-Douglas operator, andget that forany given z 0 D, if therooterfunction ofam-folder complex analytic function at z 0 is a outer function, then is a Cowen-Douglas function, that is, the adjoint multiplier M B m( (D)), where B m ( (D)) is the set of all Cowen-Douglas operator determined by (D). In the last, we give some application of Cowen-Douglas function on chaos, such as application on the inverse chaos problem for the operator class of λ + at n, where λ,a C and T is the backward shift operator on L 2 (N), i.e., T(x 1,x 2, ) = (x 2,x 3, ). 2. Some properties of Hardy space and chaos Firstly, we give some properties of Hardy space. For D = {z C, z < 1}, if g is an complex analytic function on D and there is sup r<1 π π g(re iθ ) 2 dθ < +, then we denote g H 2 (D). Obviously, H 2 (D) is a Hilbert space with the norm g 2 H 2 = sup r<1 π π g(re iθ ) 2 dθ 2π, and H 2 (D) is denoted as Hardy space. For any given complex analytic function g, we get the Taylor expansion g(z) = + n=0 so the relation between g H 2 (D) and + a n z n, a 2 n n=0 < + are naturally equivalent. Let T = D, if H 2 (T) denoted the closed span of Taylor expansions of functions in L 2 (T), then H 2 (T) is a closed subspace of L 2 (T). From the naturally isomorphic of H 2 (D) and H 2 (T) by the properties of analytic function, we denote H 2 (T) also as Hardy space. Let H (D) denote the set of all bounded complex analytic function on D, and H (T) denote the closed span of Taylor expansions of functions in L (T). Then we get that H (D) and H (T) are naturally isomorphic by the properties of complex analytic functions [5]P55P97 and the Dirichlet Problem [5]P103. For any given H (D), it is easy to get that = sup{ (z) ; z < 1} is a norm on H (D). And for any given g H 2 (D), the multiplication operator M (g) = g associated with H (D) is a bounded linear operator, and on H 2 (D) we get M (g) g H 2. By [10]P6 we get that any Cauchy sequence with the norm H 2 on H 2 (D) is a uniformly Cauchy sequence on any closed disk in D, in particular,we get that the point evaluations f f(z) are continuous linear functional on H 2 (D),
COWEN-DOUGLAS FUNCTION AND ITS APPLICATION ON CHAOS 3 by the Riesz Representation [10]P13, for any g(s) H 2 (D), there is a unique f z (s) H 2 (D) such that g(z) =< g(s),f z (s) >, and then define this f z is a reproducing kernel at z. There are more properties about Hardy space in [4]P7, [11]P48, [12]P39, [15]P133 and [16]P106. For prepare, we give some definition and properties of chaos on Banach space B, let B(B) denote the set of all bounded linear operator on B. Definition 2.1. Let T B(B), if there exists x B satisfies: (1) lim T n (x) > 0; n (2) lim T n (x) = 0. n Then we say that T is Li-Yorke chaotic, and named x is a Li-Yorke chaotic point of T,where x B,n N. Definition 2.2. For a connected open subset Ω C, n N, let B n (Ω) denote the set of all bounded linear operator T on H that satisfies: (1) Ω σ(t) = {ω C : T ωnot invertible}; (2) ran(t ω) = H for ω Ω; (3) ker ω Ω (T ω) = H; (4) dimker(t ω) = n for ω Ω. If T B n (Ω), then say that T is a Cowen-Douglas operator. Theorem 2.3 ([2]). For a connected open subset Ω C,T B n (Ω), we get (1) If Ω T, then T is Devaney chaotic. (2) If Ω T, then T is distributionally chaotic. (3) If Ω T, then T strong mixing. 3. Cowen-Douglas function on Hardy space In this part, we give the definition of rooter function of a given m-folder complex analytic function on D. Then we define Cowen-Douglas function, and we prove that if the rooter function of a m-folder complex analytic function is a outer function, then the m-folder complex analytic function is a Cowen-Douglas function. Definition 3.1 ([15]P141). Let P(z) be the set of all polynomials about z, where z T. Define a function h(z) H 2 (T) is an outer function if cl[h(z)p(z)] = H 2 (T). Lemma 3.2 ([15]P141). A function h(z) H (T) is invertible on the Banach algebra H (T), if and only if h(z) L (T) and h(z) is an outer function. Theorem 3.3 ([11]P81). Let P(z) be the set of all polynomials about z,where z D. then h(z) H 2 (D) is an outer function if and only if P(z)h(z) = {p(z)h(z);p P(z)} is dense in H 2 (D).
4 LVLIN LUO Let is a non-constant complex analytic function on D, for any given z 0 D, by [5]P29 we get that there exists δ z0 > 0, exists k z0 N, when z z 0 < δ z0, there is (z) (z 0 ) = (z z 0 ) kz 0 hz0 (z) where h z0 (z) is complex analytic on a neighbourhood of z 0 and h z0 (z 0 ) 0. Definition 3.4. Let is a non-constant complex analytic function on D, for any given z 0 D, there exists δ z0 > 0 such that (z) (z 0 ) z z0 <δ z0 = p nz0 (z)h z0 (z) z z0 <δ z0, h z0 (z) is complex analytic on a neighbourhood of z 0 and h z0 (z 0 ) 0, p nz0 (z) is a n z0 -th polynomial and the n z0 -th coefficient is equivalent 1. By the Analytic Continuation Theorem [5]P28, we get that there is a unique complex analytic function h z0 (z) on D such that (z) (z 0 ) = p nz0 (z)h z0 (z), then define h z0 (z) is a rooter function of at the point z 0. If for any given z 0 D, the rooter function h z0 (z) has non-zero point but the roots of p nz0 (z) are all in D and n z0 N is a constant m on D, then define is a m-folder complex analytic function on D. Definition 3.5. Let (z) H (D),n N, M is the multiplication by on H 2 (D). If the adjoint multiplier M B n( (D)), then define is a Cowen- Douglas function. By Definition 3.5 we get that any constant complex analytic function is not a Cowen-Douglas function Theorem 3.6. Let (z) H (D) be a m-folder complex analytic function, M is the multiplication by on H 2 (D). If for any given z 0 D, the rooter functions of at z 0 is a outer function, then is a Cowen-Douglas function, that is, the adjoint multiplier M B m( (D)). Proof. By the definition of m-folder complex analytic function Definition 3.4 we get that is not a constant complex analytic function. For any given z D, let f z H 2 (D) be the reproducing kernel at z. We confirm that M is valid the conditions of Definition 2.2 one by one. (1) For any given z D, f z is an eigenvector of M with associated eigenvalue λ = (z).because for any g H 2 (D) we get < g,m (f z) > H 2=< g,f z > H 2= (z)f(z) =< g, (z)f z > H 2 By the Riesz Representation Theorem[10]P13 of bounded linear functional in the form of inner product on Hilbert space, we get M (f z) = (z)f z = λf z, that is, f z is an eigenvector of M with associated eigenvalueλ = (z). (2) For any given λ (D), because of 0 H (D), we get that the multiplication operator M λ is injection by the properties of complex analysis, hence ker(m λ) = 0.
Because of COWEN-DOUGLAS FUNCTION AND ITS APPLICATION ON CHAOS 5 H 2 (D) = ker(m λ) = cl[ran(m λ)], we get that ran(m λ) is a second category space. By [10]P305 we get that M λ is a closed operator, also by [10]P93 or [17]P97 we get (3) Suppose that ran(m λ) = H 2 (D). 1 span{f z ;z (D)} = span{ ;z (D)} 1 zs is not dense in H 2 (D), by 0 H (D) and the definition of reproducing kernel f z, we get that there exists 0 g H 2 (D), for any given z D, we have 0 =< g, (z)f z > H 2= (z)g(z) =< (z)g(z),f z > H 2. So we get g = 0 by the Analytic Continuation Theorem [5]P28, that is a contradiction for g 0. Therefor we get that span{f z ;z (D)} is dense in H 2 (D), that is, ker λ (D) (M λ) = H 2 (D). (4)ByDefinition3.4andtheconditionsofthistheorem, foranygivenλ (D), there exists z 0 D, exists m-th polynomial p m (z) and outer function h(z) such that (z) λ = (z) (z 0 ) = p m (z)h(z), We give dimker(m (z) λ) = m by the following (i)(ii)(iii) assertions. (i) Let the roots of p m (z) are z 0,z 1,,z m 1, then there exists decomposition p m (z) = (z z 0 )(z z 1 ) (z z m 1 ), and denote p m,z0 z 1 z m 1 (z) is the decomposition of p m (z) by the permutation of z 0,z 1,,z m 1, then to get dimkerm p m,z0 z 1 z m 1 = m. By the Taylor expansions of functions in H 2 (T), we get there is a naturally isomorphic F s : H 2 (D) H 2 (D s),f s (g(z)) g(z +s),s C. It is easy to get that G = {F s ;s C} is a abelian group by the composite operation, hence for 0 n m 1,there is H 2 ((D)) F zn H 2 (D z n ) M z zn H 2 ((D)) F zn M z H 2 (D z n ) Let T is the backward shift operator on the Hilbert space L 2 (N), that is, T(x 1,x 2, ) = (x 2,x 3, ).
6 LVLIN LUO With the naturally isomorphic between H 2 (D z n ) and H 2 ( (D z n )), M z is equivalent the backward shift operator T on H 2 ( (D z n )), that is, M z is a surjection and hence M z z n is a surjection and where 0 n m 1. By the composition of dimkerm z = 1, dimkerm z z n = 1, F zm 1 F zm 2 F z0, M pm,z0 z 1 z m 1 is equivalent T m. that is,m pm,z0 z 1 z m 1 is a surjection and hence M p m,z0 z 1 z m 1 is a surjection and dimkerm pm,z0 z 1 z m 1 = m, dimkerm p m,z0 z 1 z m 1 = m. (ii) Because H is a abelian Banach algebra, M pm is independent to the permutation of 1-th factors of p m (z), that is, M p m is independent to the 1-th factors multiplication of p m (z) = (z z 0 )(z z 1 ) (z z m 1 ). Because G = {F s ;s C} is a abelian group by composition operation, for 0 n m 1, F zm 1 F zm 2 F z0 is independent to the permutation of composition. Hence M p m is a surjection and dimkerm p m = dimkerm p m,z0 z 1 z m 1 = m. (iii) By Definition 3.1 and Theorem 3.3, also by [10]P93,[17]P97 and [10]P305 we get that the multiplication operator M h is surjection that associated with the outer function h. Hence we get kerm h(z) = (ranm h(z)) = (H 2 (D)) = 0. Because there exists decomposition M p m(z)h(z) = M h(z) M p m(z) on H2 (D), we get dimker(m λ) = dimkerm p m(z)h(z) = dimkerm p m(z) = m. By (1)(2)(3)(4) we get the adjoint multiplier operator M B m( (D)). By Theorem 3.6 and Lemma 3.2, we get Corollary 3.7. Let H (D) is a m-folder complex analytic function, for any given z 0 D, if the rooter function of at z 0 is invertible in the Banach algebra H (D), then is a Cowen-Douglas function. Especially, for any given n D, if a and b are both non-zero complex, then a+bz n H (D) is a Cowen-Douglas function.
COWEN-DOUGLAS FUNCTION AND ITS APPLICATION ON CHAOS 7 4. Application of Cowen-Douglas function and chaos This part gives some properties about the adjoint multiplier of Cowen-Douglas functions, such as application on the inverse chaos problem for the operator class of λ + at n, where λ,a C and T is the backward shift operator on L 2 (N), i.e.,t(x 1,x 2, ) = (x 2,x 3, ). Theorem 4.1. If H (D) is a Cowen-Douglas function, M is the multiplication by on H 2 (D), Then the following assertions are equivalent (1) M is Devaney chaotic; (2) M is distributionally chaotic; (3) M is strong mixing; (4) M is Li-Yorke chaotic; (5) M is hypercyclic; (6) (D) T. Proof. (i) By [4]P138 we get that M is Devaney chaotic if and only if it is hypercyclic, i.e., is non-constant and (D) T, hence (1) (5) (6). (ii) To get that (6) imply (1)(2)(3)(4). Because H 2 (D) is a Cowen-Douglas function, by Definition 3.5, M B n( (D)). By Theorem 2.3 we get that if (D) T, then (1)(2)(3) is valid. On Banach spaces Devaney chaotic, distributionally chaotic and strong mixing imply Li-Yorke chaotic, respectively. Hence (4) is valid. Because (D) T and (D) T are mutually equivalent, (6) imply (1)(2)(3)(4). (iii) To get that (1)(2)(3)(4) imply (6). By (1)(2)(3) imply (4), respectively, it is enough to get that (4) imply (6). If M is Li-Yorke chaotic, then is non-constant and by [6] theorem3.5 we get hence Moreover, we get Indeed, if we assume that then sup M n, n + M = M > 1, that is, sup (z) > 1. z D Hence, for any 0 f H 2 (D), we get inf (z) < 1, z D inf (z) 1, z D 1 H, and M 1 = M 1 1. M n f 1 M n f 1 M 1 n f f. It is a contradiction to M is Li-Yorke chaotic.
8 LVLIN LUO Therefor M is Li-Yorke chaotic imply inf (z) < 1 < sup (z). z D z D By the properties of a simple connectedness argument of complex analytic functions we get (D) T. Hence we get (4) imply (6), that is (1)(2)(3)(4) both imply (6). Corollary 4.2. If H (D) is a invertible Cowen-Douglas function in the Banach algebra H (D), and let M be the multiplication by on H 2 (D). Then M has property α if and only if M 1 has, where α {Devaney chaotic, distributionally chaotic, strong mixing, Li-Yorke chaotic, hypercyclic}. Proof. Because of T = (T 1 ) 1, it is enough to prove that the dynamic properties of M is imply the same dynamic properties of M 1. By Definition 3.5 we get M B n( (D)), with a simple computing we get M 1 B n ( 1 (D)). If M has property α, by Theoem 4.1 we get (D) T, and by the properties of complex analytic functions we get 1(D) T. Because of M 1 B 1 ( 1 (D)) and by Theorem 4.1 we get M 1 has property α. We now study some properties about scalars perturbation of an operator inspired by[9] and[1] that research some properties about the compact perturbation of scalar operator. Definition 4.3 ([8]). Let λ C,T B(H). Define (i) Let S LY (T) denote the set such that λi + T is Li-Yorke chaotic for every λ S LY (T). (ii) Let S DC (T) denote the set such that λi +T is distributionally chaotic for every λ S DC (T). (iii) Let S DV (T) denote the set such that λi +T is Devaney chaotic for every λ S DV (T). (iv) Let S H (T) denote the set such that λi + T is hypercyclic for every λ S H (T). ByDefinition4.3wegetS LY (λi+t) = S LY (T) λ, S DC (λi+t) = S DC (T) λ, S DV (λi +T) = S DV (T) λ and S H (λi +T) = S H (T) λ. Example 4.4. Let T be the backward shift operator on L 2 (N), T(x 1,x 2, ) = (x 2,x 3, ). Then S LY (T) = S DC (T) = S DV (T) = S H (T) = 2D\{0}, S LY (2T) = S DC (2T) = S DV (2T) = S H (2T) = 3D. Hence S LY (T) and S LY (2T) are open sets. Proof. By [10]P209 we get σ(t) = cld and σ(2t) = cl2d, by Definition σ(t) we get σ(λi + T) = λ+cld. Because of the method to prove the conclusion is similarly for T and 2T, we only to prove the conclusion for T. By the naturally isomorphic between H 2 (T) and H 2 (D). Let L 2 (N) = H 2 (T), by the definition of T we get (λi + T) is the multiplication operator M f by
COWEN-DOUGLAS FUNCTION AND ITS APPLICATION ON CHAOS 9 f(z) = λ+z on the Hardy space H 2 (T). By the Dirichlet Problem [5]P103 we get that f(z) is associated with the complex analytic function (z) = λ+z H (D) determined by the boundary condition (z) T = f(z). By Corollary 3.7 we get that is a Cowen-Douglas function. Therefor by the natural isomorphic between H 2 (T) and H 2 (D), λi +T is naturally equivalent to the operator M on H2 (D). By Theorem 4.1 we get that M is hypercyclic or Devaney chaotic or distributionally chaotic or Li-Yorke chaotic if and only if (D) T. Because of σ(λi +T) = σ( λi +T ), we get hence is an open set. Therefor we can get σ(λi +T) = σ(m ) = σ(m ) (D), S LY (T) = S DC (T) = S DV (T) = S H (T) = 2D\{0} Corollary 4.5. Let T be the backward shift operator on L 2 (N), T(x 1,x 2, ) = (x 2,x 3, ). For λ 0,a 0,λ,a C and n N, if λ+at n is a invertible bounded linear operator, then λ+at n has property α if and only if (λ+at n ) 1 has, where α {Devaney chaotic, distributionally chaotic, strong mixing, Li- Yorke chaotic, hypercyclic}.
