Value of te β 3 deformation, dept of te tetraedral minima, and teir energie relative to te co-exiting quadrupole minima are determined for everal verion of te kyrme force. Reduction of te tetraedral deformation energie by pairing correlation i quantitatively analyed. In ligt nuclei, allow tetraedral minima are found to be te lowet in energy, wile in eavy nuclei, te minima are deeper but appear at a few MeV of excitation. 1. Introduction It i known tat an increaed nuclear binging i caued by te preence of large energy gap in te ingle-particle (.p.) nuclear pectra. e large gap reult in a decreaed average denity of.p. level and influence binding energie troug te o-called ell effect. ee effect can be furter enanced by ig degeneracie of te.p. level above and/or below te energy gap, wic reult in even larger fluctuation of te average level denitie. uc degeneracie, in turn, are conequence of te conervation of certain ymmetrie in te.p. amiltonian. rdinary doubly-magic nuclei, for example, are perically ymmetric, i.e. caracterized by degenarcie correponding to te rotational group (3), and indeed te mot trongly bound. Apart from te group of rotation, tere exit only two oter relevant ymmetry group woe conervation lead to.p. degeneracie iger tan te two-fold Kramer degeneracy. ne of tem i te point group, d, of te regular tetraedron, wic yield two-fold and four-fold degenerate.p. level. n ti 1
2 . lbratowki et al. bai, Li and Dudek 1 uggeted in 199 tat table nuclear ape caracterized by te tetraedral ymmetry may exit in Nature. e lowet-rank multipole deformation wic doe not violate te d ymmetry i β 3. It repreent a ape of a regular tetraedron wit rounded edge and corner, and i uually called tetraedral deformation. By uing te deformed Wood-axon potential, everal autor 1,,3 examined te.p. energie in function of β 3, and found tat, indeed, large energy gap, ometime larger tan te perical one, open up at neutron/proton number of N/Z=1,, 3,, 5-5, 7, 9-9,, 1, or 13. ey are ometime referred to a tetraedral magic number. In te vicinity of te tetraedrally doubly-magic nuclei defined in ti way, trutinky ell-correction calculation were performed 1,3,,5, and energy minima correponding to te tetraedral deformation were found in even-even Zr, 1 Zr, 1 Yb, Rn, and Fm. imilarly, te artree-fock+bc (F+BC) calculation, found tetraedral olution in Zr, and artree-fock-bogolyubov (FB) tetraedral olution in Zr and 1 Zr were reported in Ref. 7 and,5, repectively. e preent paper report on te firt ytematic tudy of te tetraedral deformation in variou region of te nuclear cart, carried out by mean of elf-conitent metod. We focu our tudy on propertie of te tetraedral minima, mainly teir energie and deformation, and analyze teir dependence on te kyrme force parameterization.. FB calculation e FB metod wa ued. Four parameter et of te kyrme interaction were taken in te particle-ole cannel: Ly, km* 9, k, and III 11. For te decription of pairing, procedure of Ref. were followed. e denity-dependent delta interaction in te form of ( V ( r 1, r ) = V 1 ρ( r ) 1) δ( r 1 r ) (1) ρ wa employed, wit te aturation denity, ρ =.1fm 3, and trengt of V = 5., 33.9, 13.71, and 9.MeVfm 3 for Ly, km*, k, and III, repectively. e denitie were contructed out of quai-particle tate wit equivalent-pectrum energie up to MeV. In order to tudy effect of pairing, te F calculation were alo performed for comparion. Reflection ymmetrie in two or tree perpendicular plane were impoed, correpondingly, wen looking for te tetraedral and quadrupole olution. e calculation were carried out by uing te code FDD (v.11k) 13,,15, wic expand te quai-particle wave-function onto te armonic-cillator bai. Bae of and 1 perical ell were taken for te Zr and eavier element, repectively. ix nuclei, doubly-magic wit repect to te tetraedral magic number, were examined: Zr, 9 Zr 5, 1 Zr 7, 5 Ba 7, 1 7 Yb 9, and In all of tem, te F and FB energy minima correponding to te tetraedral ape were found
3 FB calculation for nuclei wit tetraedral deformation 3 wit all te examined force, apart from a few exception. e found olution are caracterized by te β 3 deformation ranging from. to., and admixture of β and β deformation in proportion tat preerve te tetraedral ymmetry, and wit value of β ranging from about.1 to.7. Deformation of iger multipolaritie were found to be negligibly mall. A expected for te tetraedral ymmetry, te F.p. and FB quai-particle pectra are compoed of two-fold and four-fold degenerate level. In te ix nuclei in quetion, perical, oblate, prolate, and triaxial olution were alo found, depending on te nucleu, a dicued below. - Energy [MeV] -9-9 E β 3 Fig. 1. otal energy in function of te tetraedral deformation β 3 in 1 Zr, obtained from te FB calculation wit te III force. E denote te energy difference between te perical point and te tetraedral minimum. ree quantitie tat caracterize te obtained tetraedral olution will be examined: te energy difference, E q, between te tetraedral () and lowet quadrupole (q) minima, te energy difference, E, between te perical point () and tetraedral minimum, and te deformation β 3. E q give an idea of te excitation energy of te tetraedral tate above te ground tate. E i important for te following reaon. Bot from te previou elf-conitent tudie in Zr,7, a well a from our preliminary reult for,9,1 Zr, it eem tat, at leat in te Zr iotope, tere i no energy barrier between te perical and tetraedral olution. Value of E q are particularly large, not maller tan 7 MeV, in Ba and rater moderate, even about 3MeV, in 1 Yb and. Furter important point i tat te dept of te tetraedral minima, E, are reduced by pairing. i can be een from te comparion of te F and FB reult for 1 Zr and Ba (four central panel in Fig. ). e reduction may be a ignificant a from 3 to 1 MeV in 1 Zr wit km*, wile for k te incluion of pairing uppree te tetraedral minimum in 1 Zr altogeter. e decreae in E i mainly due to te lowering of te energy at te perical point, i.e., te pairing influence te perical tate more tan te tetraedral one. i i o becaue te.p. energy gap at te Fermi level are bigger in te latter cae, a already dicued in te Introduction. It can be a mall a a few ten of kev in Zr iotope, and a large a 7 MeV for 1 Yb wit km*. e problem of tability of te tetraedral minima can be even more complicated becaue of a poible oftne of te nuclei in quetion againt te octupole deformation oter tan β 3,7. e four kyrme force ued in our tudy alo give omewat different value of te β 3 deformation, ee able 1. e incluion of pairing ligtly reduce tee value, along wit E. eavier iotope ave larger value of β ummary artree-fock-bogolyubov olution correponding to te tetraedral deformation were found in ix tetraedrally doubly-magic nuclei: Zr, 9 Zr, 1 Zr, Ba, 1 Yb, and. Reult wit four kyrme force, Ly, km*, III, and k, ometime ignificantly differ in te value of β 3, dept of te tetraedral minima, and teir energie wit repect to te co-exiting quadrupole olution. e incluion of pairing reduce te dept, or even uppree te exitence of te tetraedral minima. In Zr iotope, te tetraedral minima are rater allow, but ome force predict tem a te lowet in energy.
